How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi. I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE. The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes ages untill a VM can

PXE problem after CentOS reboot
Dear folks, We are installing a large diskless cluster using CentOS 5.1. The hardware is pretty new - Supermicro X7DWT boards with Harpertown CPUs. Unfortunately we have some PXE-related problems described by the following scenario: 1) Set up DHCP, TFTP and NFS on a server, prepare PXE kernel and initrd - fine. 2) Start up the node using PXE for the first time - fine. 3) Reboot the node - PXE

Client machine cannot acquire the IP from dhcp server
Hi, syslinux: I use pxelinux to install Linux from network. Currently, my problem is: The first time, the client machine can acquire the IP address from dhcp server but at the second time, the client machine cannot acquire the IP again. The only way is to remove the /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases file in server and restart the dhcpd service. Then the client machine can get the IP again.

CentOS 4.6 - dhcp issue
Hi - On my CentOS 4 cobbler server i am having some odd dhcp issues. There is only 1 dhcp server on the network and the cobbler box manages the dhcp. When i kick off the PXE install during the PXE phase things seem OK then when anaconda tried to get an IP sometimes things work out fine and other times it sits waiting for hostname/domainname. From the logs you can see that the mac requesting

what does "not found" mean in a DHCPRELEASE context?
I have a CentOS 4.6 server running dhcpd. One of my client devices (a Panasonic KX-HCM280A camera) is trying to get a lease from that server. I can see the device accept a lease (it is a reservation), however it always releases the reservation after about 25 seconds: Jul 10 10:30:49 stargate dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:80:f0:56:46:30 via eth0 Jul 10 10:30:49 stargate dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on

broken network-support for netBSD-domUs?
Hello. I recently tried installing NetBSD-5 on xen-4.0.1-rc5, which resulted in no network (xennet0 can''t get IPs per dhclient and has no connectivity if set by hand). Tried it with netBSD-5.1-RC3-1 i386 PAE & amd64, netBSD-5.0 and even 4, all with the same result. On a older xen version (3.3.1) networking works fine, so I assume it''s a xen bug, and not a netBSD-kernel

macaddress blacklist problem
I helped set up a firewall at my brother''s church and we are running shorewall 1.4.6b on a redhat 9 box. Works well. [root@fumcbafw shorewall]# uname -r 2.4.20-19.9 [root@fumcbafw shorewall]# iptables --version iptables v1.2.7a The box also serves as a dhcp server for the church offices and there is one box that apparently still has the old firewall config (zone alarm) on it since it

Securring DHCP, with DDNS
Hello All, I have 2 samba4 AD server with dhpd and dynamic DNS. I have well understand that for now it's not possible to have 2 DHCP server running in the same time. So I would have at a time only one dhcp server running. If the first server got a problem I want to manually start the isc-dhcp service in the second to rescue the system. But It's not working as I expected... If I switch
