Reading the api docs help
Ok so I am at a point that I read my entire book front to back and around and a around. And now digging through it again .. But I am now missing a key piece to the clues is the api. I found http://www.gotapi.com/index.html as a great search tool. But I can''t make heads or tails of it besides a basic search for exactly what I am looking for by word. But if I dont know the word I am

Ruby on Rails Searchable and Annotatable Docs
I recently updated my Rannotate application. The interface has been completely redone and there are lots of new features. The basic idea is to create searchable and user annotatable documentation for the Ruby on Rails API (think php.net). Check it out at - http://rails.outertrack.com * What is Rannotate? Rannotate is a Rails application and RDoc YAML generator that work together to provide

Linux, Windows AD domain, and IDs
I have a Windows 200x AD Server and have a Linux box as a client connected to the Windows domain having modified the native Kerberos, smb.conf, and other files (not using Likewise). It logs in to the domain fine and everything is happy. There are NO local accounts in /etc/passwd except for the defaults out of the box. Authentication relies on the accounts of the Windows server. I have no

rpm -q versus what's installed
I am trying to install Oracle client 10g (10.2.0) on a 64-bit CentOS 5.0 system. 'rpm -q make gcc glibc etc' reveals some packages as "not installed", yet a yum install <package name> consistently returns Nothing to do. Yum list available <package name> yields nothing needed. If rpm -q <list of packages> lists some that are "not installed" but

Incorrect Example in Samba User Management Documentation
Hi Samba documentation admins, one of the the examples given on this page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_and_Group_management is incorrect and probably should be updated. The snippet of code in question: $ samba-tool user add fbaggins    --random-password --use-username-as-cn    --surname="Baggins" --given-name="Frodo"    --initials=S --mail-address=fbaggins at

Using rspec_on_rails without a test database
Is there some way to remove the database hit when running rake rspec:models ? I''d like to mock all of my objects (or at least remove all reliance on fixtures and the database itself) - both for speed and because static fixtures are brittle. Best Regards, Scott Taylor

Linux bridging and cascaded switches
Hi - Still plugging away at my Linux bridge/firewall and thinking through the consequences. In a normal firewall situation, the Internet is on one side, the internal LAN on the other. Duh! But now, with a Linux bridge in the middle, the whole thing becomes one big messy LAN. So we have a scenario that looks like this: Internal---User---Core-----Firewall---Internet---Internet router Servers

Any documentation for routes?
I''m having a hard time setting up routes. So far what I have is that accessing /photos/view/YYYY-MM-DD correctly accesses the photo stored for that date, but I''d like to be able to access this as simply "/YYYY-MM-DD" My first guess of: map.connect '':year-:month-:day'', :controller => ''photos'', :action =>

Local Calling Area database?
Is there an easy way to get information about local calling areas out of telcos? I'm trying to get a list of area codes and prefixes in my local calling area out of Verizon, and it looks like they've stopped providing the information online. Is there an easy source that I'm missing, or do I need to call them and have them mail me a copy every few months? Scott

Per Database Migrations
Is there away to have parts of a migration file only work with a specific database. For example I am inserting some data into a table with: execute "INSERT INTO demo_lists(position, name, updated_at, created_at) VALUES (1, 1, ''scott'', CURDATE(), CURDATE());" Of course the curdate() function may only be available on mysql. So can we some how determine which

[LLVMdev] CLR or C++/CLI interface to IR building API
Hi Our front end is written in a CLR language, and we're currently interacting with the middle/back-end by writing out .ll files. This was convenient to get started with, but they're getting to a "huge and unwieldy" stage now. I was wondering if anyone's attempted writing proxy/wrapper C++/CLI classes so that the IR API can be used directly from managed languages. Any

Offering an Asterisk Documentation and FAQ Portal

Documentation for mocks?
Is there any documentation about how mock objects work in RoR, specifically exactly how one should use the test/mocks directory. Is it just me being incompetent searching for it, or hasn''t this been documented yet? Thanks in advance for your help! paul.butcher->msgCount++ Snetterton, Castle Combe, Cadwell Park...
