Trouble enabling VT-D: "I/O virtualisation disabled"
I have a chipset which supports VT-d (Intel X58) and, according to my
motherboard manufacturers, VT-d is enabled in the BIOS and listed as "Intel
VT." The problem is that xm dmesg shows "I/O virtualisation disabled" and I
get this error message when I try to create a domU with a pci device
assigned: ''Error: failed to assign device: maybe the platform doesn''t

Xen on a HPC Cluster
Hi folks.
I have some old servers running Windows and Linux and I want to create a HPC
cluster. However I wanna know if Xen can distribute a single virtual machine
along multiple nodes to increase it''s performance.

wget issue on XCP platform
I''m trying to work through the Virtual Machine Examples that are described
on the wiki - http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Command_Line_Interface
>From my XCP platform, I''m simply trying to do a wget as follows:
wget http://www.xen.org/files/XenCloud/Software/lenny.xva
The connection on the XCP host closes after 1209 bytes and retries a number
of times to no avail.

xen gui with argo
Hi all,
I have made an ebuild for Steve''s argo xen-tools (v0.6),
if any interest I will put it online.
I am also experimenting by expanding argo to have remote
console access (with a AJAX we interface) so far it''s
not perfect but I am getting the console.
cheers

/dev/loop on Debian Sid
I have Xen 3.0.2 running on Debian Unstable with a straightforward
setup, mainly based on this howto
http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/396.
When I have restarted dom0, I get this error, when I start a domU with
xm create -c vm.cfg
Error: Device 769 (vbd) could not be connected. Backend device not found.
Google have pointed me to this solution:

Clustering
[Sorry for possible duplicated thread.]
Hi.
I''m new to Xen and I would know if it works well in a cluster environment
(Beowulf, OpenMosix, CoLinux etc).
I need an HPC running some virtual machines. Is this possible with Xen?
Regards.

Converting a standalone system into a Xen guest?
I''ve got a couple of old, but working, SuSE 7 machines which
I''d like to transfer to Xen guests.
What would be the best way of going about this?
The most obvious approach I can think of is to create a large
disk file and do the eqivilent of:
dd if=/dev/hda of=- | netcat | dd if=- of=/home/xen/host.img
Is that liable to work? Or would I be better doing something

xen: when devices go away...
Hi there,
I''ve been experimenting with iscsi and xen and have found an interesting
behavior.
I''d reasoned that using iscsi volumes as devices in a software RAID1
configuration would be a Good Idea since when one of the iscsi servers
goes away the filesystem is stable.
I have a dom0 which has access to two iscsi volumes on two seperate
iscsi target servers.
I configure a domU

Xen Community:
I have been asked by Steve Brueckner of ATC-NY and some of his
colleagues to create a new Xen.org project - Xen Introspection Project:
to design an API for performing VM introspection and implementing the
necessary functionality into Xen. If you are interested, please email me
back and I will add you to the project member list. I will be sending

Duplicating disk files
I''m using Xen 3.0 on Fedora Core 5. With VMware ESX, I was able to create a new VM simply
by copying the disk image of a previously installed VM and making a few adjustments in the
config and networking. Why I try to do the same with Xen, I get an error when I try to
boot the new VM. Some error expecting an integer. Then `xm list` shows the original VM
loaded twice, when in fact the

clocksource? jiffies?
Hi there,
I''m trying to find out if theres anything wrong with using
extra = "clocksource=jiffies"
in domU configuration.
It seems to fix some problems we''ve had with live migration.
Thanks.

using physical disks with HVM
Hi,
As a previous thread in
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-06/msg01111.html
tells, it should be possible tun run hvm domains with a physical disk.
There where other threads about this, but no solution for my current
problem.
When I try to use a disk defined as
disk = [ ''phy:data/faitest-client-generic-hvm-disk,ioemu:hda,w'']
