I don''t have a class by the name of "ReviewersScoreCard", yet my many to

No Magic for HABTM forms?
Hi,
I posted yesterday asking how to get form tags to reference the
associated objects in a habtm relationship. I was hoping for Rails
Magic, but it looks like Rails doesn''t have habtm magic beyond a
certain point.
Here was my solution for others who might have the problem. Also, I
hope someone shows me that there is a simpler way.
The Database Model:

active record aggregation
I defined the aggregation name of first_name and last_name as
recommended, works fine but I''d like to know if it''s possible (and how)
to use it in a find condition ..
@full_name ="Georges Washington"
@person = User.find(:all , :conditions => ["name LIKE ?", @full_name"]
#doesn''t run
I also tried
@person = User.find( :all, :conditions

Help with nested HABTM relationship
Hi,
I am trying to perform a query with ActiveRecord that I want to put into
a Rails application later. For now I just wrote it within a plain old
Ruby script for easier testing.
I am working with an existing database so I had to map some foreign keys
myself. As you can see from the models below, the database has a
structure of
Prospectlists <=habtm=> Contacts <=habtm=> Accounts

ids writer fields for HABTM relationship.
Hello forum readers,
Let''s say i have two models: Person and Role (i replicated the problem
with Post & Tag as well, as i thought the problem was linked to some
application-specific rights problem, but it wasn''t).
In Person, attr_accessible role_ids is declared, so it accepts an array
of Role ids as an argument when creating / updating.
If i fire up the rails console and

Trouble with the results of a dynamically generated find() method
Hi all,
So I have two tables:
- apps (short for applicants)
has_and_belongs_to_many :locations
- locations
has_and_belongs_to_many :apps
In my system, a user searches for applicants by the locations to which
they are associated, by using a dropdown menu that includes the names
of locations (and sends to the method that returns the results the id
of the selected location).
So, in the

need help with nested forms and habtm
Hi,
I''m currently stuck with a problem I just can''t find a clever solution
for. I checked every tutorial, issuetracker, API reference I could
find but found nothing to "enlighten" me --> I desperately need your
help :-).
My Question is: is it possible to use nested forms for habtm
associations?

form_remote_tag is not passing form params
I''ve searched and searched and searched again, and I cannot find any
help with this problem. There''s an identical problem on this forum, but
it was never resolved. I''ll try to re-open the subject with a bit more
information.
Problem: The form_remote_tag() method in my "list" view is not passing
the params[] hash of the values stored within my form.

has_many :through full stack help
I am trying to implement HMT for the first time and having a ton of
trouble. I would like to be able to have the user check a checkbox
and fill some extra fields for data input. I have tried so many
iterations borrowed from different places I found on the web, none
seem to work quite right. Essentially I have two models: ''practice''

Creating multiple objects from form data
I''m in the process of creating a sign up form for an online application.
The form collects account info, company info, and then info for an
administrative user.
The method looks like this:
def create
@account = Account.create!(params[:account])
@company = @account.companies.create!(params[:company])
@user = @company.users.create!(params[:user])
end
However, this inevitably fails

Re: DB Modelling the Rails way - solution by Chris Hall
Hi Chris,
Yesterday you kindly submitted an answer to my question on modelling
many to many relationships. I''ve briefly tried the proposed solution but
so far with no luck. Before I get too involved - I''d like to know if
mapping three way :join_tables is "legal" in a Rails sense. I only ask
since you put (untested) in your mail and I can''t find any docs on

refactoring commonly used aggregations
I have a number of models that use an aggregation to combine First Name,
Middle Initial and Last Name and they have been working fine. I am
looking to clean this up, DRY it if possible.
I have things like this in application.rb
class Clwholename
attr_reader :first_name, :middle_initial, :last_name
def initialize(first_name, middle_initial, last_name)

:prompt not working?
Hi all,
I''m trying to use the { :prompt => true } option in an erb form.
However, not extra option-tag is prepended to the select list. Am I
doing something wrong? (Code snipper follows.)
<%= select :user, ''person_id'', Person.find(:all, :order => ''last_name,
first_name'').collect {|p| [ p.fullname, p.id ] }, {:prompt => true} %>

HABTM: two habtm''s between the same two tables
Imagine I want to track people, and the clubs that they belong to.
table people with columns person_id, person_name
table clubs with columns club_id, club_name
And I have the association table:
table clubs_people with columns person_id, club_id
Now I know how to do this habtm between the two, in order to associate
people with clubs that they belong to.
However my application also needs a
