libvirt and shared storage SAN Fiber Channel
Hi, I'm looking information about using libvirt with san (fiber channel) based storage and googling for a while i don't see anything about it. I send this email in order to get advices about libvirt and shared storage We use here, for 3 years now, 8 linux centos server connected to an hitachi FC SAN (multipath devices). Each server run Xen dom0 and use SAN LUNs to store Virtual machine

xServes are dead ;-( / SAN Question
Hi ! As some of you might know, Apple has discontinued it's xServes server as of january 31st 2011. We have a server rack with 12 xserves ranging from dual G5's to dual quand-core xeon lastest generation, 3 xserve-raid and one activeraid 16 TB disk enclosure. We also use xSan to access a shared file system among the servers. Services are run from this shared filesystem, spreaded

XEN HA Cluster with LVM fencing and live migration ? The right way ?
Hi, I am trying to build a rock solid XEN High availability cluster. The platform is SLES 11 SP1 running on 2 HP DL585 both connected through HBA fiber channel to the SAN (HP EVA). XEN is running smoothly and I''m even amazed with the live migration performances (this is the first time I have the chance to try it in such a nice environment). XEN apart the SLES heartbeat cluster is

striping with ZFS and SAN(AMS500 HDS)
I have Storage-SAN of HDS(AMS500), and I want to do striping on luns from the storage. I don''t want any raid-5(because I have one on the disks in the HDS storage). I only want to do strip on 2 luns(25GB each) that cames from different controllers and deffrent fiber channel port(dual HBA). I test the preformance by writing 512MB in to the zfs, with 2 luns striped(each lun from diffrent

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys! I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with 32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM. My question is: * How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different virtualization servers simultaneously? I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer, 2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

KVM virtual machine and SAN storage with FC
Hi Team, Is there any body got any experience on setting up a virtualized environment in which the vm's can access a fiber channel SAN storage connected to host? the host access the SAN through its own HBA, but the hba is not recognized inside the virtual machines. Please let me know the step to go through this. Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

large ext3 filesystem consistantly locking itself read-only
We have several large ext3 file system partitions. One of them sets itself to read-only after getting journel problems. I understand that's a good thing, but obviously I need to correct the problem so that it will stop locking itself. Here are some details; OS is Redhat EL4 x86_64 running on a SunFire v40z, kernel is 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp. The disk storage in question is external, via

Mounting LUNs from a SAN array - LUN mappings to devices in /dev/ - are they static?
Hi All :) I am currently involved in a project in which there is a SAN array (Sun Storagetek 2540) which exports LUNs for some servers with Centos 5.2 x86. I will be performing a migration to Centos 5.9 x86_64 in some time and am gathering needed info now :) I am trying to find the place in the OS where there is the information about LUN mappings to /dev/ devices. For example on array level I

Re: Oracle RAC in libvirt+KVM environment
Thanks. I have read the link you provide, there is another link which tells me to pass a NPIV discovery lun as a disk, this is seen as a local direct access disk in windows. RAC and Failure Cluster both consider this pass through disk as local disk, not a share disk, and the setup process failed. Hyper-v provides a virtual Fiber Channel implementation, so I wondering if kvm has the same solution

Cluster Quorum Question/Problem
Greetings all, I am in need of professional insight. I have a 2 node cluster running CentOS, mysql, apache, etc. I have on each system a fiber HBA connected to a fiber SAN. Each system shows the devices sdb and sdc for each of the connections on the HBA. I have sdc1 mounted on both machines as /quorum. When I right to the /quorum from one of the nodes, the file doesn't show up on the

Re: Oracle RAC in libvirt+KVM environment
Hi all, I found a article about Hyper-V virtual Fiber Channel, I think this will make Failover Cluster work if KVM has the same feature. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831413.aspx Hyper-V uses NPIV for virtual Fiber Channel, I have read some article about KVM NPIV, but how can I config it with libvirt? Any body can show me some example? On Wed, Aug 14, 2013 at 2:33 PM, Timon Wang

Proxy IMAP/POP/ManageSieve/SMTP in a large cluster enviroment
Hi to all in the list, we are trying to do some tests lab for a large scale mail system having this requirements: - Scale to maybe 1million users(Only for testing). - Server side filters. - User quotas. - High concurrency. - High performance and High Availability. We plan to test this using RHEL5 and maybe RHEL6. As a storage we are going to use an HP EVA 8400 FC(8 GB/s) We defined this

cachefile for snail zpool import mystery?
Hi, We are seeing more long delays in zpool import, say, 4~5 or even 25~30 minutes, especially when backup jobs are going on in the FC SAN the LUNs resides (no iSCSI LUNs yet). On the same node for the LUNs of the same array, some pools takes a few seconds, but minutes for some. the pattern seems random to me so far. It''s first noticed soon after being upgraded to Solaris 10 U6

Gluster on Clustered Storage
Hi ..., How does one deploy Gluster on a clustered storage i.e. two server nodes with a common storage array? Say one has, two server nodes connected to a common storage array, that exports 2 LUNs visible to both nodes. [ Server 1 ]------[ Storage ]------[ Server 2 ] Each server node mount a single LUN, but in case one of the node fails, the other node takes over the LUN. [ Server 1

ZFS SMI vs EFI performance using filebench
I have been testing the performance of zfs vs. ufs using filebench. The setup is a v240, 4GB RAM, 2 at 1503MHz, 1 320GB _SAN_ attached LUN, and using a ZFS mirrored root disk. Our SAN is a top notch NVRAM based SAN. There are lots of discussions using ZFS with SAN based storage.. and it seems ZFS is designed to perform best with dumb disk (JBODs). The test I ran support this observation.. and

I tried this just now & assigning the Clariion snapshot of the pool LUN to the same host. Although the snapshot LUN

XCP and FC based Sans
I sincerely apologize if this has been covered before on the forums. I tried searching my mailbox of over 37K messages from this group, but my search functionality is broken at present. I''m trying to understand if XCP has any limitations with regards to storage networks based on Fiber Channel. Specifically, do I need a cluster technology with XCP to enable shared LVM access across nodes
