Sorry, thinko on my part. This did work after all once the image booted.
Here's a log that shows update not working with the Ubuntu 14.04 host.
Command tested:
$ ./run virt-builder fedora-21 --network --update -v -x 2>&1 | tee

HVM hypercalls
Hi
I need to use hypercalls from HVM domain (e.g. HYPERVISOR_add_to_physmap). However, it does not work when I am trying to invoke it from HVM Linux guest. Basically, I don''t see that anything happens on hypervisor''s side. I also grep''ed the guest code for ''vmmcall''/''vmcall'' and did not find anything. Is it possible to do it at all?

regresion mixta

HP Z820 - Does not boot xen
Hi,
We have a brand new HP Z820 system which is a E5 based sandy-bridge server with NVIDIA Quadro 600 Graphics card.
The machine has 32GB RAM and 8 CPUs (16 with Hyper threading enabled)
The system has AMI BIOS 2.07 (the latest).
We have enabled Hyper-threading, VT-d, VMX in the BIOS.
We installed Ubuntu 12.04 first, followed by, XEN installation (the one that is packaged (4.1) along with

XCP and opensolaris
Hi,
I saw an earlier message from Rune Nilssen on using opensolaris for storage with XCP. I was just wonder if Rune could give some more details about his setup?
Also, I was wondering what tools people are using to manage XCP. I saw somewhere that XenClient could be used, but it complained about a version mismatch for me.

testing hypercall from windows - what''s the most basic call I can make to test
I''m tinkering with some code to be able to talk to the hypervisor from
Windows, with the ultimate aim to get a usable xenbus.
So far I''ve created a driver for the Xen PCI ''device'', and (hopefully)
mapped the hypercall space given by the CPUID call...
What is the simplest hypercall I can make to get an answer from the
hypervisor to tell me that it''s

ARGH... once again samba causes "permission" errors.
I've been doing unix sys. admin for nearly 20 years and yet EVERY single
time I have to setup samba I have configuration problems.
Before we start let's clear up some common misunderstandings: I have
googled for the answer. I have spent the last six hours doing so and trying
various "suggestions". Most of these suggestions point to solutions
involving chown or chmod. These are

Intermittent user authentication problem
We're experiencing a problem where one of our users is unable to
authenticate to Samba some times (1 - 2 times/week out of 5). Typically
when it happens, it's when she first attempts to access it in the
morning. Regardless of how many times she tries again, she is unable to
authenticate. However, if she tries later in the day, it works fine.
She is the only user this has happened to.

FreeBSD PVH guest support
Hello,
The Xen community is working on a new virtualization mode (or maybe I
should say an extension of HVM) to be able to run PV guests inside HVM
containers without requiring a device-model (Qemu). One of the
advantages of this new virtualization mode is that now it is much more
easier to port guests to run under it (as compared to pure PV guests).
Given that FreeBSD already supports

samba to samba via LDAP
Hi all,
I have lots of samba servers and want them to all authenticate against a
single password file which will be a LDAP database.
Where I want to be:
Login to a domain called "FROST" that passes the username:passwd to a domain
called "ACR" which checks LDAP.
Where I'm at:
I can login (from a W2K machine) to a test server called LIBIT which uses LDAP
