Domain0 with Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen fails to boot Guests with Kernel 2.6.18-164.el5xen
Hi all,
I am in a bit of a fix here, I have several Guests paravirtualized
running on a Dom0 that is currently running the 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen
Kernel. All my guests (administered by different people) have
subsequently been updated to later versions of the kernel (namely
2.6.18-164.el5xen or 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen).
Ones that are still running are using the Kernel 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen

me since i am using 64bit processor and downloaded the proper tar ball from
xensource website. I have given the link below also.

yum kernel update problem
On the subject of kernel updates:
I had my install kernel (2.6.18-8.el5xen) and 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5xen on the box.
I was unable to originally boot the update (8.1.8xen) because of the 3ware
driver issues (I needed to use a driver floppy at install time).
I jumped through some hoops (which I am struggling to understand) with
weak-updates to get the 2.6.18-8.1.8 kernel to see my raid devices, which

Xen pci passthru problems with kernel -164.6.1
Hi there,
After updating a server from CentOS 5.3 to 5.4 my Xen pci-passthru setup
has some troubles.
The server has two NICs, one used by dom0 and the other assigned to a
domU and one SCSI controler assigned to another domU. It has been
working fine since CentOS 5.1, when I did the initial setup.
After upgrading to 5.4, I get this error when starting the domU with one
of the NICs assigned:

Not able to run kernel-xen with megasr module :/
I've managed to install CentOS 5.1 on S5000PAL
with fakeraid Intel Embedded Raid Technology II
Raid1 (LSI chipset) with some help of kickstart
declaration 'driverdisk --source=http://.../driver.img'
Then I've had some problems with yum update - new kernel
didn't know about megasr.ko. I've solved it with commands:
cd /lib/modules/
cp 2.6.18-53.el5PAE/updates/megasr.ko

Centos 5 completely updated. I have installed XEN from the add and
remove applet within Centos. Here is my grub.conf:

What kernel source and how to download it
Hi all,
I am running CentOS 5.3 under xen on a VPS machine (so I have a limited control on the machine)
I am playing with openswan and KLIPS and I need to build the ipsec.ko kernel module.
I would need to download kernel source but I am really confused about what source I have to get.
uname -r tells:
2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen
ls /lib/modules tells:
ls /lib/modules
2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen

isolinux bin and Xen.gz kernel
Note: I appologize ahead of time if this posted twice. I did not see
the original post and I'm not sure that it was plain text.
I have RedHat Linux 5 with a xen.gz kernel.
I generate my recorvery Cd using isolinux.bin. When booting from it,
which has worked when generated on RH 4 and earlier, I get the
following error:

to convert hvm to pv guest, I have followed the direction(
link<http://pastebin.com/f6a5022bf>) in Xen-Users Common Questions
Guide.
It says the first step is "install kernel-xen with correct initrd"
After "yum install kernel-xen" was executed, following errors were showed:

puppet and ubuntu 9.04
I am stuck with ubuntu 9.04 as puppet master server. But puppet version is
old on ubuntu 9.04:

Would it be possible to upgrade it to the latest version, without upgrading
the OS?

Migrating from KVM to XEN - kernel panic
First let me say that I'm not a sysadmin, but am simply wearing that hat
this week so please excuse my ignorance. I need to temporarily move some
virtual servers from a CentOS-KVM platform to a CentOS-XEN platform while I
do some upgrades to the CentOS box. I've created a local LV, and used DD
and SCP to transfer the block device from the VKM machine to the XEN
machine. For quite a

augeas and /etc/securetty
Hi, I need to add one line to /etc/securetty, say it needs to be ttyS1. Do
not add it if ttyS1 already exists in file /etc/securetty.
How to achieve this using puppet module in puppet 2.5? This file is
different than the other examples using augeas, this one only has value per
line, not name-val pair.
Thanks,
Hai
