Windows Xen VM's have high guest CPU usage and poor performance
Hello all,
I have a PowerEdge 2950 that I am using to host Windows XP VM's under
CentOS. I am experiencing poor performance in the Xen VM's. Any time I
try to do something, the CPU usage (as reported by the Windows task
manager) hits 100% for a few and then drops back down. This is causing
the VM's to run sluggish and be quite annoying to use. Example.. I
click IE.. cpu hits

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi,
our setup is
Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA)
Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008)
The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to
log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles
are working.
However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2
server to users from the SAMBA

No cpu throttling for Xeon E5405?
Hi,
we bought some machines with 2 x quad core Xeon E5405 processors and
installed centos 5.3 on them. My problem is that I can't get the cpuspeed
service to work. No driver seems to claim responsibility for the throttling
and the fallback "modprobe acpi_cpufreq" in the cpuspeed init script just
yields a "No such device" message. According to the acpi information the

Windows 2k/XP and roaming profiles
Hi
I'm finding it takes ages to download a roaming profile from the server
when I log into Win2k or XP. A 4Mb profiles typically takes about 2
minutes (and 2 minutes to write back when I log out).
I did a test and copied the profile directory from the server to my PC.
Running under Win98 takes 1-2 minutes. Under 2K/XP it takes nearly 5
minutes. However, a single file of 4Mb only takes about

HPUX and Samba 3.023 question
I am sorry if this sounds dumb, but I am sort of a newbie with samba.
We have upgraded our active directory domain servers to 2008 and samba
3.07 will not bind to the directory anymore. I have been told that I
need to upgrade past 3.022 in order to make it work? First of all is
this true? Second, when I went to install it and run it there is an
error that it can not find libldap-2.2.so. I

ISOLINUX -- how many BIOSs don't support this?
Hi,
The reason I ask, is that we (the Debian GNU/Linux CD creation team) are
currently contamplating switching to using some form of multi-boot to
allow our users the oppotunity to select which kernel to install Debian
with.

Samba 4.1.17 Raise domain level to w2008 R2
Dear all,
My , samba-tool domain level show shows me it is W2003:
[root at s4master ~]# samba-tool domain level show
Domain and forest function level for domain 'DC=tplk,DC=loc'
Forest function level: (Windows) 2003
Domain function level: (Windows) 2003
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2
Can I raise without issues to W 2008 R2?
Or should I stay with 2003?
Greetings

License manager
Has anyone successfully incorporated a Win95 app that uses FlexLM
license manager on a Samba file system. I would be extremely interested
in talking with you as we are trying to install Parametric Technology's
ProEngineer on our Samba file server. We do have a copy of the
Unix version of the license manager, but I am not sure how I can get
the Win95 client to talk to it.
Any and all
