Is RAMDISK required for domU boot?
Hi, I found one weird thing: I heard RAMDISK is not required for domU, but it seems I have to add RAMDISK to my domU config file, otherwiese the domU will hang up when it is booting. Please see the message below, the domU booting hangs up after "Continuing..." Does anyone have any clue for this issue? BTW, xen-friendly glibc is already installed. Thanks, Liang ---Begin of domU

Xen 3.0.4 + CentOS5.2 "Could not mount root filesystem."
I''m trying to install Xen 3.0.4 But It couldn''t mount root filesystem. I''m using the board, loads AMD SB750 chipset. I''m guessing the reason that is the lack of sata driver in 2.6.16.33-xen. So, when I copy libata and ata_piix driver from other driver from compatible kernel source, could it be running well? And, could you advice about copying drivers?

CentOS 5.1 and Xen - mount: could not find filesystem ''/dev/root''
Hi all- I''m hoping someone can help me with this problem with Xen under CentOS 5.1 (RHEL 5.1) I''m having... This is the Xen package that comes stock with the distribution, I didn''t compile it from source. I can boot Domain0 and the hypervisor just fine. I''m trying to bring up a Xen guest VM and it crashes on boot, with this error: # xm create -c tcga1

Kernel Panic, root filesystem causing?
I''m getting an odd kernel panic which I cannot get the whole error for, I believe it has something to do with a designation for the root filesystem. About the time it would be mounting the root filesystem, there is a kernel panic and it reboots less than 1 second later. I have lokoed around for dmesg logs and tried using the magic PAUSE, but with no luck. Recommendations? I

[PATCH][XM-TEST] Make sure rcS is executable before ramdisk build
This patch (against unstable) makes sure that the skel/etc/init.d/rcS file is executable before building the final ramdisk image. This should fix the problem some people are having with their ramdisk builds. -- Dan Smith IBM Linux Technology Center Open Hypervisor Team email: danms@us.ibm.com _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list

QCOW in RAMDISK on Xen
I have been messing with QCOW on Xen and I''ve come to the conclusion that nobody actually uses it otherwise it would work. Has anyone gotten QCOW2 and Xen to work reliably? I have 40 PV VMs that are identical (initially) and would like to move from separate disk images to one base image sitting in a ramdisk and the COW images hosted on an iSCSI storage device. The VMs would boot off the

"Old method" bootloader failing with large ramdisk
I''m trying to boot a PV guest using the "old method" of passing kernel= and ramdisk= and it appears to work fine with a "small" initrd but not with a "large" one. (Small is 4MB, large is 154MB.) I''m sure both of the initrd''s are properly gzip''ed etc. Unpacked, the large one approaches 400M. By doing some kernel startup debugging,

[PATCH] Minor fix to the fast emulation patch.
Hello, The fast emulation path patch introduced a bug when we have an event injection during a write to a pagetable: after removing shadows we still jump to the done label, releasing the lock even if we aren''t grabbing it. Inline patch fixes this. Signed-off-by: Gianluca Guida <gianluca.guida@eu.citrix.com> diff -r 8848d9e07584 xen/arch/x86/mm/shadow/multi.c ---
