Is it possible that xenoprof active domain profiling using pvops jeremy''s kernel
my system configuration xen 3.4.2, oprofile 0.9.5( xenoprof patched ), dom0( jeremy''s pvops kernel 2.6.31.6 - patched dullor''s xenoprof patch ), domU( vanilla kernel 2.6.32 with paravirt enabled ), distribution( ubuntu 9.10 ) In passive mode, xenoprof seems to work well, opreport showed good information. but, in active mode, it seems not to be done correctly. my command is

Xenoprof in an HVM domain
I''m looking into getting Xenoprof to tun in an HVM domain, since we will eventually need a profiler for HVM domains to track down areas of poor performance. (HVMs have poor performance? :) ) Being relatively new to OProfile, Xenoprof, and Xen internals, I would appreciate any pointers, tips, and comments on how to work the implementation. I see three basic areas of work. 1. Implement

FW: oprofile 0.9.3 xen symbols incorrect
Hi I am using oprofile 0.9.3 on xen cs 16540 on an Intel system. When I look at the top "hot" functions, I see p2m_change_type being one of the top function in xen-syms. This function is only in the svm (AMD) code and should not appear on an Intel system. I see that this function is not being clled at all when I am running my apps as I have put printk in the functions and they do

Mapping hvm guest pages in Dom0
hello, I would like to map (Read/Write) pages owned by a HVM guest from my Dom0 Linux kernel module. I have access to the "machine frame numbers" of these pages. 1. What is the right interface to do this? kmap needs ''struct page'' ptrs which I doubt exist for pages owned by a HVM guest. Is there a hypercall to do this then? 2. Do I need to modify the HVM behavior in

setting up access for users
Folks I have a request to set up 2 types of access to the same Samba share. So far I've not had any luck getting this to work. The owner wants two groups to have different levels of access to the same share. One group needs read/write access, the other needs read only. Can someone tell me how to do this? This is not a publicly accessible or browseable share. The Samba servers is RHEL5

[XENOPROFILE] Xenoprof passive profiling broken under cs 13062
Renato, If one creates an HVM domain (say domain 1) and then does echo 1 > /dev/oprofile/passive_domains one then gets the following on the Xen serial console: (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0

UV fastpath after Crossbow
Hi the Crossbow team, I am testing my UV fastpath bits and I found several issues that need your suggestion: 1. dladm show-usage won''t work if UV fastpath is enabled. Since the link usage data are collected based on the statistics of the mac_client_impl_t, and UV fastpath skips the GLDv3 processing, that won''t be available. I don''t see a solution for this except

Xenoprof (0.9.5) in PVOPS
Hi All. I''m trying to use xenoprof in my Xeon machine with PVOPS (3.1.0 kernel) & xen 4.1.1. In the past, I had failed to use the xenoprof in this environment. (1 year ago) While baremetal booting shows the counter object in /dev/oprofile/0 (or 1,2,3) , booting with xen fails to create those objects. Of course, opcontrol command doesn''t work. It only prints

adding zeros to dataframe
Greetings, I am new to R and am hoping to get some tips from experienced R-programmers. I have a dataset that I've read into R as a dataframe. There are 5 columns: Plot location, species name, a species number code (unique to each species name), abundance, and treatment. There are 272 plots in each treatment, but only the plots in which the species was recorded have an abundance value. For

[PATCH 0/3] xenoprof fixes
These patches address issues in the kernel part of xenoprof: * Ill-advised use of on_each_cpu() can lead to sleep with interrupts disabled. * Race conditions in active_domains code. * Cleanup of active_domains code. Comments welcome. _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

[LLVMdev] Why llvm-gcc/g++ does not support the 64-bit SPARC ABI (-m64)
My application is 64bit running on Solaris 10 with Sparc. I'd like to use llvm-gcc/g++ to compile it to make it run faster. But in the Release Notes of the latest LLVM release, it says Known problems with the SPARC back-end * The SPARC backend only supports the 32-bit SPARC ABI (-m32); it does not support the 64-bit SPARC ABI (-m64). Why it doesn't support 64bit on sparc? Thanks!

[PATCH] Xenoprof passive domain support
Hi Renato, This patch is to add Xenoprof passive domain support in SMP environment. Basically: - It allocates per vcpu buffers for passive domain and maps them into primary domain''s space. - When primary domain gets sampled and triggers virq, its kernel module will handle passive domain'' samples besides its owns. There is potential buffer overflow if passive is very busy while

[PATCH] Enable Core 2 Duo Performance Counters in HVM guest
Hi, Keir, Currently, HVM guests do not have access to performance counters. So it is not possible to use performance analyzer software such as vtune in HVM guest to analyze programme performance. Other usage of performance counters , for example, the NMI watchdog, won''t function either. This patch will enable performance counters in HVM guest. Currently, only Core 2 Duo is implemented.
