HVM vif without bridge
Hello, When using xen without a bridge but NAT or routing, HVM domains can''t boot, and qemu-dm-n.log contains: config qemu network with xen bridge for tap0 xenbr0 bridge xenbr0 does not exist! That''s because the qemu-ifup script always tries to add the vif to a default-named xenbr0 bridge. On the contrary, PV domains just work fine with the same configuration file except HVM

Anyone gotten qemu to operate in bride network mode on centos 4
I have been asking on the qemu list how to get bridge network mode working under centos 4... To no avail. The following script is what I have tried as my /etc/qemu-ifup. It supposedly worked for fedora. #!/bin/sh # # qemu_up # # script to bring up the tun device in QEMU in bridged mode # # This script bridges eth0 and tap0. First take eth0 down, then bring it up with IP 0.0.0.0 # /sbin/ifdown

Possible bug in ifup-eth script of Centos 5.2 (combination of bond and bridge)
Dear CentOS, I think i found a "bug" in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-eth script of CentOS 5.2. i can post the my changed ifup-eth script if you want. Am I the first one with this problem? Situation: - eth2 and eth3 should be in bond1 interface - bond1 should be an interface of bridge named "iscsi" the problem is that the brctl addif command in ifup-eth gets

xenbr0 isn't created anymore
Somehow I managed to disable the creation of xenbr0 on boot-up of the host system. CentOS 5 with standard CentOS Xen. I changed all Xen VMs to use xenbr0 instead of virbr0 and disabled virtlibd. Works fine. But when I later restarted the machine I found that all networking for guests had gone. On inspection there's no xenbr0 created anymore. I can get it up by stopping network (or eth0)

bonding + VLANs -> Oops/panic, no VLAN on 100 Mbit cards [SOLVED]
As the issue concerns both the -user (configuration) and -devel (OOPS), I''m sending this message to both lists. Some time ago I complained about two problems: - VLANs are not working on machines with 100 Mbit cards - I get a kernel Oops (sometimes panic) when I try to use bonding and VLANs with Xen The root of the issue is the same in both cases: VLAN interfaces must *not* be

Bug#671018: #671018 -- set tap device mac address in qemu-ifup
tags 671018 +patch thanks This issue has been fixed upstream for 4.2 by using the same hotplug scripts for tap devices as for vif devices rather than using a special qemu-ifup script. I don't think this is an appropriate thing to backport to 4.1 for wheezy so therefore I think the right fix is as Pierre suggests to set the MAC address in the qemu-ifup script. In terms of a patch to the

Bug#741456: xen-utils-common: Starting domUs with xm fails - unable to find xenbr0. Works with xl.
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.3.0-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I've just set up a fresh Jessie system using the installer dated 2014-03-05, then installed and enabled Xen 4.3. I've done this quite a few times before using Wheezy and 4.1. I set up xenbr0, then created a test domU using xen-create-image, which completed without issue. However I was unable to start the new

Disappearing TAP interface
I have a CentOS 5.2 Xen host, running several guest domains. Each guest domain has a single interface assigned to it. I am using both the network-bridge and vif-bridge scripts. On my only windows guest, the tap interface connected to the bridge keeps getting disabled. If I check "brctl show" the tap0 interface is not present, and there will be several message log entries indicating

xenbr0 vs. virtbr0
Just created the first completely new Xen VM with the Virtual Machine Manager after 5.0 became 5.1 and I notice these two differences: - there's now virbr0 instead of xenbr0. Which means I have now xenbr0 and vitbr0 interfaces running. As virbr0 just the new name for xenbr0? If so, can I just change that name in the older configuration files, so that all use the same interface name? -

bridge with IP address, "received packet with own address as source address"
Hi, I''ve set up identical (what I think) machines using SLES 10 x86_64, but a new one of those is saying frequently in /var/log/messages: kernel: bond0: received packet with own address as source address A short summary of ifconfig looks like this: bond0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:4F:2A:12:9C inet addr:132.199.176.78 Bcast:132.199.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0 eth0

Bug#671018: [xen-utils-common] qemu-ifup breaks networking by changing mac address
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.0.0-1 Severity: important Tags: patch --- Please enter the report below this line. --- when you use "hardware" virtual machine (with qemu) with xen configured for bridging the network script treates a tap interface and then /etc/xen/scripts/qemu-ifup adds it to the bridge. That would be ok but tap interfaces have a random mac address and the bridge

Bug#702337: xen-xapi / Open vSwitch not really working
Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3.2-14 Severity: important I chose the Open vSwitch (ovs) networking mode when I installed XCP # cat /etc/xcp/network.conf openvswitch Whenever I boot a VM, I notice that the vif interface is created (e.g. vif1.0) on dom0, and the vif is added to the ovs bridge (I can see it in the output of ovs-vsctl show) However, there is no connectivity, I can't ping the

Forward routed network bridge on system's vlan
Hi all, I created a two node cluster that manages virtual machines with two servers connected via a cross cable on the network 10.0.0.0/24. I want that machines that runs on different servers in the network 172.16.0.0/24 can see all the others. To make this possible I've configured a vlan on each server: ... ... 5: eth1.111 at eth1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc

KVM with bridge in one interface
Hi, I have only one ethernet port in a remote server. (eth0) I have a public address with x.x.x.164 netmask 255.255.255.240 gw x.x.x.161 and want to use in my guest OS the next available ip address (x.x.x.165 netmask 255.255.255.240 gw x.x.x.161) Is this posible with brctl to achieve this? I did a file called ifcfg-xenbr0 with: DEVICE=xenbr0 TYPE=Bridge BOOTPROTO=dhcp ONBOOT=yes then
