http problem with (a particular url) and default (nat) networking
At work I have a script that provisions a vm for use by employees. One
step in this process is to fetch hadoop, which we happen to get from
cloudera. I noticed the script always failed when I used libvirt's default
networking (nat) but worked fine when I used user mode networking. My
instinct is that this is related to (potentially uncommon) network traffic
from the server in question, and

guest A from virbr0 can talk to guest B in virbr1 but not vice versa
Hello,
I came across an interesting problem in my home lab a few weeks ago as I'm
prepping for my RHCE exam using Michael Jang study guide. I've been at this
for days now, and I still can't wrap my head around how two or more virtual
networks in default NAT configuration are even allowed to communicate with
each other despite what the libvirt documentation said.
Here's the

unable to ping from guests in virbr0 to guests in virbr1 network
Hi all,
I have 3 guests (2-RHEL4 and 1 RHEL6) and have some issues regarding
networking between them. The 2 RHEL4 system's use default bridge virbr0 and
get ip's of range 192.168.122.0/24 (192.168.122.207, 192.168.122.167)
I created another bridge (virbr1) with NAT forwarding (no dhcp). The
network i choose was 192.168.100.0/24. And the third system (RHEL6) was
assigned static ip-addres

Inconsistent iptables forwarding rules for virtual networks?
Hi everyone.
Those are the iptables forwarding rules associated with the two virtual networks
on my machine:

-A FORWARD -s 192.168.100.0/24 -i virbr1 -j ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -i virbr1 -o virbr1 -j ACCEPT

Network inoperable with QEMU arm example image
I am running Fedora 16 64bit and installed libvirt. I have the VM
running with arm emulation with this one issue I can't figure out. I
used Virtual Machine Manager to manage the VM and can access its console
there. The Ethernet appears to be eth1 and the guest can set an IP on
it etc. However, I cannot see any traffic from the Host when dumping
any of the interfaces. I've tried

Thanks I was using iptables and not converted to firewalld. I am doing so
now.
Will I need to delete the VM and re-add it ?
I am rebooting first.

Redhat vs centos vs ubuntu
This is a continuation of the thread about redhat vs centos and the
thought of moving from centos
due to redhats new business model. Forgive the length, but I had to share.
I went ahead and downloaded the 5 year supported version of ubuntu server.
You think centos/redhat is a bit tough or not polished?
One day with ubuntu server and you will look at centos install and setup
as a god!

Setting up port forwarding to guests on nat network
Hello all,
I’m currently trying to figure out how to forward ports to guests that are on a NAT Network. I have followed the directions on https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking under the “Forwarding Incoming Connections” Section and get connection refused when attempting to connect.
System: Ubuntu Server 18.04.1
Virsh / LibVirtd Version: 4.0.0
Here’s the contents of /etc/libvirt/hooks/qemu

No shared physical device in virt-manager
I am fairly new to xen and am trying to build a new guest using
virt-manager. When I get to the screen where you can choose virtual or
shared physical device there are no physical devices to choose from. Is
there some step that I have missed while setting up my Dom0?

Give focus to an input field of a form
Hi,
I am new to rails and I have setup Typo on my site. One little
thing bugs me, the login page doesn''t give focus to the "user_login"
field. I was wondering what do I need to do to make rails help with
this? I have seen some simple inline javascript to set the focus,
sort of like:
document.<form_name>.user_login.focus()
However the rails view doesn''t

xenbr0 vs. virtbr0
Just created the first completely new Xen VM with the Virtual Machine
Manager after 5.0 became 5.1 and I notice these two differences:
- there's now virbr0 instead of xenbr0. Which means I have now xenbr0 and
vitbr0 interfaces running. As virbr0 just the new name for xenbr0? If so,
can I just change that name in the older configuration files, so that all
use the same interface name?

Xen 3.4.2 networking help
(If this is a double post, I apologize, my email client crashed when I first
sent it)
I need some help to configure a secure network on my Xen server. I have been
looking online and it seems a I need a routed network. But I am having a
terrible time implementing it.
My setup:
Xen 3.4.2
CentOS 5.5 Dom0

All guests will be HVM

Can i (somehow) cross these two machines ?

ip route add default via 10.10.10.102 dev eth0
machineB:

address it obtains and the gateway it is assigned are both sourced from the
virtual machine host system and not from our AD DC DHCP server.
To clarify, the virbr0 IP address
