CentOS 3.8 Kernel Update with NVIDIA Video Card
I need some advice. I updated the kernel but when I restarted my computer I got the following error message: -- I cannot start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly. ... Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module! -- I've started my computer using the old kernel. I found out that there's a new nvidia driver so I will also update it.

Switch to Nvidia from ATI
I am having some issues (e.g. System lock ups) with my ATI 9250 Video card. I am thinging about replacing it with either a Nvidia FX5200, FX5500, or a FX5600 card. Is anyone using one of these cards on Centos 4.1 with the stock (XORG) nv driver? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Intel VT-d Support
Hello all, please tell me, how can I be sure that my Xen installation is built with Intel VT-d support? Something like xm info | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION xm dmesg | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION What line I should look for? And if it''s really built with it, how can I be sure, that Xen has successfully initialized VT-d hardware? I have read [1] and the lists archives

xen over quemu OR quemu in Xen domU on a system with HVM-capable CPU
Hello all, I know that the question: Is it possible to run quemu inside Xen domU or run Xen domain 0 on quemu have discussed earlier in this mail list. As far as I remember this is possible except such a configuration where kquemu acceleration is in use. But what about HVM-capable systems? Please tell me are there the same restrictions for the hvm-capable systems? Thank you! -- WBR,

Hey everyone, I''ve searched through all of the previous posts and tried everything mentioned but I am still getting these messages. Is there anything else I can do? My host machine is running CentOS 5 w/ Xen 3.3.1. My Xen VM is also running CentOS 5. I''ve tried doing: # echo ''hwcap 0 nosegneg'' > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc6-xen.conf && ldconfig

Conditional dependency between packages
Hi, I have already asked a similar question twice without response on the r-help list https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2009-June/200300.html but this list might be more appropriate. If there is a particular reason for the lacking answers (unclear, missing information, the solution is obvious to everyone except me, etc), I would like to know. The description below is generalized, but I

import of Namespaces
Dear R devels, let's say I have three packages "pkg1", "pkg2" and "pkg3" which all contain new S4 classes and methods. Where "pkg3" depends on "pkg2" and "pkg2" depends on "pkg1". Moreover, all three packages have namespaces. 1) I use ".onLoad <- function(lib, pkg) require(methods)". Do I also have to

R CMD check dependency simplification
I am trying to re-organizing my Makefile for testing my R packages and I am having trouble finding a structure I like. The problem seems to be that "R CMD check", which does wonderful things, does not allow dependency information to flow through very gracefully. That is, since everything is copied into the pkg.Rcheck directory, it is difficult to make any changes to source files without

Loading FreeBSD in an HVM-domain on Intel-based host with GRUB
Hello all, please tell me, is it possible (at least theoretically) to circumvent bug 622 [1] by using GRUB instead of /boot/loader to load FreeBSD kernel? Or it is silly idea: even if we bypass /boot/loader we will not be able to run FreeBSD kernel in a HVM-domain on a Intel-based host for some other reason? As far as I know, GRUB can''t load FreeBSD kernel directly, but only can

How to link two R packages together
Hi, I have built two R packages. One of them (PKG1) needs to use the functions of the other package (PKG2). So I need to link these two packages together, so that the functions of PKG2 can be available to PKG1. And when I load one package using 'library("PKG1")', PKG2 can be loaded at the same. Any ideas welcome. -- View this message in context:

Xen and ACPI Sleep
Hi, I am currently testing Xen on my laptop and was wondering if there was any way to enable ACPI sleep so that I can resume sessions when I''m on the go. Is this possible? If so, could you please highlight how to achieve this? Thank you. -- Mathew Brown mathewbrown@fastmail.fm -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Access all of your messages and folders

warnings and errors with R CMD INSTALL
Hello, unfortunately I had to compile latest version of R-2.0.1 by myself. I'd rather would prefer vendors binaries but since the current version of Ubuntu defaults to 1.9.x I had to compile R on my own in order to be up to date! So far, everything went fine and R runs smoothly. Unfortunately I am not able to use R CMD INSTALL command to install add-on packages. I followed RNews 3/3 and

Depends vs Imports
I am being asked to modernize the Depends line in the DESCRIPTION file of some packages. Writing R Extensions says: The general rules are Packages whose namespace only is needed to load the package using library(pkgname) must be listed in the ?Imports? field and not in the ?Depends? field. Packages listed in imports or importFrom directives in the NAMESPACE file should

Xen PV drivers for FreeBSD
Hello, Does anybody know something about Xen PV drivers for FreeBSD? As far as I know there are no stable Xen PV-drivers for FreeBSD at the moment. But what about experimental drivers? Please, if you have any information about this, tell it. I think it would be interesting not only for me but for all who runs HVM domains FreeBSD. And the second question. I run FreeBSD in domUs

accessing "hidden" functions
Hi, (I tried looking for it, but I don't think it was discussed before... or maybe I didn't use the correct keywords). I have a package (say, pkg1), which uses NAMESPACE. This package contains a bunch of functions the are used internally, therefore they're not exported (say, internalFunc1). Even though internalFunc1 is not exported, I can access it externally using
