Hi all,
I get an error when testing the "store_controller_test.rb"
The troublesome line is in the test below:

AWD page 624-626 Understanding how Apache, Mongrel and Rais work together?
I''m trying to understand the ''Big Picture'' of how Ruby on Rails
applications are deployed and operate in distributed environment (one
deployment server, many remote servers).
I follow AWD by Dave Thomas'' explanation from pages 624-626. From
reading these pages I have these questions;
1. How does the RonR instance on the ''remote'' server gain

Strange Unit Testing error - newbie question
I''m fairly new to Rails, and I''ve been learning from AGILE WEB
DEVELOPMENT WITH RAILS. Everything has been going smoothly until the
chapter on Unit Testing, where I''m getting some strange errors.
I''m up to page 141 in the Agile book, and attempting to run the test
program containing the method test_read_with_hash. The previous tests
work properly, but I

Agile Web Dev unit test fails with fixture instance variable
I''m following Agile Edition 1. On page 148 it suggests using instance
variables named after the fixture, for example:
assert_equal @version_control_book.id, @product.id
When I introduce this type of instance variable into my test, I get the
following error:
1) Error:

Rails urls & the AWD book
Greetings!
I''m having a hard time understanding the way Rails handles urls. I''m specifically having real trouble with the image_urls in the Depot app in the Agile Web Development book.
If I enter "\image\file.png" in the Add Product page, the image is displayed in the other views and Properties shows http://localhost:3000/images/file.png
If I leave off the leading

Dumb newbie question - text formatting?
I have a MySQL "text" element that I''m trying to display, but it''s not
formatting (i.e. it''s all one big paragraph). In the AWD depot example
it doesn''t look like they do anything special, but they get formatted
text. I''ve tried it with both:
<%= show.description %> - puts text, and formats according to any HTML
tags I typed in.

specifying table type
I''ve been creating my tables using the command line approach Dave advocates in AWD. I just noticed that they''re being created as MyISAM-type tables. I remember reading (but not where) that I should be creating these as InnoDB-type tables. So, two questions...
1) Is the table type important? (a "why" component to the answer would be nice too ;-) )
2) If so, is

Agile Web Developement with Rails
I recently got a copy of the second addition in PDF
and got stuck on the Ajax portion using highlighting
page 128. While trying to make my cart flash I got an
RJS error when I click add to cart. I have gone back
and made sure my code matched what was in the book but
no help. I sent Dave an email and he rec''d this list.
Anybody got any good links for troubleshooting Ajax or

AJAX Insertion.Before
Can anyone point me to an example of how to use the Insertion. Before technique? I''ve just begun trying to use AJAX and worked through Curt''s "Ajax on Rails". The description in AWD of what this does is just what I need, there''s no example of how to use it, and I''m getting no joy using Google. Any help is tremendously appreciated.

Errors ... errors and errors.
I bought the second edition of the ruby on rails, it seems to work fine

I want to learn to understand to fix them myself. So here is the error.

Is active record 3.1.1 supposed to be threadsafe?
Hi There
Is active record 3.1.1 supposed to be threadsafe?
In other words, should the following (concurrent access to a model)
work?
Thread.new do MyModel.where(some_condition).first end
Thread.new do MyModel.where(some_condition).first end
I ask because upon the answer, it depends which component should handle
synchronization, and in consequence, which component to patch/fix.
