Xen 3.1 / Xen 3.2 + DRBD 8.2.4
Hi all !
Is anyone using xen kernel + drbd 8.2.4 ?
I don''t know exactly if my problems come from the addition of the two
packages, or from drbd 8.2.4, but I encoutered kernel panic 2 times when
trying to do first sync of drbd resources :s
Cheers,

Multi CDRom Volume
Hi,
I''m using Xen since few months and have a lot of fun with it in a
production environnement.
I''ve a question about how to change the CDROM (iso file) attachement to
a guest ?
My configuration is :
Hypervisor running debian etch, no X env, Full VT support.
When I want to install a new machine from iso CD, if more than one CD,
I''m not able to switch to next CD.

DRBD 8.0.6 introduces "native" live-migration ability
Thought this would be interesting for some people:
Version 8.0.6 of DRBD comes with a nice script that adds support for a
config like
disk = [ ''drbd:r0,hda1,w'' ]
This supports migration and live migration without having to take care
of drbd yourself. Really nice feature.
Read changelog on 8.0.6 on:

live migration with DRBD devices
Hi all,
I want to do live migration of domains using DRBD block devices for
synchronisation between the two Xen hosts with Xen 2.0.7.
I''ve written a script ( block-drbd ) which binds / unbinds DRBD devices for
specific domains (with DRBD, only one host can write on a drbd device at the
same time). This script sets the current host as master (bind) or secondary
(unbind) in a DRBD

DRBD, Xen, HVM and live migration
Hi,
I want to combine all the above mentioned technologies.
The Linbit pages warn not to use the drbd: VBD with HVM DomUs.
This page however:
http://publications.jbfavre.org/virtualisation/cluster-xen-corosync-pacemaker-drbd-ocfs2.en
(thank you Jean), simply puts two DRBD devices in dual primary mode and
starts Xen DomUs while pointing to the DRBD devices with phy: in the
DomU config files.

Live migration under drbd
Hello all,
When I live migrate my centos guest from node1 to node2, I can ping the
guest, but on node 2 if i do: xm console guest01 , I am not able to access
it. When migrating back to node1 , I can access the console.
What I noticed is, to access the console, the node ''s drbd resource/disk
needs to be in primary status .
Is it typical or only I am having this problem.
Is there any

Xen SAN Questions
Hello Everyone,
I recently had a question that got no responses about GFS+DRBD clusters for Xen VM storage, but after some consideration (and a lot of Googling) I have a couple of new questions.
Basically what we have here are two servers that will each have a RAID-5 array filled up with 5 x 320GB SATA drives, I want to have these as useable file systems on both servers (as they will both be

Live migration and DRBD
Hi folks
I deploy a two Dell PowerEdge T300 to test Virtualization with
kvm+drbd+heartbaet.
The KVM drbd and heartbeat work properly.
However, I have doubt!!
When the primary node has down, the secondary node start the VM that
has original running on primary node...
So, this required a full stop of hole system...
This is not we wish here...
Is there something way to live migrate VM from

HA Xen cluster live migration
Hello,
We have successfully implemented a 2-node HA Xen cluster with DRBD, LVM
and heartbeat, that can do live migration.
I wrote up some details here:

I''d like to say thank you to all the people writing these great software.

Xen LVM DRBD live migration
Hi guys I have few problems with live migration ... and I need some
professional help :)
I have 2 xen servers ... CentOS 5.3 and I want to have a high available

Now let`s begin ....

pygrub and live migration
Is there a way to do live migration with domU started on pygrub?
I''m actually running xen 4.1 (debian squeeze) on two nodes with a
drbd+lvm+corosync architecture.
Live migration was fine till I put my DomU''s on pygrub.
Has somebody experimented the same?

drbd 8 primary/primary and xen migration on RHEL 5
Greetings.
I''ve reviewed the list archives, particularly the posts from Zakk, on
this subject, and found results similar to his. drbd provides a
block-drbd script, but with full virtualization, at least on RHEL 5,
this does not work; by the time the block script is run, the qemu-dm has
already been started.
Instead I''ve been simply musing the possibility of keeping the drbd

Best way to duplicate a live Centos 5 server?
I've got a CentOS 5 server that I want to migrate over into a
virtualized instance.
The problem is I need to minimize downtime so was trying to figure out
a way to "live" clone the original.
Initially, I thought I could do this via exporting an iSCSI target
from the virtual host, create a MD raid 1 array on the C5 server, wait
for it to sync, then shutdown the physical server and

xen+drbd Question
Hi list,
I installed two new servers to be our virtualization HA. This servers
have CentOS 5.2, Xen 3.0.3, Drbd 8.2.6. The setup is ok, lvm drbd
resources sincronizing, Guest VM running without any problem.
My only doubt is that I can only use drbd resources inside guest vms
when I specify the disk resource in vms config like this:
disk = ['phy:/dev/VolGroup00/vappprtem01,hda,w' ]

Using XL toolstack (Xen) with DRBD
Hello,
Currently it seems that the drbd disk type with Xen''s XL toolstack (vs XM)
to get the automatic promotion/demotion behavior of drbd devices is not
supported. Is there something I can tweak with the block-drbd script to get
this to work?
Thanks,
Chris

iSCSI and LVM
Hi Everyone,
I am going to get a storage server which will be connected to my Xen hosts via iSCSI/Ethernet. I wish to use LVM for the DomU disks. The storage server will have a RAID10 array, and 2 Xen hosts will connect to this (Each will have a 50% share of the RAID10 array, space wise).
What is the best way to go about this? Should I:
a) Split the RAID10 array into 2 partition on the

Clustering solutions - mail, www, storage.
Hi all.
I am currently working for a hosting provider in a 100+ linux hosts'
environment. We have www, mail HA solutions, as storage we mainly use
NFS at the moment. We are also using DRBD, Heartbeat, Corosync.
I am now gathering info to make a cluster with:
- two virtualization nodes (active master and passive slave);
- two storage nodes (for vm files) used by mentioned virtualization
nodes
