SNV82: Not enough memory is available, and dom0 cannot be shrunk any further
Hi All,
I am running nevada 79 BFU''ed to 82. The machine is a Ultra 20 with 4GB
memory. I have several Windows XP domU''s configured and registered.
When ever I try to start the fourth domain I get an out of memory exception:
Not enough memory is available, and dom0 cannot be shrunk any further
Each of my domains only uses 256 so I thought there would be sufficient

HVM on Dell Optiplex 755
Hi,
I want to run a HVM domU.
I have a Dell Optiplex 755:
model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
I have enabled VT in BIOS settings under performance.
However, after I boot into a linux kernel (not under Xen),
grep vmx /proc/cpuinfo returns nothing.
When I boot under Xen, I get

XenStore communication
Hi,
I want to know how everything communicates with XenStore.
Do domUs use the front-end/back-end driver to dom0 and then the back-end
driver contacts xenstored?
In particular, how do the xenstore-* commands work on a dom0 and domU?
And when should unix-domain sockets be used to communicate with xenstored?
Thanks,
Hayawardh

xend communication with xenstored
Hi all,
xend communicates with xenstored using unix domain sockets right? So, would
it be possible to convert the unix domain sockets to tcp/ip sockets and let
xenstored run on a different machine?

Hayawardh

XP is very slow to access Samba
I have a linux sever running it is version 2.6.20-2936.fc7xen. The
samba version is Version 3.0.27-0.fc7. My problem is XP and Windows 2k
Machines connect very slow to the mapped drives. It does not matter if
they are connected as the IP (\\192.168.100.32\*) or a mapped drive in
the Windows Host file (Sambasales\*). Has anyone else had these
problems, and if so what did you do to fix

CentOS 5 and ndiswrapper
This is an abbreviated version of an e-mail that I also posted to the
ndiswrapper mailing list. Compressing the long story, I ran into the
same problem using CentOS 5 as I had with Fedora Core 6 and ndiswrapper:
my laptop (HP Pavilion zv6000 series with a Broadcom BCM43xx wireless
NIC) would lock up or spontaneously reboot after a few hours if I
brought up the wireless interface. I also

Repetitive Kernel oops (and two smaller questions)
I have an F7 host that''s running the 2.6.20-2925.11.fc7xen 64-bit
kernel on a Dell 2950 using the latest 64-bit Xen packages in F7,
3.1.0-2.f7. I''m trying to install RHEL 5 386 as a guest which I hear
is possible. 64-bit RHEL5 isn''t available to use anyway. When I try
to paravirtualize the install and only utilize 1 CPU, I always get a
kernel oops right before the

Problem with menu.c32
I'm trying to use menu.c32 to boot different kickstart files.
The problem I have is regardless of what menu item I select, it always uses
the client.cfg (default entry) even if I select one of the others.
Any ideas.
Thanke,

Nomogram (rms) for model with shrunk coefficients
Dear R-users,
I have used the nomogram function from the rms package for a logistic
regresison model made with lrm(). Everything works perfectly (r version
2.15.1 on a mac). My question is this: if my final model is not the one
created by lrm, but I internally validated the model and 'shrunk' the
regression coefficients and computed a new intercept, how can I build a
nomogram using that

can't "yum install mplayer" : no libmpcdec.so.3 available
Just upgraded to 5.4 yesterday morning. (Kudos to those who did that!)
That's probably irrelevant to this problem:
"yum install mplayer" fails. Here's what happens:

Fedora Core 6 (FC6) and Asterisk-1.2.13 and Zaptel-1.2.10 compile problems
All,
I have upgraded by home machine from Fedora Core 5 (FC5) to the recent FC6 and am struggling to build Zaptel-1.2.10 and Asterisk-1.2.13 on the box... which is an Intep P4 2.8GHz HT processor box with 845 chipset, hence the kernel installed is 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6-i686 so we hve this:

zlib+shlib issue with the official EL4 R binary
Hi,
I have got a curious issue with an R package which uses zlib, against
the official binary here:
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/redhat/el4/i386/R-2.4.1-1.rh4AS.i386.rpm
on a Redhat EL4 i686 system.
The problem is that at the end of reading a gzip'ed file within my
C code, gzgetc() returns -1 (no more to read or error) but
gzeof() doesn't return true. Now one can probably jump to

PXE, Intel, and FC4 problems
Greetings!
I am currently building a PXE distro server for a company that I'm
contracting for, but I'm having some problems. Here's the scoop:
Some of the clients I want to install on are Angstrom blades with Intel
e1000 NICs. Using the pxelinux.0 file on the FC6 distro, I can install
FC6 just fine. However, FC4 bombs. The system pulls it's DHCP address
just fine, and then

winxp samba problem
Greetings,
I have a newly loaded WinXP/SP2 laptop connecting to a FC6 samba share. The
first 2-3 accesses to the share work fine but then it goes south.
The access times are extremely long. I did a tcpdump on the FC6 box and see
constant samba traffic between the laptop
and the server when there is no actively on the laptop. I have a different
laptop running WinXP which doesn't behave
