what did I do?
I''m following merb trunk. This morning I updated my gems, sync''d merb source and installed the merb gem from source. I don''t know if I did something wrong, or if a new gem messed things up, or if there was a merb change which broke something. Now I get this error: Request: REQUEST_URI: / (2007-11-05 20:27:04) Params: {"action"=>"index",

Mongrel breaking Merb?
Has anyone had troubles from Mongrel > 1.0.1? Just curious, because the last time I tried to run Merb it gave me some Mongrel error about the wrong number of arguments, or something like that. I can post the exact message tonight when I get home. -- Cheers, Kevin Williams http://kevwil.com/ http://www.almostserio.us/ http://kevwil.jaiku.com/

Uploading Large (100mb+) files
I have an Apache 2.2.3 (mod_proxy_balancer) frontend server that does not have mongrel installed. It does proxy requests to several other mongrel-only servers (each running 2 mongrel processes). Each mongrel node has the same rails code-base and it''s working perfectly. However, my question is when I add an upload file form... where is it going to physically put that file? I mean since

Help a newb with 0.3.1
Hi, first off thanks Ezra for Merb - it''s certainly interesting and I''m keen to have a play. However, I''m having difficulties in getting started. I''ve followed the docs for setting up mrblog and everything seems to be installed correctly, and merb appears to start fine: $ merb you must install the markaby gem to use .mab templates you must install the

fcgi?
Hi, I''ve been looking for a light weight alternative to rails for a few small projects, and just came across merb, which looks perfect. The only issue is that merb seems to be tied to mongrel, and I have to deploy to our internal infrastructure which uses FastCGI. How difficult would it be for me to modify merb to support a fcgi interface (actually a rack interface - rack is

Merb in production with God/Monit
Hey All, I just wanted to get other peoples take on problems when running merb in production? Just as Rails used to do, the mongrels tend to get heavy/unresponsive over time so need a good kicking by a watcher daemon like god or monit. However, I have had serious problems getting God to restart the process, as the "merb -k <port>" command doesnt appear to work reliably

Merb, Mongrel+Erb
Hey there folks- I''m happy to announce the first useable release of my new pocket- framework Merb. Merb is a mongrel handler with built in controller and view templating with erb. It has a nice routing system similar to rails but much simpler. It uses some of the code from the camping handler and the rails handler and then some of its own secret sauce to form imho a nice fast

Routes
hi all, I want to move some routing tasks out of the router and into the controller. The goal is to make Merb feel less like mod_rewrite and give the user more control at the controller. The new Router is simple: it takes the path_info (not the whole request) then outputs a controller class and some parameters from the path matching. The rest of the routing would be done at the controller level.

Transfer-encoding: gzip
Hello! What is the simplest way to make merb respond to the client sending Accept-Encoding: gzip? Just checking if it exists, otherwise I''ll implement it myself. Regards, Magnus

deployment survey
Hello Mongrels, Building on the last messages about Fastthread, can we get a detailed survey of the different ways people are deploying their applications? It will help with near-future Mongrel development. Please include the following things: * Framework, if any (Camping, Merb, Rails, Nitro, Ramaze, IOWA, Rack...) * Mongrel version * Mongrel handlers used (rails, dirhandler, camping,

Is there a thread safe ActiveRecord replacement?
I''m using merb as an application server backend for a client application, the goal is to be able to handle thousands of parallell sessions (not parallell requests). It will use sendfile to send files. The controller uses an singleton that saves sessions in a hash that is memory resident cross requests, but isn''t persistent otherwise. I''m using ActiveRecord since there

Mongrel as Win32 service for a camping app?
As subject line, basically... http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/win32.html describes how to install Service support for Mongrel on Win32. But it seems to be focussed on providing a way of running Rails apps. If it is possible at all, can you provide hints or refer to documentation that explains how to run apps that use other frameworks, like Camping, as Services please? Is it written up online,

merb/sequel mutex on or off? proxy_balancer or no?
Just a quick question to those of you using merb and sequel or datamapper. How do you setup your merb app? For example: merb -X off -c 5, then run mod_proxy_balancer or nginx to load balance between the 5 (or whatever #) of merb nodes? merb -X off -d, then simply use something like proxypass merb -c 5, keep the mutex lock and cluster it haproxy, swiftiply, evented mongrel...... What

Mongrel upload progress not showing progress on production server
Hi all, Tried out the mongrel upload progress plugin with Drb and it works great on my OSX development box, but when putting it into production (Ubuntu Dapper), uploads complete but the app isn''t returning any values for upload progress, and uploads are not showing up in the queue when running upload_client.rb. Before anyone asks, yes, I''m running both the mongrel instances and

dealing with multipart forms in a Mongrel::HttpHandler
Hi everyone, Is there an easy way to parse multipart form requests from within a Mongrel::HttpHandler subclass or do I need to break out RFC 2388 and a bunch of regexps? Thanks, Mark -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/mongrel-users/attachments/20061221/9e756aa8/attachment.html

MediaTemple Image upload
Hi All, I''m hosting with MediaTemple who are currently using 0.3.3 of mongrel on their GridServer. My rails app has an image upload facility whereby if you upload a large image (e.g. 5Mb) mongrel crashes. I''ve requested an upgrade to the latest version of mongrel but don''t believe that''s going to happen too soon. I''m not getting too much

ActiveRecord Sessions
I am considering using merb to process file uploads. For the most part I''m going to keep it lean and mean. I would however like to access my active_record_session from my Rails app. Is this built into merb yet? Or is it OK to just add require ''action_controller/session/ active_record_store'' to merb_init.rb and then create my own session object
