Hard Problem /w XenSource / XenEnterprise.
Hi,
Our group would really like to use XenSource to run a very large number of
parallel Windows XP VMs, but there are several issues we need to overcome or
else we''ll have to use ESX instead. This is pretty high priority so if
there is a high-level tech at XenSource who knows how to solve this, we
would be really grateful.

Raid 1 OS Drives with XenEnterprise?
I''m trying to install XenEnterprise with raid 1 for its OS drives but
the installer doesn''t seem to have this ability. Is there some way to
install it in raid 1? The reason I need this is in case the OS drive
fails, the whole system doesn''t go down.

Can XenEnterprise support Windows without VT technology?
Hi
Our system need to support Windows Guest OS,but we don't plan to buy new VT servers.
I know xen 3.0 support Windows only on VT or Pacific processor.
Does XenEnterprise support Windows only on VT or Pacific processor?
Thanks.

nv66 and XenEnterprise
Hi,
Can anyone shed any light on how to install b66 as a DomU guest of a XenEnterprise 3.2 Dom0? Or is this currently an impossible task?
I did try it out and the install goes through the initial boot sequence/menu but then bombs out when trying to access the virtual DVD drive containing the Solaris files with the "can''t find Windowing software" message, similar error with

Bridge Networking stops working at random times
Supermicro X7DWN+, XEON 5410, Centos 5.2, Xen 3.2.1
At what looks like random times network traffic over xen bridge stops
working, the only way I found to fix it is a reboot. This sometimes takes
10 min, other times it may be up for 10 days. This happened with default
xen that comes with RedHat EL 5.2 as well as a default install of Fedora
8.
Any ideas?

Xen - Backend or Frontend or Both?
I have 6 boxes with a client config (see below) across 6 boxes. I am using
distribute across 3 replicate pairs. Since I am running xen I need to
disable-direct-io and that slows things down quite a bit. My thought was
to move the replicate / distribute to the backend server config so that
self heal can happen on faster backend rather then frontend client with
disable-direct-io.
Does this

Xen issues with Gluster
Trying to get Xen working with Gluster. I understand you need
--disable-direct-io-mode, however that cuts my disk I/O from 130 MB/s to
only 22 MB/s.
Also when I try to use xen with tap:aio, but only get to Creating root

open file heal
So I have a problem, I have learned that GlusterFS 2.0.8 will not self heal
on open files. This would not be a huge problem, except I am running xen
and my files are basically always open. I have been running things for
about a week now and I am concerned that when I have a crash I could lose
all the new data.
Is there a way to see what node GlusterFS is using for a open file and is
there a

[PATCH 2/5] Xen/MCE: vMCE injection
Xen/MCE: vMCE injection
In our test for win8 guest mce, we find a bug that no matter what SRAO/SRAR
error xen inject to win8 guest, it always reboot.
The root cause is, current Xen vMCE logic inject vMCE# only to vcpu0, this is
not correct for Intel MCE (Under Intel arch, h/w generate MCE# to all CPUs).
This patch fix vMCE injection bug, injecting vMCE# to all vcpus.

disk performance about half in domU? + question about XenSource
Based on some tests we ran, it seems the biggest performance
hit you get from running within domU is from disk I/O. We
did some mysql read and write tests, and for both, our
performance is about half that compared to native. Has that
been others'' experience?
Is there any way to make this better? We are using physical
partitions. In contrast, cpu/memory tests appear to be near

[PATCH][Retry 1] 1/4: cpufreq/PowerNow! in Xen: Xen timer changes
Enable cpufreq support in Xen for AMD Operton processors by:
1) Allowing the PowerNow! driver in dom0 to write to the PowerNow!
MSRs.
2) Adding the cpufreq notifier chain to time-xen.c in dom0.
On a frequency change, a platform hypercall is performed to
scale the frequency multiplier in the hypervisor.

GlusterFS & XenServer Baremetal
Hello,
What is for you the best GlusterFS scenario in using XenServer (i'm not
talking about Xen on a linux but XenServer baremetal) for a web farm
(Apache-Tomcat) ? I were thinking of using ZFS as the filesystem for the
different nodes.
The objectives/needs :
* A storage cluster with the capacity equal to at least 1 node(assuming all
nodes are the same).
* being able to lose/take down any

Examining a dump from /opt/xensource/libexec/dumpcore
Hey All,
I have a dump of a VM using /opt/xensource/libexec/dumpcore on XS5.5
Does anyone know what tools can be used to examine the resultant dump?
Regards
David

xensource Wiki - cannot edit pages
Hi,
I wondered why the pages on the Wiki are immutable?? The page
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenStoreReference contains an
errorneous Python example and I want to correct it. Does anybody have
access to the Wiki? (and yes, I just created an account)
Cheers

[XCP/Kronos/XenSource] Fast cloning with copy-on-write
I''ve just been playing with XenSource and Kronos packages, but the fast
cloning ability from XenServer doesn''t appear to be available. Where does
this come from exactly, is it something built into Xen or is there a
component of XenServer that''s needed to handle it?
I was hoping to use Xen on Debian with my web app controlling it using
either XAPI or Libvirt, but I

Maybe there's a way to get an exception here. Other distributions should
also be contacted to coordinate and seek help.
