[Q]Are Intel''s ICH9 chipsets supported by xen-3.2?
Hi All, I found it very difficult to get Xen-3.1 up on a a machine with Intel''s ICH9 family of disk controllers :-(. Is the ICH9 support really there in xen-3.2 ? I tried but was not successful in booting even xen-3.2 from xen.org. Did anyone have a success? Or any help on what extra config options I need to pass while compiling a domain0 from xen sources? Thanks, -- Pradeep Singh

Grant Tables between dom0 and domU?
Hi All, The interface manual says - grant tables provide a generic mechanism sharing between domains. Subsequent lines suggest mechanism sharing between only unpriviliged domains. Can grant tables be used for this capability based shared memory communication between dom0 and domUs? Thanks ~psr -- pradeep singh rautela "proud to be a TUXedo, BSDemons you are a little late" - me

Xen and tc problems
Hi, I am trying to shape traffic to two VMs hosted in Xen. There seems to be very little information regarding this. I found this web page http://www.ioncannon.net/system-administration/57/limiting-bandwidth-usa ge-on-xen-linux-setup/ and followed the instructions. But, the real bandwidth experienced from clients always seems to exceed the set rate. Part of the problem may be because of the way

RFI: recommendation for temperature monitoring
Good morning gurus, I would like to get recommendation for monitoring temperature for cpu using Asus P5WD2 motherboard and Intel D 820. I my installation has CPU cooling system changed from Intel bulk to Zalman CNPS9500 and it works. Normal Intel cooling system is not enough and is overheating cpu quite badly. Unfortunately Zalman has to be controlled (rpms) manually and thus I would like to see

RFI: Information for Centos 4 unsupported kernels
Hi, this may sound stupid, but; - I'd like to install unsupported x86/i386 smp kernel because I need some support (for eg. dual booting for r/w files for winXP) etc. I'm now using 4.3 latest smp kernel. (I've tested that x86 still runs better than x86_64 like I was told in January. Thanks for the advice.) Questions: Is there any documentation for how to install unsupported smp

FC5 -- Xen 3.0.2 -- iptables with dom0 and domU
Situation: Running a simple UDP client/server program where the client on one domU on one computer sends echo packets to another domU on another computer, server sends echoes back. They do this on a specified port (will use any port between 5000-6000). This program works on non-Xen machines in various environments, Linux and Solaris. Program just hangs on the domUs. I believe I need help with

Hello, I am trying to boot a FC6 domU on Xen 3.2 (compiled on a FC6 system). After compiling Xen 3.2 successfully on FC6 and making the ramdisk, I modified the conf.grub as shown below. Network issue with vif-route method
Hello folks, I used to work with bridging for my xen networks, but my very last hosting provider doesn''t support multiple mac address on the switch port. So I''m trying to configure some virtual servers on xen 3.2.1 using the network-route and vif-route method instead of bridge. Everything works well, on the virtual server except the network. In the VM definition file, I have :

[Xense-devel] [RFC][PATCH][ACM] enforcing ACM policy on network traffic between virtual network interfaces
This patch adds an ACM hook into the network scripts (/etc/xen/scripts). It adds iptables rules that enforce mandatory access control on network packets exchanged between virtual interfaces. If ACM is active, this patch sets the default FORWARD policy in Dom0 to DROP and adds iptables ACCEPT rules between vifs that belong to domains that are permitted to share (determined by using the

Samba domain join issues
Still looking for some suggestions, recommendations or pointers on this issue. Kinda stuck with it. It was working well couple of months back and suddenly stopped working. No known changes were happned on both sides except installing and then uninstalling MS16-077 patch. Infinite loop shutting down xendomains
Pardon me for a long detailed post but this looks pretty serious. The bottom line is that, when I attempt to shut down or reboot my simple xen-2.0.7 server running FC3 with two domUs, shutting down xendomains appears to send python into an infinite loop. This may be due to a serious misconfiguration on my part but it is certainly a big problem. If we shutdown the domUs manually first, the

Mapping hvm guest pages in Dom0
hello, I would like to map (Read/Write) pages owned by a HVM guest from my Dom0 Linux kernel module. I have access to the "machine frame numbers" of these pages. 1. What is the right interface to do this? kmap needs ''struct page'' ptrs which I doubt exist for pages owned by a HVM guest. Is there a hypercall to do this then? 2. Do I need to modify the HVM behavior in

xen2.0 stable periodic machine freeze
Hello, I have a Dell PowerEdge 2850 that periodically (6 times in the last 24 hours) freezes, requiring a power cycle in order to come back. The machine is running a Xen 2.0 stable source install. Here is the appropriate Grub entry: title Xen 2.0 / XenLinux 2.6 kernel /boot/xen-2.0.gz dom0_mem=131072 module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6-xen0 root=/dev/sda1 ro console=tty0 Dom0 boots happily, and new
