Cannot open port 631 for Cups printer sharing
I have been trying to set up printer sharing on the LAN.All machines are
CentOS 5.2 fully updated. The problem server is a fresh build. The box
it is replacing worked fine for many months.
The problem appears to be a closed port 631 on the new box. iptables
and ip6tables are stopped as shown by the output below. To confirm I
was using nmap correctly I ran it against the old server first which

Can't access shares from Win98 machine
Hello all. I have recently set up Samba on my Rehdat 9 machine. I have
on my home network 2 computers, one running Redhat 9 (with Samba as
mentioned), and the other running Windows 98 2nd ed. My RH machine can
read and access shared directories on the Win98 machine just fine. My
Windows machine can see my Redhat machine on the smb, but cannot access
the shares. In other words, when I go to

XCP 1.1.0 - how to use VNC for installing guest domains?
Hello,
Is it required to install an additional VNC server on XCP 1.1.0 dom0 box
(ip 192.168.1.50)to get access to VNC-windows for installing domU guests?
As I don''t use m$ / XenCenter so I need VNC for installation of new guests.
The VM is running (s. below) *but* I was not able to open VNC window to
continue the installation (s. error message further below)

Hey Y'all,
I just set up a new old machine on my network. I did a net install of

smbclient does not connect anonymously localy on fresh install
Hello.
I have some problem, with a new configuration on a new PC.
I want to setup a SAMBA PDC using an HOWTO.
This howto was working on OPENSUSE 10.1 with a X86 processor and I have used it

Now I use OPENSUSE 10.3.
The new PC run a X64 processor.
After the fresh install and following :

This is what I see about ssl if I just run nrpe on the client without any
flags:

Yep! Both hosts have nagios user accounts.
Demonstrating from the client:
[root at ops:~] #id nagios
uid=2002(nagios) gid=2002(nagios) groups=2002(nagios),2008(nagioscmd)
And this is from the monitoring server:

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running
smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I
never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my
machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from
the machine by typing
apt-get remove --purge samba
I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed
