Xen 3.3.0 PCI passthrough with pciback.hide
Hi all,
I am trying to configure a Dom U to act as a firewall and therefore I need
to pass one of the two ethernet cards to the Dom-U.
I configured the Xen kernel to build pciback as a module and I am passing
the hide option via boot parameters.
I boot the pv machine via pygrub and I am able to see the ethernet device in
Dom U as follows:
Dom-U#lspci
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom

Problem with VT-d on Mainboard Intel DQ45CB
Hello all,
this mail is related to a post by Axel Schöner that I found at
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.user/40621
when I was searching the WEB about solutions to my problem.
I would like to confirm that VT-d with XEN 3.3 kernel 2.6.18.8 on mainboard
Intel DQ45CB seems to be broken.

VTd not showing PCI device in VM
I''m having trouble actually seeing a PCI device in my VMs. I''ve
resolved several of my issues using previous posts and using the
VTdHowTo wiki page. I have both VT and VTd BIOS options enabled. I
have pciback hiding the devices and xm can list and assign the devices
to VMs. I don''t see the PCI devices in my VMs though. I have tried a
windows and a Linux vm, without

Cannot assign device in Xen-unstable [VT-d]
Hello,
I FINALLY got Xen working with VT-d. I compiled Xen-unstable (3.3) from
Mercurial on CentOS 5.2, but compiled my own kernel-xen from the latest
CentOS SRPM. (Made sure pciback was built-in and not a module, as the stock
kernel-xen has it as a module.) I''m probably going to write a how-to soon,
so stay tuned!
I have a JMicron SATA/PATA PCI Express controller with a DQ35JO

pci passthrough under xen-3.3 without VT-d
Hi all!
I''m hoping someone here might be able to help. I''m familiar with several UNIX''es, though farily new to Linux...
I''m running RHEL 5.2. I''ve got the RHEL kernel headers installed, etc, and compiled xen-3.3.
Once that was built, I rebuilt libvirt, etc, the kernel, and all the modules. The whole mess boots and runs fine... mostly.

Unicorn doesn't play nice with Capistrano deployment?
I am having issues when using unicorn with a Capistrano deployment.
>From what I have been able to understand Capistrano uses a scheme in
wich every release is deployed inside the releases directory under a
unique name and if the transaction was successful, creates a symlink
named current that will point to that release.
So I end up with a deployment directory such as:

Xen VGA Passthrough Questions
Dear David Techer,
I have read through your article on Xen VGA passthrough on
http://www.davidgis.fr.
It appears that the following command on your blog doesn''t work.
dmesg | grep 01:00.0 | grep BAR
The above command shows nothing at all. Is there an alternative solution?
Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming)

Error: failed to assign device...VT-d isn''t enabled properly(?)
Dear List,
I need to make an Aladdin eToken Pro visible in a Linux guest HVM, but
I cannot assign the device to any domU, while it''s being blocked by
the dom0.
To avoid this trouble I would like to pass the whole USB bus to the
domU directly, via PCI passthrough.
Now I use xen 3.3.0 from xensource and xen kernel from Ubuntu 8.04
2.6.24-19-xen, because the xensource xen kernel

problem installing centos 5.3 on IBM x3200 m2
Hi,
I am trying to install centos 5.3 on ibm x3200 m2 server. The problem
appears when the installer is about to finish the installation. It detects
the RAID correctly, but it doesn't finish formatting the root partition. I
tried the default partition layout and also a custom one, but it always ends
with the same message:
An error occurred trying to format /. this problem is serious and the

Successful PCIe Graphics VT-d Passthrough to Win32 DomU, Q35 chipset
I am happy to announce that I have successfully (and finally!) been able
to pass a PCIe graphics card via VT-d to a Windows XP HVM DomU.
About time!
Config:
-Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad-Core, G0 stepping (I think)
-Intel DQ35JO Motherboard, Q35 Chipset, BIOS v.991 (1/9/09), VT and VT-d
enabled
-nVidia 9500GT (for VT-d passthrough - DomU)
-nVidia GeForce2 MX200 (Dom0 console)

IOMMU and AMD 890fx
Hi,
All the reviews for the AMD 890fx chipset reported that it supports IOMMU
v1.2.
But I cannot find any mention of that on AMD site.
Does 890fx support IOMMU?
Do 890fx motherboards with IOMMU exist?
Does Xen support 890fx?
Regards,
Leonardo

hardware isues
I have a broadcom bcm5722 and a dual intel pro/1000 pt nic in a dell
t110. The setup sees the cards and i put them into automatic mode.
After the install no cards are detected at all. Astaro 8.01 detects and
utilizes all of these cards just fine. I have also tried ubuntu server
10.04 lts and they work fine. I'm curious if this is a bug with Centos 6?

pci pass-through failure on xen 3.3.0
Hi all,
I downloaded the xen 3.3.0 and now testing the pci pass-through with the
NIC.
Using late binding, the pci slot 0000:08:01.0 is assigned to pciback.
But pci related xm commands are not working.
For eg:
linux-242:/home/xen-3.3.0 # xm pci-list-assignable-devices
Unexpected error: <type ''exceptions.OSError''>

MSI causing softpanics in guest
lspci shows MSI enabled for PCI device. PCI passthrough works fine.
However, as soon as the MSI driver for card is insmodded, kernel panics.
This is on xen-unstable. Tried the same with xen-3.3.0 which is
supposed to have MSI passthrough, but the same guest shows MSI as disabled.
Any else seen this bug, or know of a workaround ?
