rsync 3.0.9 hangs when syncing from NFSv3 share - possible to retry after timeout?
Hello,
I'm using rsync 3.0.9 to backup several NFS shares from a fileserver, mounted over NFSv3, to a local RAID on a backup server. Both servers are running Ubuntu 12.04 server LTS. The fileserver's filesystem is ext4. The NFS shares are mounted on the backup server as follows:
fileserver:/mnt/storage/share1 /mnt/share1 type nfs (ro,tcp,bg,soft,intr,addr=192.168.1.1)

the same smb.conf

converting full to para
virt-p2v was able to convert my centOS 5.2 physical machine to xen virtual
machine and it runs great. Now, I am working on to convert this full virt
machine to para virt .
Under my domU i have installed kernel-xen (since it is needed ) , and edited
my grub menu to use the installed kernel.
My grub menu file in domU looks like:

Like Netware share ??
Most of you will probably think about this "It's not a real problem". But not my boss. I want to
exchange our Netware server with a linux/SMABA one but my boss wants to have on the new server
exactly the same directories structure like in the Netware server. And here it is what I couldn't
done : user X wich have two secondary groups Y and Z must browse in Win95 _only_ the Y and

RAID problem when building new computer
Hi all!
I'm building up a new box and plan to use Centos 5 on it.
i've got a pair of SATA 320 GB drives to make a RAID1.
I'm trying to follow the "howto" on the centos wiki for making a
"partitionable RAID" installation.
Given that my partition scheme has a separate /boot partition, while
the one in the HOWTO apparently does not, I've had to tweak the steps

Domain0 with Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen fails to boot Guests with Kernel 2.6.18-164.el5xen
Hi all,
I am in a bit of a fix here, I have several Guests paravirtualized
running on a Dom0 that is currently running the 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen
Kernel. All my guests (administered by different people) have
subsequently been updated to later versions of the kernel (namely
2.6.18-164.el5xen or 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen).
Ones that are still running are using the Kernel 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen

Errors for shares since 4.12.0
Hi,
I tried samba 4.12.0 on our file server which is a domain member and
exporting some shares. We're getting some strange errors on some shares
since the update.
Right after starting or restarting smbd everything is fine. After short
while (seconds or a few minutes) users are getting errors when trying to
access the shares, e.q. "Invalid Handle Error", "An unexpected

Active Directory + Samba 3.0.10 -> how to deal with owners and permissions
Hi.
I've a running samba system that works with a ADS auth. All looks like to
work. I can get the list of Domain users and groups (wbinfo -u, wbinfo
-g), and "getent passwd" works too.
Now I want to share a directory(or volume) and that the
DOMAIN/Administrator be the owner of this share to get the control of it.
I don't know how samba deals with resource owners and

Removing LVM
I have a CentOS 5 machine in which I'm trying to remove lvm. I dd'ed the
file system to another partition, then dd'ed it back overwriting the lvm
partition. I then modified menu.lst and fstab and replaced the paths to
point to the correct device.
When the system boots it's still looking for lvm. I can restore the
system back to where it was with lvm, but I'm not sure what

setuproot: moving /dev/failed:No such file or directory
Since my upgrade of the CentOS 5.4 to 5.5, it is impossible to boot from

The message I get is: setuproot: moving /dev/failed:No such file or

It seems like the system was unable to mount /dev in ram, then it cannot
find it...
How is it possible and how to solve this ?*

err0rs while attaching devices to dom0
Hi All,
I want to create a domU file system by copying necessary stuff from Dom0.
However, I encountered an error. I first create a block device for DomU: "
# mknod /dev/xvda1 b 202 0"
Then I want to temporarily attach this device to dom0 in order to copy the
file system of dom0, so I used
a command "# xm block-attach 0 duncan.img /dev/xvda1 w 0".
However, I got an error
