Is it possible that xenoprof active domain profiling using pvops jeremy''s kernel
my system configuration xen 3.4.2, oprofile 0.9.5( xenoprof patched ), dom0( jeremy''s pvops kernel 2.6.31.6 - patched dullor''s xenoprof patch ), domU( vanilla kernel 2.6.32 with paravirt enabled ), distribution( ubuntu 9.10 ) In passive mode, xenoprof seems to work well, opreport showed good information. but, in active mode, it seems not to be done correctly. my command is

Is oprofile still working?
Hi all, Is anyone using oprofile? I'm getting segfaults from opreport at the moment, and I'm not sure if it is opreport, or just me. In case it is something just plain daft I am doing, here is how it goes: opcontrol --reset opcontrol --setup --no-vmlinux opcontrol --start ... now I run my program, /tmp/myprog ... opcontrol --dump opcontrol --shutdown then I run, opreport -l

FW: oprofile 0.9.3 xen symbols incorrect
Hi I am using oprofile 0.9.3 on xen cs 16540 on an Intel system. When I look at the top "hot" functions, I see p2m_change_type being one of the top function in xen-syms. This function is only in the svm (AMD) code and should not appear on an Intel system. I see that this function is not being clled at all when I am running my apps as I have put printk in the functions and they do

But how can I get the modules'' profile in kernel? Now I use command: Opcontrol --no-vmlinux --separate=kernel,cpu --start-daemon ...run benchmark Opcontrol --sutdown Opreport >list The report shows: CPU:

is oprofile working on CENTOS 6.0 ?
Hi I am trying to use oprofile with centos 6.0. I know that the debug-info for the kernel is not available, so I believe I used the correct switches to account for this. here is my script... # reset everything opcontrol --shutdown rm /root/.oprofile/da* opcontrol --separate=kernel --no-vmlinux opcontrol --event=CPU_CLK_UNHALTED:100000 opcontrol --start sleep 5

Xenoprof in an HVM domain
I''m looking into getting Xenoprof to tun in an HVM domain, since we will eventually need a profiler for HVM domains to track down areas of poor performance. (HVMs have poor performance? :) ) Being relatively new to OProfile, Xenoprof, and Xen internals, I would appreciate any pointers, tips, and comments on how to work the implementation. I see three basic areas of work. 1. Implement

xenoprof patch for oprofile-0.9.7
I am rebasing Fedora rawhide oprofile package to oprofile-0.9.7. The xenoprof patches on http://xenoprof.sourceforge.net/#download look a bit dated. The newest version is for oprofile-0.9.5. I massaged the patch oprofile-0.9.5-xen.patch to apply to oprofile-.0.9.7. Attached is that updated patch. Does this look reasonable? Is there a desire to get this into upstream oprofile? Or should the

[HVM][XENOPROFILE][RFC][0/3] xenoprofile HVM patches
Keir, The following 3 patches allow HVM (SVM and VT) guests to be passively profiled using the very latest patches from Renato. These patches apply to 11470. Renato''s patches: http://xenoprof/sourceforge.net oprofile-0.9.1-xen-r2.patch And also a patch not posted FAIK (oprofile-0.9.1-fix-hvm-addr-overlap.patch) which is in the attached tar.bz2 file. hvm_xenoprofile_1.patch - The first

[LLVMdev] oprofile support?
I've been trying to get oprofile results for jitted code without success. I built an 3.5.0 llvm with oprofile enabled, and tested it with lli on a small test case. I built the latest oprofile from the git repository. Debugging I can see that lli is registering the listener and making the oprofile calls to the libopagent api to specify the names and address ranges of jit'd routines, and

[XENOPROFILE] Xenoprof passive profiling broken under cs 13062
Renato, If one creates an HVM domain (say domain 1) and then does echo 1 > /dev/oprofile/passive_domains one then gets the following on the Xen serial console: (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0 xenoprof/x86 with autotranslated mode enabledisn''t supported yet (XEN) xenoprof.c:143:d0

Xenoprof (0.9.5) in PVOPS
Hi All. I''m trying to use xenoprof in my Xeon machine with PVOPS (3.1.0 kernel) & xen 4.1.1. In the past, I had failed to use the xenoprof in this environment. (1 year ago) While baremetal booting shows the counter object in /dev/oprofile/0 (or 1,2,3) , booting with xen fails to create those objects. Of course, opcontrol command doesn''t work. It only prints

[LLVMdev] oprofile support?
Mi Maurice, A follow up to Andy's comments: MCJIT can find line numbers for ELF files, at least in limited circumstances. I know because I broke the regression test for it while doing some cleanup recently. ;) Looking at lib/ExecutionEngine/OProfileJIT/OProfileJITEventListener.cpp, I see the line: // TODO: support line number info (similar to IntelJITEventListener.cpp) >From a glance at

xenoprof passive profiling and "mode" setting
Xiaowei, I''m puzzled by the following bit of code in p4_check_ctrs():        if (guest_kernel_mode(current, regs))                 mode = 1;         else if (ring_0(regs))                 mode = 2; If I look at the definition for guest_kernel_mode() it is: include/asm-x86/x86_64/regs.h: #define guest_kernel_mode(v, r)   \     (ring_3(r) && ((v)->arch.flags &

Xen and Oprofile
Hello Xenoprof Users, Can someone please verify the steps to get a oprofile session profile multiple sessions? I am using a file VBD for spawning two guest OS domains on the host. I am doing the following: 1.) On dom0 Opcontrol --xen=/boot/xen-syms-blah 2.) On domU domID: 41 Opcontrol --vmlinux=/boot/vmlinux-2..blah 3.) On domU domID: 42 Opcontrol

Xenoprof error and missing Xen-syms events
Hello everyone, I''m trying to run Xenoprof (Oprofile 0.9.4) in Gentoo Linux 2.6.21-xen (64 bit) on an AMD 64 system and am facing the following two issues: 1. Xenoprof complains about a write error, but starts and runs anyway. dom0 # opcontrol --start-daemon --active-domains=0 --event=CPU_CLK_UNHALTED:75000::1:1 --vmlinux=/usr/src/linux-2.6.21-xen-dom0/vmlinux
