Xen Log messages
Hi,
I am a newbie to Xen. How can I see the Xen hypervisor boot messages? Is
there any command similar to dmesg to check the boot log of Xen?
Thanks,
Bhaskar

APIC error on CPU0: 60(60)
I have a lot of this errors in my Centos stock 4.3 version in an Intel
D945gnt motherboard with a Pentium D (dual core)
If I disable apic in the grub.conf (apic=off) will I get a performance
hit? Im running Asterisk on that machine.
40 is Received Illegal Vector
20 is Send Illegal Vector
60 means you're getting both errors at the same time.
Basically it means that the APIC bus messages are

Boot problem with Debian Squeeza and Xen
Hi all,
I just upgraded my Debian/Etch with Xen3.3 machine to Debian/Squeeze
Xen4.0 and now have problems with starting the Dom0 kernel. I always get
the error message: Kernel panic not syncing: the kernel parameter noapic
is incompatible with xen.
My grub.cfg is:
menuentry ''Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-686 and XEN
4.0-i386'' --cl$

Fast clock under VMWare
Hi everyone,
I have been struggling with having the clock of Linux VM's (including
CentOS 4.6 and 5.1) running very fast under VMWare, no matter what I
have tried.
My platform:
- AMD Turion X2 TL-60
- AMD 690 chipset with integrated Radeon x1250 (probably doesn't
concern in this case)
- Windows Vista Ultimate x64, all Windows Update patches loaded (no SP1 yet)
- 4GB RAM
- VMWare

Are you using EFI Handover Protocol?
It might explain the difference

unable to boot centos 5 on dell optiplex 320
Hello All.
I have a dell optiplex 320 that I can install centos5 on using pci=nomsi. That seems
to be the only way. After the install grub loads but thats about as far as it gets.
It looks like a BIOS bug to me, but I just don't know. I left it sit for a few minutes
and it just had the echoed boot params on the screen.
I've tried booting with noapic nolapic apm=off acpi=off and noprobe

[PATCH] efi: leaving long mode in kernel_jump routine
Actually your Syslinux config is less relevant than the kernel config
file. Indeed Syslinux infers the method to use from the kernel image itself.
I assume the .config is public. I will take a look as soon as I can

system gets suspended automatically!
Hello!
I am running CentOS-5 with latest kernel available by deault (2.6.23).
I installed it on a Dell XPS machine having Intel Quad processors (4
parallel cpus). I use it to run a computational program and I need to
keep the program running for 1-2 months continuously. I generally boot
it in runlevel-3 with network ON without X and use ssh from another
machine to connect and run the program

Editing the boot prompt
Hi there!!
I has been modified the syslinux.cfg file according to the rules to add
some boot parameters but since this modification, every time I that I
highlight the modified entry in the boot menu and hit the TAB button on my
keyboard, the entry's boot parameters is displayed twice and when I try to
"backspace" them out, the line again get displayed twice and so on.

Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems,
then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what
seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot
boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the
kernel normally, I get the error:
"MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC"

Slow clock on CentOS 4.4 in a VMware VM
I'm running a CentOS 4.4 VM on a Windows XP host with VMware Server,
and have the problem that my clock runs too slow (it happens in
VMware Workstation as well). It loses between 30 and 45 seconds
every minute! This is a known problem and can be fixed by adding
"nosmp noapic nolapic" to the boot command according to VMware tech
note ID 1420. However, despite adding these

Wine suspending itself? (WoW on laptop with i945GM graphics)
I'm experiencing some real weirdness trying to get WoW to work in Wine on this laptop I have. It works pretty well (if a bit slow, but I'm willing to attribute that to the Intel graphics hardware) except that, at unpredictable intervals, the Wine process will suddenly freeze -- graphics stop updating and sound goes into a loop.
The thing is that, if I run it from a terminal window, I can

"Xenoppix-x86-64(Xen3.0.2+KNOPPIX-x86_64-5.0.1) CD size" is released.
Dear,
"Xenoppix-x86-64(Xen3.0.2+KNOPPIX-x86_64-5.0.1) CD size" is released.
http://unit.aist.go.jp/itri/knoppix/xen/index-en.html
Xenoppix-x86-64 exploits latest CPU (Intel Core2 Duo and AMD Athlon64).
* Xenoppix-x86-64 boots both X86 and X86_64 linux kernel on HVM of Xen.
* Xenoppix-x86-64 looks like KNOPPIX but all packages are replaced for X86_64.

segfaults with 8 gig of ram
Hello All.
I have five Centos 4.4 x86_64 (amd fx-62) boxes with
4 gig of Corsair dual channel ram running
kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL (smp).
The sixth box is the same except for video card and ram.
It is using 8gig of GSkill dual channel ram and has
a very cheap ATI video card in it. This box will segfault
on boot unless I use noapic acpi=off and nolapic. Even
with these boot params, the box is not

how to correctly turn off apic at boot
I have tried in the grub.conf file
noapic
and
apic=off
I am still getting the same error message about ACPI
in the dmesg output.
example:
ACPI: PCI interupt .... IRQ 16
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 ... IRQ16
eth0: identified 8139 chip type
so ACPI is grabbing IRQ 16 and not letting eth0 have it. (I Think).
How do I correctly disable it on my compaq v2000 laptop.
I think it is not allowing my usb

newbie question about a dbuf-arc eviction race
Hi,
Can a dbuf be in DB_CACHED state, db_holds == 0,
b_efunc != NULL while its db_buf is put on the
eviction list ? From an ASSERT in dbuf_do_evict(),
it appears that it can. If it can, I am wondering what
is preventing the following race
dbuf_hold_impl()
db = dbuf_find(dn, level, blkid);
...
if (db->db_buf && refcount_is_zero(&db->db_holds)) {

Request for help - adding text files to a data frame
Hello Everyone,
I have a data frame which looks something like this:
V1 <-c(1,2,3)
V2 <-c(5,6,7)
V3 <-c(9,10,11)
df <- data.frame(V1,V2,V3)
I want to add couple of text files at the beginning of df and save
the df as a csv file.
The csv file should look something like this:
