Unable to create more than 1 VM
Hi, I have already set up a VM that can access the network using the NAT mode. The problem I have is that I''d like to create another VM that also has access to the network. The problem I get is that when a VM is started, the other one will refuse to start. Actually it starts, but when I want to "xm console" into it I get the following error message: "xenconsole: Could not

Unable to xm console in a running domU
Hi list, I am running a virtualized server. Dom0 uses Xen 3.2.1 with Debian Etch and a custom kernel 2.6.21 created by my webhosting company. I install my domU using debootstrap for a Debian Etch with 2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 kernel. Everything works well except the fact that once the VM is started I cannot "xm console" into it. It only works while it is booting and while it is shutting

Serial console
I am trying to get a CentOS 6.3 serial console to work with IPMI SOL. I think I have everything working but maybe the wrong baud rate on the getty: $ ipmitool -I lanplus -U root -H 10.0.0.14 sol activate Password: [SOL Session operational. Use ~? for help] ?????????? 10.0.0.14 is the DRAC IP address of the CentOS 6.3 box. It accepts the password and connects me to the console but then when I

xen remote console and multiple admins
Hello, I''m enjoying my Xen quest very much thus far. Q: How does one handle the situation of multiple root users on dom0 trying to `xm console'' to the same guest? I was unable to use the virtual console at all until I added a line to inittab for agetty to spawn on xvc0. Now I''m not sure of an elegant solution for supporting multiple consoles (possible?), or even

xm console -- what should I get?
If I type "xm console 6", say (when I have a virtual machine 6 running), what should I get? The documentation seems to indicate that I should get something that behaves like a telnet to a serial console. What I actually get is a connection that might show me a couple of lines of output that do look like they belonged on the console, but doesn't seem to accept any input (except that

[LLVMdev] LLVM backend: Treat some function calls specially
Hello, I am writing an LLVM backend that generates byte code for a custom virtual machine. Standard function calls are lowered to a simple CALL $offsetInByteCode This works fine so far using the standard machinery of LLVM. But some functions are not implemented in byte code, but delegated to native implementations within the VM. Calls to these functions use a non-standard calling convention

How to get remote access to domU console using VNC?
Hi all, I installed a paravirt CentOS 5.4 domU on a CentOS 5.4 dom0 environment. I compiled the domU kernel with framebuff console. But I couldn’t using VNC to connect to the domU console. The kernel boot message could print on the vnc console. But after the boot process, the console appears on the text console in dom0 again. The configfile is as follows: vfb = [

[LLVMdev] LLVM backend: Treat some function calls specially
Jonas, Why not lower everything to a single call during instruction selection, and then write a machine function pass that translates the normal CALL's into CALL_NATIVE? Live Snapshot and Rebasing using blockpull
Hello, I am looking for a solution for live backups of running KVM hosts. I recently read this article which highlights the following method: http://www.linux-kvm.com/content/first-look-virtual-machine-online-disk-snapshots-coming-fedora-18 1. virsh snapshot-create-as to create the snapshot 2. cp myvm.qcow2 myvm-backup.qcow2 to copy off the now read-only backing image file 3. virsh

How to find out what is deleting my vms
Hi, I have a CentOS-7 server running KVM but also oVirt. Recently, following updates, VMs not handled by oVirt have been deleting themselves after they shut down. Previously to this, I have not had any problems of this nature. I cannot say whether the problem is coming from oVirt updates or not. I am creating a VM using "virsh define myvm.xml" on the server, starting it through
