Syntax for PCI Pass-Thru for multiple devices?
Hi All,
This might be a stupid question, but I have two PCI devices that I want
to pass-thru to a PV domU. I can pass one of them, but not both. I''m
sure it''s a stupid syntax issue within my configuration file. When I do
a "lspci" in the domU, (CentOS 5.1), only one of the devices shows up.

virtual gigabit
Is there anyway to get gigabit networking for a fully virtualized
guest? I''ve tried searching for this one, but all I get are results
about gigabit networking for the host / dom0, nothing for domU.
Thanks,
Gordon

Ability to pass-through a PCI videocard & PCI USB card?
Hi All!
Quick question as I''m wondering if this is possible.
On a Intel-VT enabled machine (Intel Xeon X3220 on an Intel 3000 Series
Chipset), if I have a PCI video-card and a PCI USB card, would it be
possible to do a PCI pass-through on those two PCI devices to a guest
domain? I''m assuming the PCI USB card would be fairly easy, but my gut
instinct on the PCI video-card is

UPS (Power) Monitoring on dom0...
Hi All,
I have a USB-HID compatible UPS which is connected to my dom0 (CentOS
5.1) which is being monitored. I have a bunch of domU''s of various
OS''es, and was wondering if anyone has a solution to send the "state"
of the UPS to the domU''s (read-only). I''d like that in the event of a
power-outage and the UPS''s batteries are low that before

any VT-d enabled mobos for Xeon 5000 series out there ?
Hi list,
i have seen a lot of questions about VT-d on recent intel mobos.
however, it seems that all tests are done on the newer socket 775-based
xeon''s or core2''s, and not the 5000 series (socket 771 based).
i was planning on getting a intel S5000V chipset, but found out that it does
not support VT-d.
Can anyone confirm a mobo that has this enabled and also has 2x LGA771

RHEL5 & Xen 3.2.1; Not creating tap0 in dom0 for domU''s
Hi All,
I have a weird issue I''m not sure how to solve. I''ve got Xen 3.2.1
working under RHEL 5.2 x86_64 just fine. I fired off a CentOS 5.2 PV
install and everything went smoothly... except that when I fire up the
PV, the tap0 for bridging isn''t being created. This results in the
CentOS 5.2 domU''s bridged eth0 only being able to ping the RHEL5

VT-d "partial" success - passing DVB-S tuner to Windows DomU (based off previous thread of similar name!)
Hi All,
So I''ve got a DVB-S PCI Express card ($30 USD Twinhan AD-SE200 off
eBay) that''s being passed via VT-d/pciback in Xen 3.2.1 under CentOS
5.2 to a Windows XP SP3 which works! ... except for one small issue...
Motherboard is an Intel DQ35JO that much people has had success with
and an Intel E8400 CPU.
The issue is that when dealing with FTA MPEG-2 transport streams (DVB-S

VT-d with Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O
Hi all,
I''m having difficulty getting VT-d to work correctly with a new Supermicro
MBD-X10SAE-O in QubesOS <http://qubes-os.org/trac>, and I''m hoping someone
here might be able to help me (or at least shed some light on my
situation). A Qubes developer suggested I contact this list. Here''s my HCL

Decent motherboard with VT-d (Intel) support?
I know most of the motherboards based off of the Intel Q35 northbridge
usually have VT-d options for it to be enabled or disabled in the
BIOS. I''ve heard the same for Intel 5400''s and Intel 3200/3210''s but
been looking through manuals for various server boards and don''t see
VT-d options in the BIOS.
However, I was wondering if anyone had success stories or

Best way to migrate Xen Disk IMG w/LVM''s to a block-device? (e.g. DRBD)
Hi All,
I was hoping to pick someone''s brain about the best way of moving a Xen
disk image (which has LVM''s inside of it) to a new block-device? I
have the target DRBD device ready but unsure what''s the best &
safest way to do it.
I was actually tempted to mount the Xen disk image in a dom0, and make
it visible via loop devices and promote that DRBD node for

ps -ef | grep mbd reports only mbd
Again,
Following Carter's book, and after starting smbd and nmbd with " smbd -D ;
nmbd -D" I do a "ps -ef | grep mbd". Only nmbd is report with it's PID. smbd
never is reported. Jerry's book [2nd ed.] states that both should show up with
their respective PIDs.
I have searched through over one hundred pages of documentation and cannot
find the answer as to

[ns]mbd, sync'ing of disks, and hdparm
Hi,
I run a little router/firewall that also acts as a print server for
the linux and win98 clients on the LAN. I have the harddisk configured
so that if there is little activity, it spins down (hdparm -S 12
/dev/hda).
I added smbd/nmbd today and with the two services running, the hard
disk drive spins down but wakes up about every 12 minutes. Without the
services, only a major event causes them

Xen 3.2.1 w/WinXP "ACPI Multiprocessor" HAL...
Hi All,
Was curious if anyone successfully running WinXP HVM (x86) under Xen
3.2.1 with the HAL set to "ACPI Multiprocessor" without using up oodles
of CPU time? Works great with "Standard PC" but would like to get all
the CPU cores accessible for XP...

How to prevent /var/log/samba/log.[sn]mbd creation?
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=311300
I agree with comment #48, with "syslog only = Yes" early log messages
should go to stderr. As the current behavior is by design, I ask if
there is some way to prevent these files of being created. "log file =
/dev/null" did not work (Fedora 18, Samba 4.0.0rc5).

exporting SAS card for using external device
Hi There,
I was wondering if it is possible to export a LSI SAS card (with
external input) into the windows xp VM I have setup, The plan is to use
a tape drive on it -- has anyone done this before or could point me to
any info?
Debian stable, Xen 3.0.3-1-amd64
Many thanks

Best practices for httpd & MySQL under Xen w/DRBD & iSCSI?
Hi All,
I apologize in advance if this strays too far from the etiquette on the
Xen userlist, however the amount of help, brainpower and experience I''ve
received from this list with Xen and "peripheral" related issues (i.e.
DRBD) have been worth more than it''s weight on gold and I''m hoping
someone will be kind enough to give me a "best practices"

I'm running FreeBSD 8 on a Sheevaplug (ARM5 processor)
I compiled and installed Samba 3.3.9 from ports using defaults and defaults

I left the smb.conf file untouched, ran testparm and immediately received
the coredump.
The same happens running smbd and nmbd.
Can anyone help me resolve?

Making a VM directly accessible from a public IP
Hi,
Currently my Xen server is working like a charm. I use Xen 3.2.1 with
a Debian Etch Dom0 and Etch DomU. The VM have access to the
network/internet using NAT. Each VM is given a virtual network
interface and a private IP 10.0.0.x. What I would like to do know is
that a VM can be directly accessible from another public IP.
So my physical server is at 91.121.xx.xx. My VM is at 10.0.0.1 (on
