Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi:
Reading Red Hat''s Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat
Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and
RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same
situation for CentOS 5, right?
What''s the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests?
I ask this questions because I got this experiences:

Jumbo frames with domUs in bridging mode
Hi everyone,
I have looked through the list archives and seen a few posts about jumbo
frame support, but there is no definitive answer on whether or not it
has been tested or is working for anyone. I tried using an MTU of 9000
in a domU and encountered some very interesting and not-so-great
results. My machines used in this test are:
* NFS (physical)
* dom0 (physical)
* domU (virtual)

Hi, I was about to enter a similar suggestion to this. My very frequent use
case is moving files from one directory to another. In that situation the file
name does not change--just the directory path leading to it. These are often
quite large files (0.2 to

weirdness on powerfail
I had a power-fail this morning, and when I rebooted, /etc/rc.d/rc.boot
issued a 'mount -n -o remount,ro /' and then a 'fsck -A -V -a -C'. The
fsck failed on my root partition. I know why it failed. It called
fsck.ext2 . My root poartition is ext3. My question is, why did it call
fsck.ext2? Another question, why was it checked at all? My /etc/fstab
contains:
/dev/hda1 / ext3

Tweaking params for 24 bit?
Hi,
I frequently encode multi-hour radio recordings in 44.1 kHz 24 bit
stereo and am currently using the -6 setting with verify (via the "FLAC
frontend" application). Would there be any parameter(s) that may lead to
noticeably better compression without increasing encoding time a lot?

(see sig).) Currently

HP Toolbox kills Samba
Hi,
I've encountered the following problem at a client. The problem results
in one or more of the smbd processing continuously grabbing more and more
memory until the system runs out of memory or just becomes unusable due to a
low memory condition. This error is extremely serious as the entire server
is eventually brought down by one error.
After debugging this error at the

Hey
I wanted to try my hand at doing some GPU passthrough so on my ASUS

had issues after S3 suspend) - but with a BIOS the PCI passthrough does
not work. That is due to::

On a side note, try recently released health report tool, and see if it
does diagnose any issues in setup. Currently you may have to run it in all
the three machines.

Hi Karthik,
thanks for taking a look at this. I'm not working with gluster long
enough to make heads or tails out of the logs. The logs are attached to
this mail and here is the other information:

Today is my day!
This is with Xen 4.4 (pulled today) when I build a kernel in dom0 and
have two guests launching at the same time. This is what I get:
(XEN) Assertion ''l1e_get_pfn(MAPCACHE_L1ENT(hashent->idx)) == hashent->mfn'' failed at domain_page.c:203
and it blows up. Here is the full log:

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:

build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge
them to be.

No access check deleting printer drivers
Hello list!
On all my samba installations (3.0.20b) I can delete all unused printer
drivers with rpcclient regardless which user name or password i use.
Is this a general feature or might it depend on my settings?
Thanks,
Martin
