X11 on AMD64 with Xen 4.0.0 and new pvops kernel - no X11
Dear All,
I am currently trying out Xen 4.0.0 with Ubuntu Lucid as Dom 0 with a
pv ps kernel, and I can get it to boot and run lucid as dom0 perfectly
well in console mode, however, I am unable to start X11. Looking here
I can see there are problems with pvops kernels and X11.

Xen boot has poor screen resolution and fails to load X11
I tried sending this e-mail to the list earlier but no one replied...
Right, so I''m brand new to xen, and I''ve had success in making xen boot
(kernel /boot/xen-2.0.6.gz module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-xen0), but
there are a couple major issues.
1) The screen resolution. I''m running a ThinkPad T30 (2366-92U, for
those who want to know), and all the text looks fuzzy. I

X11 Forwarding troubles with OpenSSH client and OpenVMS host
Hello,
I searched through the mailing list archives here, at
securityfocus.com, at HP and google and have come up dry. Sorry in
advance if my search was not complete enough or I missed something but
I sure as heck didn't see anything.

[Fwd: Re: Xen without the X]
Dylan,
Thank you for your advice.
What I would really like to do is to be able to compile Xen from
source. If I can''t I guess I can use a distro version.

Context:
'X11' starts a graphics device driver on the display given by argument
'display'.
Problem:
If the environment variable DISPLAY is not set, the R process dies with exit
status 1.
Example (start R without DISPLAY from bash):

running R without X11
Hello,
I'm trying to run R from a webserver, which doesn't have an X server,
and produce pngs to go on a webpage, is this possible?
I'm doing it in gnuplot with
gnuplot> set term png
gnuplot> set output
With $DISPLAY unset, I get the following error from R:
> png()

How can I run package ca (correspondence analysis), which needs rgl, without X11?
I want to invoke R on a Linux Web server from Java, in order to analyse
data in ways that would take too long to code, and run too slowly, in
Java. In particular, to do correspondence analyses. To this end, I've
installed R version 2.15.0 on my Web host's x86_64 GNU/Linux machine, and
tried using package "ca" to run the "author" example of correspondence
analysis

R without X11? (PR#259)
I am attempting to compile R-0.64.2 under Caldera OpenLinux 2.2. I have
KDE installed but not gnome. When I ran configure, it correctly
indicated that gnome is not installed. However when I then ran make, I
received errors complaining that the include file X11/X.h and similar
are not found. Is X11 required for R? If not, how can a work around
this?
I have attached the output of the

Apps segfaulting, problem with X?
Hello,
I'm having big trouble getting wine to work.
What I basically want to do is get steam to work, now it even fails to launch at all. It updates to 99% and then it segfaults. Other games has done this too (rollercoaster tycoon 2, starcraft 2). I followed the instructions on winehq, removed oriya/samyak fonts and I don't think I've done anything wrong - I've installed steam

Mouse cursor problems in Windows DomU after installing ATI-driver fglrx to X11
Hallo,
I run Xen 3.0.4.1 on Ubuntu 6.06 with Gnome desktop. I can start
Windows as DomU without problems, everything works fine (w2k server32 bit or
w2k3 server 64 bit).
Because I use the notebook HP nx9420 which has a wide screen, I
installed into X11 the driver fglrx which supports the given resolution mode
1680x1050.
Now, with the new driver The Gnome

Possible To Enable Building R With Cairo But Without X11 Dependencies?
Hello,
So the Homebrew community dropped support for --with-cairo which is a shame
because --without-x --with-cairo is an important combination for any
environment that might need to generate graphics without X11 (or related)
dependencies (macOS, headless linux servers).
This rejected GitHub PR contains more detail:

Cairo bitmap output should work without X11 dependency (PR#12218)
Full_Name: Craig Ruff
Version: 2.7.1
OS: Irix 6.5.30
Submission from: (NULL) (128.117.8.145)
Cairo based bitmap graphics output should work if cairo and R have been compiled
without xlib support. 2.7.1 gives the "X11 is not available" message in this
case when run interactively, and from my reading the png documentation, calling
png(filename=..., type="cairo") should work.

Creating images without X11
Dear Colleagues,
We are attempting to create trees using R with our Ruby on Rails
application. However, we are running into a problem involving the
creation of the graphic. We would like them to be in either jpg or png
format so that users can save, but due to a lack of control over our
sever we are unable to start X11 server. Is there a way to create
these images without using X11 server?

X11 in domU
Hi,
I''m not certain whether this belongs in ''users'' or ''devel'',
the topic appears to turn up in both lists. I''ve started
here on the assumption that it already works and I''ve missed
something :)
What we''d like to do is run several independant X11''s on a
single CPU box. Using on-board (AGP) graphics, and additional
