stateless dom0
Hello,
I''m trying to setup stateless dom0 host image.
The idea is to make dom0 host diskless booted off storage/pxe. What are
the best practices of making such a setup ?
I already tried nfs-root iscsi-root and aoe-root all these setups works
perfect, what about making xen running rootless I mean in ramdisk ?

How to support iSCSI multipath...
Hi Bootmeisters,
I am using gpxelinux.0 + sanboot.c32 to boot a diskless machine into Linux. I
would like to use device-mapper-multipath to provide fault tolerant access to
its root disk.
Although I am able to do this by hardcoding the additional paths in the initrd,
it would be better if the bootloader could pass the information in the iBFT
(iSCSI Boot Firmware Table). However, at the

xen hvmloader gpxe
I am testing several Operating System Streaming products to streams
virtual desktops.
They always requires pxe boot but xen seems to have a pxe which is not
suitable.
I got the same problem with kqemu and kvm and I solved it using gpxe.
With xen I tried to chainloading gpxe (following gpxe wiki) but
hvmloader fails to load it (memory problem?).
Any workaround

HVM iSCSI Boot ROM
Microsoft has their "boot" version of their iSCSI software initiator. Apparently this still requires that the network card be iSCSI Boot "enabled." Intel seems to be the only obvious company out there supporting it on their Server adapters - I was wondering if there are any thoughts/plans on implementing iSCSI Boot functionality in the HVM Boot ROM? Or maybe there''s

iSCSI root on Dom0
I am getting the following error on boot on a new install Centos 51:
#/bin/sh ro no such file or directory
then a kernel panic
I have traced it to the call ''switchroot'' in the init script in the initrd.
the exact same build without zen has no problems.
the boot messages look like:
Attaching to iSCSI storage

windows 2003
I have finally gotten one version of windows 2003 r2 x64 installed as a
guest.
The bad news is no network.
The network tab says it''s a realtek 8139 when I know it is a intel. I tried
downloading the intel drivers and they wont install says it''s the wrong hard
ware. Is this common that it uses a 8139 as a generic network card?
Also the network card shows

Booting Diskless Workstations
I made a post in the Fedora list that didn't yield much help regarding this.
I need to use a CentOS5.1 server to remotely boot a few Fedora 9
workstations. I have the option of using straight PXE, or even reflashing
gPXE to the LOM for the clients. What I am interested in knowing is the
best approach to this.
1. Should I just do iSCSI backed diskless setups? Probably doesn't scale well.

ATA-over-Ethernet v's iSCSI
Nick,
What are you planning on running over the shared connection? Database, eMail, File Shares? How many users? How much data? What is your I/O profile?
I've worked with 'enterprise' storage most of my career either as a consumer, adviser or provider - can't comment on AoE other than to suggest you look at what are the business & technical goals, how they solve it and what

HA Xen on 2 servers!! No NFS, special hardware, DRBD or iSCSI...
I''ve been brainstorming...
I want to create a 2-node HA active/active cluster (In other words I want to run a handful of
DomUs on one node and a handful on another). In the event of a failure I want all DomUs to fail
over to the other node and start working immediately. I want absolutely no
single-points-of-failure. I want to do it with free software and no special hardware. I want

Aoe or iScsi???
Hi people...
Here we use Xen 4 with Debian Lenny... We''re using kernel 2.6.31.13
pvops...
As a storage system, we use AoE devices...
So, we installed VM''s on AoE partition... The "NAS" server is a Intel
based baremetal with SATA hard disc...
However, sometime I feeling that VM''s is so slow...
Also, all VM has GPLPV drivers installed...
So, I am thing about

PXE Boot Menu with iSCSI and AOE!
Dear developer,
I am working on a project for my graduate work (diploma), which includes iSCSI and AOE booting. I made some menus using pxelinux and things are working fine with linux, but I have a small problem with windows system which require direct iscsi or aoe access.
I have dhcpd.conf setup that it to each first dhcp request handles out pxelinux.0, then I can chooose from that menu which OS

[Bridge] aoe/vblade on "localhost"
hello !
i try to use a network technology on one single host, which wasn`t designed for that.
to give a short overview of what i`m talking about:
AoE is just like a "networked blockdevice" (just like nbd/enbd) - but without tcp/ip.
AoE kernel driver is the "client end" (see this like an iSCSI initiator) - and an etherblade storage appliance is the "server end"

lenny amd64 and xen.
I''ve installed debian lenny amd64, it is frozen now.
I''ve install kernel for xen support but it doesn''t start.
It says "you need to load kernel first" but I''ve installed all the packages
concerning xen, also packages related to the kernel.
Perhaps lenny doesn''t support xen anymore?
Any solution?

AOE (Ata over ethernet) troubles on xen 2.0.6
I understand that all work is going into xen3, but I had wanted to note
that aoe (drivers/block/aoe) is giving me trouble on xen 2.0.6 (so we
can keep and eye on xen3).
Specifically I can''t see nor export AOE devices. As a quick background
on AOE, it is not IP (not routable, etc), but works with broadcasts and
packets to MAC addresses (see http://www.coraid.com).

Looking for tips about Physical Migration on XEN
Hi people.
Im new on Xen and I''m looking in how to do a physical migration on Xen. I
know that there is a lot of choices (that is the first problem)
My environment is simple:
2 physical servers, each one running one instance of XEN. Each host has 2
gigabit cards. One to talk with the world, other to talk between
theirselves.
I want to run the every vm on the both hosts, if one fail

Anyone got Diskless BOOT working under CentOS ???
Im trying to get a diskless boot set up under CentOS 5.2, and having no luck
at all.
I am to the point of running system-config-netboot, and whatever information
I put in, I get an error message.
Responding to the 2nd button on the first popup, which asks for NFS info,
I put in the IP address of the current machine (the machine that will hold
the boot images for the diskless machine) and the

best practices in using shared storage for XEN Virtual Machines and auto-failover?
Hi all,
Can anyone pleas tell me what would be best practice to use shared
storage with virtual machines, especially when it involved high
availability / automated failover between 2 XEN servers?
i.e. if I setup 2x identical XEN servers, each with say 16GB RAM, 4x
1GB NIC''s, etc. Then I need the xen domU''s to auto failover between
the 2 servers if either goes down (hardware
