HVM ignoring vcpus parameter
Hi, I am using Xen 4 under Debian Squeeze. I want to use Windows 2008 x86 with HVM, but only one vcpu allocated when vm started. After increasing vcpus number (vcpus = ''4'') in cfg, at start ignored that parameter, xm list VCPUs show only 1. Why does not able to increase the vcpus? Any idea?:) p.s: if using pvm linux, then the vcpus parameter is ok, increased successfully when I

New DomU on older Dom0
Hi, I have a Xen server running OpenSuSE 10.2, with Xen version 3.0.3_11774. It''s happily hosting two DomU''s running the same OS / kernel. Now I tried to create a new DomU running a newer OS - OpenSuSE 11.1. It comes with Xen version 3.3.1_18494_03. Unfortunately for me, it doesn''t work - this is what I get: > xen1:/etc/xen/vm # xm create NEW > Using config file

Installing openSuSE 10.3 as PV-guest on a LVM-drive of a openSuSE 10.3 host
Hi, how can I install a openSuSE 10.3 PV-guest on a LVM-drive of a openSuSE 10.3 host with Xen 3.10? On 10.2 with Xen 3.0.3 the openSuSE-YaST-module for managing VMs could install the system also on block-devices, unfortunately this is not possible anymore with OSS 10.3 :-( What I have tried: - I created two LVM-partitions, one for "/" one for swap. - Installing an OSS 10.2 PV-guest

Why the data got from "top" and "xentop" are different?
Hi All, I''m a beginner in Xen. Recently I''ve configured one VM (vm03) hosted in my physical machine. I ran the "netperf" workload in the vm01, and used the "top" command in the vm03 to test the behavior of the running workload. Meanwhile, I also used the "xentop" command in domain0 to see the resource consumption in vm03. Interestingly, I found that

[PATCH][XENTOP][0/4] Display blktap statistics.
Hi. These patches add the output function for blktap statistics into xentop. Currently, xentop outputs only blkback statistics, and not blktap statistics. By these patches, xentop is made cover both blkback and blktap. In xen, back-end driver has two types; blkback and blktap. Blkback driver is old back-end driver. Blktap driver is new back-end driver and is recommended currently. Usage of both

Finding real cpuinfo and meminfo
I have to collect cpuinfo and meminfo from hundreds of machines in preparation of updating our inventory and Xen version. Since we pin cpu and ram for dom0, this mangles the info. Is there way to get the real information? I know that xm top will give me the true RAM, but I need a non-interactive method. Specifically, I need the following real, unobfuscated/hidden info: Total RAM Processor (from

[PATCH 1/4] p2v: Pass host CPU details to virt-v2v.
In the fake <domain type='physical'> libvirt XML that we create to describe the physical host, we did not accurately pass any information about the host CPU except the number of cores (<vcpu/>). This commit extracts detailed information about the vendor, model and topology of the host CPU and adds that to the libvirt XML for virt-v2v. Conveniently we can use libvirt

openSUSE in domU on a CentOS dom0
Hi there, I am new to Xen. Just began trying it out from day-before. I have a CentOS 4.4 install on my hda6 partition. And I have a openSUSE 10.2 install on my hda8 partition. For openSUSE 10.2, I chose the Xen options while installing, and so I have the xen kernels too installed. For CentOS 4.4, I downloaded the Xen 3.0.2 source and compiled from there. (I followed the instructions at this
