CentOS 5.1 on intel DQ35JO , Q35 chipsed based board
Hi,
i was trying to install CentOS 5.1 on new machine based on Intel Q35 desktop
board, witch 2 SATA disks (configured as RAID 1) , 8GB RAM and Intel Core2
QUADCORE.
The first problem was with install - it hangs before installer startup at
ACPI messages. So i installed it with ACPI=off switch.
The first problem is :

CentOS 6 and Intel vPro?
Needed to set up a cluster where horsepower and cost were paramount, so
I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out Intel's business
class "vPro AMT" remote administration technology, and compare it to
IPMI, which I've used for years on servers. From a feature standpoint,
it seems quite impressive, going to far as using standards-based VNC!
Unfortunately, set up is

Xen 3.2.1, Intel DQ35JO, VT-d not working with Windows 2003
I spent a few hours upgrading one of my Xen boxes so that I''d be able to
use VT-d. I bought a DQ35JO because it seemed like a sure thing.
I can successfully use pciback to hide and grab devices. Specifically I
am trying to pass some USB controllers to Windows. The DQ35JO/ICH9DO
appears to have two independent sets of USB UHCI/EHCI controllers:

Cannot assign device in Xen-unstable [VT-d]
Hello,
I FINALLY got Xen working with VT-d. I compiled Xen-unstable (3.3) from
Mercurial on CentOS 5.2, but compiled my own kernel-xen from the latest
CentOS SRPM. (Made sure pciback was built-in and not a module, as the stock
kernel-xen has it as a module.) I''m probably going to write a how-to soon,
so stay tuned!
I have a JMicron SATA/PATA PCI Express controller with a DQ35JO

RE: Xen-3.2.1 VT-d Support (NOT SURE WHETHER IT''S A BUG OR...)
Hello,
I''m also seeing this exact same problem. I''ve posted on xen-users, but did
not get an answer. Venkat seems to be experiencing the same problem as me. I
have the latest BIOS for my motherboard DQ35JO. (BIOS ver 933) I''m running a
Q6600 as well. It hangs at "Brought up 4 CPUs." I''ve tried all sorts of
combinations of Xen versions and kernels to

1333/8GB Intel motherboard for C5.1
Hi there, has anyone run into any Desktop/Workstation Intel brand motherboards that work with CentOS 5.1 (4.6/3.9 out of box compatibility is a very large plus) and work with the 1333MHZ cpus such as the 8400/9450 and accept 8GB of RAM? The closest we've found so far is the DG31PR which is alright but it has the limitation of 4GB of RAM and an unsupported Realtek NIC. The DQ35JO is also ok,

DQ35JO (Q35 chipset), Q6600, xen-unstable (~12/21), RMRR/DMAR error
Purchased DQ35JO on Vt-d/PCI passthrough wiki''s recommendations. Built
latest xen-unstable and am getting the following via ''xm dmesg'':

How to Export COM port to guest domain
Greetings,
Using Xen 3.1 and Fedora 7, is it possible to export the serial
interface such that I can access
external devices on COM1 or COM2?
I am uncertain if PCI pass-thru is needed or if there''s nothing to
configure for this to work in
a fully virtualized Linux guest.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Tony Johnson

Intel CPU Comparison
I would like to gain some idea of the XCP impact of these two CPU
versions:
Intel
Core i7-2600, 3.4 GHz
Core i7-2600K, 3.5 GHz
Both have VT-x
Differences
2600K does not include:
Embedded Opions Available
vPro Technology
Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O
Trusted Execution Technology
Is the difference critical?
Thanks,

Finally cracked the mystery of motherboards with Vt-d support
After contacting Asus, MSI and Gigabyte, this is what I got back.
Only motherboards with the QXX chipsets and certified with the Intel
VPro support the Vt-d virtualization technology.
I''m not sure about MSI though, because this is what I got from their
support: "Almost board could support. Please refer to our website,
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/."
The problem is that

Poll - Would you pay $30-$50 for high quality speech synthesis?
Many of you are familiar with how lousy Festival sounds.
AT&T has a product, NaturalVoices, that sounds much better. There are
male & female voice fonts for US/UK/Indian English, French, Spanish,
and German.
I am considering offering a linux-based text-to-speech engine based on
the NaturalVoices runtime. An asterisk module would also be provided,
making it easy to add natural sounding

help about how can R compute AIC?
Hello.
I need to know how can R compute AIC when I study a regression model?
For example, if I use these data:
growth tannin
1 12 0
2 10 1
3 8 2
4 11 3
5 6 4
6 7 5
7 2 6
8 3 7
9 3 8
and I do
model <- lm (growth ~ tannin)
AIC(model)
R responses:
38.75990
I know the following formula to compute AIC:

Intel VT-d Support
Hello all,
please tell me, how can I be sure that
my Xen installation is built with Intel VT-d support?
Something like
xm info | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
xm dmesg | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
What line I should look for?
And if it''s really built with it,
how can I be sure, that Xen has successfully
initialized VT-d hardware?
I have read [1] and the lists archives
