drifting clock in domUs
Hello,
On a xenserver with several (39) domUs, we experience problems with the
system clock of the domUs. The clock seems to drift away several seconds
up to two minutes from the dom0 clock.
We do have set independent_wallclock=0. According to the docs (i.e.
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/InstallationNotes) that way domUs
should use the dom0 clock, but apparently that''s not the case.

/proc/sys/xen/permitted_clock_jitter
Hello to all,
I''ve noticed a value of 10000000
in /proc/sys/xen/permitted_clock_jitter.
I''m assuming thats only checked if independent_wallclock has a value
greater than 0.
Does anyone know what unit the 10000000 represents?
Thanks in advance
Tim

guest clock
I have numerous problems with my para- and hardware- virtualizated guests.
Clock in guests drifts up to many days. Sometimes it happens after xendomains
service saves and restores state on reboot, sometimes not, sometimes it
happens when I am sleeping :). I use latest fedora 8 with latest updates (I
have had problem since fedora 6 ...) My proc settings:
/proc/sys/xen/permitted_clock_jitter is

real time clock drift
This must be documented somewhare but I checked the Xen 3.0 manual and
the word "clock" doesn''t even exist in it. I checked the FAQ as well.
I am running Xen 3.0.1 and an AMD64 CPU. I found that DOMUs time clock
drifts ahead. I installed ntpdate and it reports to change the time but
it does not.

Time/clock issues with Xen 3.0.3?
The time appears to be perfect inside dom0, however all the domU''s
tend to have a slightly faster date which gets further out of sync
every day.
I''m currently using Xen 3.0.3 with Gentoo Linux, under 3.0.2 I had no
problems with domU clocks. Are there any known issues which could
cause this? I''d strongly prefer not to run ntpd in every domU,
having all domU clocks in

Bug#638837: independent_wallclock sysctl has gone away?
Package: xen
Severity: important
Version: 4.0.1-1
The Xen documentation and Xen Debian wiki describes using
independent_wallclock to sync domU clocks against the dom0 clock

This sysctl appears to have gone away with squeeze, but the
documentation is not updated

keeping correct time in guest
Hello,
I know, often asked, often discussed .. No recommendation from Citrix.
What is the better solution?
1) use ntp in the XEN host and synchronize the guests with the clock
running on the control domain (independent_wallclock=0, what the
default is)
2) or use ntp in host and guest (and independent_wallclock=1)
I ask, because the XEN host (bare metal) has a more stable clock and
if the ntp

I couldn''t find any information on Hp''s site neither Intel''s site ...
Thanks !

Nehalem & Digium Wildcard issues?
Just putting this out there to see if anyone else has seen any issues.
May cross-post to asterisk-dev if it's indeed a bug (and not my own
stupidity).
I've got a Digium TE220 (2xT1 interface w/Echo canceller) that in two
separate Nehalem-based (Xeon E5520 "Gainestown") boxes (HP ProLiant
ML350 G6; HP Z800 Workstation) has caused numerous kernel panics. This

Installing centos in a Compaq ML350 G5
We bought a Compaq ML350 G5.
When trying to install Centos, I got the message:
No disk installed. and centos suggest me a list of drivers, but none of them
seems to work.
Has anybody tried this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Problem detecting HP Tape Drive
Hello
I do have problem using Linux with an external HP tape drive. The
server platform is also an HP Server; the server is an HP ML350 G4,
and the Tape drive is a HP Storage Works Ultrium 448 - 1U
Rack-mountable.
HP Ultrium documentation says two drivers should be automatically
up, sym53c8xx for LSI SCSI interface "st" for tape and /proc/scsi/scsi
should contain information about

domU time slipping behind dom0
Hi.
My domU date is about 75 seconds (and climbing?) behind domU.
Tue Feb 21 23:11:31 UTC 2006 - dom0
Tue Feb 21 23:10:16 UTC 2006 - domu
Tue Feb 21 18:10:17 EST 2006 - domu
domUs'' /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock was 0
Set that to 1: echo 1 > /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock
Still out by about 75 seconds:

xen.independent_wallclock
Hello.
On kernel from linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-686, there
is /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock sysctl that may be used to decoupte
domU clock from domO clock. This is needed to run ntp in domU.
On kernel from linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686, there is no such ioctl.
Is that a bug or a feature?
Is it possible to decoupte domU clock from domO clock when domU is running

independent_wallclock=0, domU''s date is 16 mins behind dom0''s date
If independent_wallclock is set to 0, then that means running ''date''
in the domU should provide exactly the same answer as running ''date''
on dom0, right?
But this isn''t happening for us. The domU''s are all running minutes
behind the dom0 - in one case 16 minutes behind!

independent_wallclock in dom0
Hi all, can anybody please explain me what changes if i set
independent_wallclock to 1 in dom0.
I know that setting it to 1 in domU means that the domU will have his clock
running independently from dom0 but I don''t understand what does it means
setting it to 1 in dom0.

Hardware Compatibility HP Proliant - Sangoma PCI Express
Hi to all, I am in the process of setup a new asterisk server, I think in
the HP Proliant ML350 G6 Server (aprox. 100 SIP Users), and Sangoma A102DE
Card.
The specs of the Proliant (HP PART 487932-001) about PCI are the next.
1 ( 1 ) x PCI Express 2.0 x16 ( x8 mode ) ,
1 ( 1 ) x PCI Express 2.0 x8 ( x8 mode ) ,
4 ( 3 ) x PCI Express 2.0 x8 ( x4 mode )
The question is, if
