changing names of vectors in list or data.frame
When I combine separate vectors into one list, there are new names
created. I'd like to change them to something more meaningful.
Here are two examples using data(zelazo) from library(ISwR):

vbd & vnif support for smp guest?
I had a try to insert vbd & vnif modules for ia32 smp hvm guest, and
find that if I do not enable acpi in the config file, hvm guest will
crash after "insmod xen-platform-pci.ko". However, if I enable acpi in
the config file, "insmod xen-platform-pci.ko" and "insmod xenbus.ko"
could pass, but "insmod xen-vnif.ko" or "insmod xen-vbd.ko" will

ANOVA/ANCOVA Repeated Measure Mixed Model
Hello,
I am trying to test some results I have for significance. It has been
recommended that I use R and I am completely new to this.
Set-up:
Groups: two groups of 8 subjects (16 total)
Two conditions: alert and passive
Measurements: responses for three different stimuli (A, B, and C)
measured in each condition
Experiment: Testing the order of conditions
Group one: Alert A, B

[PATCH] Xenoprof passive domain support
Hi Renato,
This patch is to add Xenoprof passive domain support in SMP environment.
Basically:
- It allocates per vcpu buffers for passive domain and maps them into
primary domain''s space.
- When primary domain gets sampled and triggers virq, its kernel module
will handle passive domain'' samples besides its owns. There is potential
buffer overflow if passive is very busy while

ActiveRecord 'find_or_initialize_by' dynamic finder bug? Ignoring conditions.
Hello all,
I just ran into something that I think is a bug, and I would like to
confirm with the core team whether this is expected/desired behavior
or if this is a bug that I should file and develop failing tests for
(I doubt I have the active record method_missing fu to actually patch
it).
Test Scenario:
I would like to find or initialize a new user and base the find on the

NEWBIE: Help explaining use of lm()?
I'm attempting the heruclean task of teaching myself Introductory
Statistics and R at the same time. I'm working through Peter Dalgaard's
Introductory Statistics with R, but don't understand why the answer to
one of the exercises works. I'm hoping someone will have the patience to
explain the answer to me, both in the statistics and R areas.
Exercise 6.1 says:

ftp daemon problem
New install of CentOS 4.1; our first try at the 4.x.
On previous 3.x installs we've used proftpd.
On this one we're using (trying to use is a better statement of what
we're going through) the default daemon, /usr/sbin/vsftpd.
But we don't get anywhere.

FTP server not on port 21 problems - I do have read the FAQ
Hi!
I use standard Bering 2.2.2. I am trying to get my FTP-server to work
with another portnumber than 21 (On port 21 all works great, but I´m
really interested in running two FTP-servers, so I want to figure this one
out first).
Read the FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FTP.html and now I got this setup:
In Rules: DNAT net loc:192.168.3.2 tcp 99
In Shorewalls modules.conf (tried

Bond & Team: RX dropped packets
Hi all,
we are testing CentOS 7 in order to migrate from Scientific Linux 6 /
CentOS 6 and we are facing an issue with the network. Trying to configure
network with teaming in activebackup mode or also with bonding in mode=1
(active backup as well) we see many RX dropped packets in the bond0
interface (around 10% of the total), 100% RX drops in the backup interface
and 0% in the active interface.

geo-replication
Hi all,
I am planning my new gluster system and tested things out in
a bunch of virtual machines.
I need a bit of help to understand how geo-replication behaves.
I have a master gluster cluster replica 2
(in production I will use an arbiter and replicatied/distributed)
and the geo cluster is distributed with 2 machines.
(in production I will have the geo cluster distributed)
Everything is up

geo-replication
Hi again,
I made some more tests and the behavior I get is that if any of
the slaves are down the geo-replication stops working.
It this the way distributed volumes work, if one server goes down
the entire system stops to work?
The servers that are online do not continue to work?
Sorry, for asking stupid questions.
Best regards
Marcus

geo-replication
Thank you for your help!
Just to make things clear to me (and get a better understanding of gluster):
So, if I make the slave cluster just distributed and node 1 goes down,
data (say file.txt) that belongs to node 1 will not be synced.
When node 1 comes back up does the master not realize that file.txt has not
been synced and makes sure that it is synced when it has contact with node 1 again?
So

add geo-replication "passive" node after node replacement
Hi all,
i had a replica 2 gluster 3.12 between S1 and S2 (1 brick per node)
geo-replicated to S5 where both S1 and S2 were visible in the
geo-replication status and S2 "active" while S1 "passive".
I had to replace S1 with S3, so I did an
"add-brick replica 3 S3"
and then
"remove-brick replica 2 S1".
Now I have again a replica 2 gluster between S3 and S2

FirewallD and FTP passive mode
Howdy
I'm trying to run FTP server behind firewall. And i can't enable passive
mode from the Internet. There are plenty howtos but there aren't many
with my combination.
For now i have configured port forwarding and ftp server itself.
On the router:
# firewall-cmd --list-all --zone=external
external (active)
interfaces: enp3s1
sources:
services: openvpn ssh
ports: 1194/tcp

Problem with VSFTP
I have a vsftp server hosted on custom dyndns site. We have a 4mb ADSL
connection. When I tried to download the files from the ftp server with wan
IP address or the dyndns address it downloads some files and disconnects.
Please find below an extract from the log file (ace ftp client). I would
appreciate if someone could guide me, possibly with a solution for this
problem.
Many thanks

Unable to do passive ftp after updating to 2.0.9
Hi,
I''m using the same set of firewall rules of 2.0.x
(sorry, I can''t remember the exact minor version) and
put it to work with 2.0.9. And now I can''t do passive
ftp (was working before).
I see that my NEWNOTSYN is set to Yes, and the
loc->net rule is blocking 1024:65535.
But I believe with the ip_conntrack_ftp, the passive
mode would be allowed, since

VSFTPD passive mode is not working
I have Centos 5.7 64bit; I have installed vsftpd as standalone service and using it for two years now with no problem. Suddenly; only it works with active mode. The passive mode stops working and gives time out. Firewall is disabled and SELinux is set to permissive.
I ran tcpdump and I noticed that only first three packets reached the FTP for passive mode and no more packets on other ports
