virtual gigabit
Is there anyway to get gigabit networking for a fully virtualized guest? I''ve tried searching for this one, but all I get are results about gigabit networking for the host / dom0, nothing for domU. Syntax for PCI Pass-Thru for multiple devices?
Hi All, This might be a stupid question, but I have two PCI devices that I want to pass-thru to a PV domU. I can pass one of them, but not both. I''m sure it''s a stupid syntax issue within my configuration file. When I do a "lspci" in the domU, (CentOS 5.1), only one of the devices shows up. UPS (Power) Monitoring on dom0...
Hi All, I have a USB-HID compatible UPS which is connected to my dom0 (CentOS 5.1) which is being monitored.  I have a bunch of domU''s of various OS''es, and was wondering if anyone has a solution to send the "state" of the UPS to the domU''s (read-only).  I''d like that in the event of a power-outage and the UPS''s batteries are low that before

Serial port on the domU
I configured a domU to access to the physical serial port of the dom0 (/dev/ttyS0) typing this in the domU configuration file: irq = [ 4 ] ioports = [ "3f8-3ff" ] The domU starts without any error, but the serial port isn''t recognised. The /dev/ttyS0 device exists on the domU, and I blacklisted the serial_core, the 8250 and 8250_pnp modules on the dom0. What is the problem?

domU device access : kernel problem
Hi all, I have a little question about a problem i''m experiencing with the new xen 2.0.7: I installed in on a debian box, dom0 starts with no problem, also the domains i copied over from my 2.0.6 box start rightaway BUT: i needed a custom kernel (i want to play with PCI device acces in domU) so i grabbed the 2.0.7 source and compiled the 2.6.11-domU kernel (with the standard config)

Ability to pass-through a PCI videocard & PCI USB card?
Hi All! Quick question as I''m wondering if this is possible. On a Intel-VT enabled machine (Intel Xeon X3220 on an Intel 3000 Series Chipset), if I have a PCI video-card and a PCI USB card, would it be possible to do a PCI pass-through on those two PCI devices to a guest domain?  I''m assuming the PCI USB card would be fairly easy, but my gut instinct on the PCI video-card is

VT-d not working
Hello there, I am using a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H (Intel H55-Chipset) together with a Core-i5-650. According to Gigabyte Support the Mainboard does support VT-d. Well, actually support says, that VT-d does work on Windows-7 in XP-Mode. They do not test and support Linux though. Did anybody here have success using VT-d on any H55-Board? Perhaps it is some misconfiguration on my side. I tried a

Supermicro X7DVL-E and Xeon L5320 installation problems
Tearing our hair out on this one. Trying to install CentOS 5 x86_64 on a Supermicro X7DVL-E with 2 Xeon L5320 quad core CPUs, 3Ware SATA RAID controller in a mirrored setup and 4 GB of memory. Installation crashes at random places while copying the files. We've run memtest86 for 24 hours without any errors, replaced the RAID controller, motherboard and disks, but still no luck.

CentOS 4.4 smp on Dual Quad Core Xeon
I'm booting the default kernel on a dual quad core Xeon machine. I only see four CPUs and I expect to see 8. Do I have to build a custom kernel? Is there a switch or configuration parameter I need to set? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Benchmarking Xen - Xeon vs Opteron. Will memory latency make a difference?
Has anyone done any performance profiling for Xen on different platforms? I''m wondering if the big (50%+) memory latency advantage the Opteron''s have over the Xeon''s makes a big difference in the context of a Xen host with multiple active guest domains. Particularly at the moment I''m considering the 2-way situation with the SunFire v20z vs the Intel SR1400JR2.

No cpu throttling for Xeon E5405?
Hi, we bought some machines with 2 x quad core Xeon E5405 processors and installed centos 5.3 on them. My problem is that I can't get the cpuspeed service to work. No driver seems to claim responsibility for the throttling and the fallback "modprobe acpi_cpufreq" in the cpuspeed init script just yields a "No such device" message. According to the acpi information the
