dom0 iptables
Ok, I am setting up a new dom0 at a colo provider and usually the colo facility acts as my gateway, but at this new one, the provider is recommending that I use the server as its own gateway. That unfortunately doesnt work to well when it comes to iptables and my domU''s. IPtables do not support virtual interfaces, so I can''t just white list them unfortunately. I have tried many

circular table refs in activerecord
I cannot find this anywhere, and it is holding up a project. I have a *very* simple rails app with three tables, one of which is the users table: users: Column | Type | Modifiers ---------------+-----------------------------+----------------- id | integer | not null default nextval(''public.users_id_seq''::text) login

How to beat Google aka Xapian & Natural Language Processing.
Xapians! If tomorrow Xapian search engine would achieved the same performance and result in searches as Google we would not be able to beat Google, because we would create only a copy of the searches that already exists from Google search engine. However there is a way to beat anyone, and there is a way to beat Google successfully as well just do not give up. Some see it as implementing Ajax, or

Writing to a Win98 share?
Hi all. Very simple question, hopefully with a very simple answer.... Here's my problem... I'm mounting a Windows98(se) share (yes, with full permissions, no password) onto my Linux box. Mounts just fine, all users can read from it perfectly. However, NO users except for root can write to the share! How can I fix this? Here's my mount line for the share from /etc/fstab:

Validating the presence of two associated objects from both models
I have a model “Conversation” and a model “Leader”. A Conversation is always led by exactly 1 Leader. I’ve overridden Conversation’s “validate” method to validate the presence of an associated Leader model. If I add a similar validation to the Leader model, however, Conversations can no longer be saved on creation because the Leader model is invalid. On creation of both a new Conversation and

a grep/regexpr problem
Hi, I'm trying to parse lines of the form: dan001.hin (0): fingerprint={256, 411, 426, 947, 973, 976} What I need is the sequence of number between {}. I'm using grep as match <- grep("{([0-9,\s]*)}",s,perl=T,value=T) where s is a character vector. But all I get is the whole string s. I tried using regexpr in an attempt to get just the sequence I wanted: match <-

adding layouts within layouts
Hi, I want to be able to have several layouts within each other so that I don''t have to keep repeating the layout code for one, in another. An example would be having a layout for the title of your web page and then having an embedded layout for the body portion in which the HTML for whatever view gets displayed. Is this possible? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An

Dedicated Servers
Hi, A little bit off topic here, but I was wondering if anybody knows about a good dedicate server provider, that offers CentOS (but ofcourse) as a os choice, and that is very reliable. I am using SuperbServer, but as of this moment 2007/03/19 1406 America/NewYork time, my server is down do to a power outage at one of their facilities in VA. This is the second outage in less that 5 months.

Windows XP Machines (well mostly the XP ones) hanging
Hello Folks, I will personally send $50(AU) of Pizza to anyone that solves this one :) We have a network comprising approx 30 Windows workstations all logging in to a samba machine running as a PDC. The main exported file system is an NFS mounted file system, but this was happening back when this was an xfs file system as well. ACL's are enabled. We are running Samba Version 2.2.8a. The

/usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm: invalid option -- ''-vncconnect''
Hi. I can''t use the vnc option (VNC=1 in my xmexample.hvm file), when I use RedHat or Fedora on 64 bits. The qemu log, say /usr/lib64/xen/bin/qemu-dm: invalid option -- ''-vncconnect'' But when I use RedHat or Fedora 32 bits, works fine. There is a problem or incompatibility in the 64 bits Xen kernel and the VNC option ? Best regards Luis

File uploads giving "page not found" on IE
I am having a really wierd problem in IE. I have a simple file upload form with two selects and a textarea. This is a medical transcription application - very simply an administrator can upload a file and assign it to both a doctor and a transcriptionist at the same time and optionally provide a note to the transcriptionist. If I remove the MT selector, it always works. If it''s on

Hello, I just upgraded some of my el6xen boxes to latest CentOS 6.7, Xen 4.4.3 and dom0 3.18.17 rpms, and noticed these new problems: 1) virt-manager fails to start with an error: "D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory" And indeed.. there was no such file. TellMe Voice Recognition in Asterisk working..
A couple of weekends ago I decided to see if I could get Asterisk to play nice with TellMe's VoiceXML studio. They provide the VoiceXML studio for free, and you can access it through SIP, so I thought this would be a fun and cheap way to integrate voice recognition into my IVR. I have posted a brief tutorial with code and examples on the voip-info.org wiki (
