Paravirtualized Debian (on CentOS host)
In order to create a paravirtualized guest/DomU, should i use the same
distro as the host/dom0 is?
Or is it possible to install a paravirtualized Debian (as a guest / DomU)
into a CentOS (host / Dom0) ?

RE: Feature request? Auto start vm upon next shutdown
It is not a destroy. With some hardware changes you require the host to
shutdown down and then start. The shutdown down is manually given either
via some acpi request or from within the guest.
When the guest is down, the 'host' recognizes this guest requires a one
time start, and starts it.
This should 'solve' that if you change hardware you have to wait for the
guest to

GPLPV
Hello list;
I´ve updated my windows 2k3 GPLPV drivers from 0.9.9 to 0.9.12-pre13.
But now, i have two xen block devices; (of course, one of them is not
working and is marked with the yellow exclamation).
How can i fix it, or how can i uninstall the GPLPV drivers in order to make
a clean install?
Thanks
Juan Pablo

Re: Guest startup delay options ignored
just a followup with more information:
The approach I have tried is to update /etc/sysconfig/libvirt-guests as follows:
# URIs to check for running guests
# example: URIS='default xen:/// vbox+tcp://host/system lxc:///'
#URIS=default
# action taken on host boot
# - start all guests which were running on shutdown are started on boot
# regardless on their autostart settings

Poor network performance on Win2k3 DomU
Hi everyone.
I´m having this problem with Red Hat 5.4 running on a HP ProLiant BL460c G6.
I have two windows 2k3 x64, but network performance is extremely bad without
PV drivers, i mean, it takes a lot of time to access any location and if the
path has many folders it can´t conect.
Redhat provides some PV dirvers. I´ve installed them, but with no
improvements.
I tested another DomU, with the

pre/post vm start commands
Hi there,
for development i use a windows vm. which is installed into a disk
image. because the compiler generates a lot of temporary files into the
user tempdir (C:\\Documents And Users\\User\\Local Settings\\Temp) the
vm becomes quite slow after a couple of weeks and i register a lot
activity on the disk.
so i moved the temp directory to a ram disk and no more problems.
but because the ram

Really slow CentOS 5 - Starting Applications
Hello;
I´m having a problem with a CentOS 5 (x64) with Xen, running 3 DomU (2
Win2k3, 1 Debian).
Every DomU works perfect, but Dom0 is extremely slow when starting any
application, it doesn´t mother if its something big or a simple terminal.
CPU is 98% idle, Memory es just 24% used (2.4gb total left for Dom0)
I think that it´s not an I/O issue, ´cause if i open the same application

how to enable auto-start on newer versions of Xen ?
PJ,
I didn't have virsh installed (libvirt-client).? After having installed it, it still didn't see the process:
virsh autostart testvm
error: failed to connect to the hypervisor
error: no valid connection
error: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory
Then, after having installed libvirt, it gives essentially the same error.

Unable to provision VM attaching it directly to a OVS bridge
Reposting from virt-tools mailing list:
Hi!
I'm facing a problem that could be triggered by some lacking
of support from libvirt on Open vSwitch (or could be my mistake).
I have interests in researching on virtual networks and
SDN. To keep things simple, I've decided to use libvirt/virt-tools to
manage VM's since my focus is on the network, instead of using a
full feature system

Another question about the tutorial
Hello
After upgrading to ruby 1.8.2, finally got rails to install properly.
Now, following the tutorial, I found a couple of things:
First, apparently rails tries to establish local mysql connections using
"/tmp/mysql.sock"
which mandrake does not use. In mandrake 10.1, this file is located at
"/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock".
The solution is to create a simlink

Error installing VM: "Process exited while reading console log output"
Hi,
I'm trying to install a qemu-kvm virtual machine on a Debian GNU/Linux
squeeze amd64 host, using virtinst 0.500.3 and libvirt 0.8.3.
First I tried this command as a normal user (in groups kvm and libvirt):
    $ virt-install --connect qemu:///system --name test1 \

How to auto-start and -stop xVM domains?
I''m trying to figure out what the CURRENT requirements are for
configuring the xVM domains to start at boot-time and stop on shutdown.
The closest to current I''ve seen is

which does not address the problem, and

Copy VM in running-snapshoted state to another host
Hello!
I want to create some kind of time machine script for a vm. E.g. I have a
running vm on one host which I need to save the state of. So I save
(*dumpxml) all data: VM, net, snapshot. Then archive all of it including
vm's disk images. Then I put this archive to some other host and to restore
the vm by importing all the data from xmls.
So now I'm trying to do the above manually and
