Created a custom/minimal CentOS 5.x install ISO
Hi all,
I'd like to try rolling a somewhat stripped down and customized
CentOS DVD. This is particularly interesting to me now that CentOS 5.5
is 2 DVDs. I dare not call it a new distro as I suspect I will be the
only one to use it. ;)
I've been googling for ways to do this, figuring it must be somewhat
straight forward, but my google-fu is weak it seems. Can someone point

pwconv with partial /etc/passwd
If shadow passwords are already in use, and new entries are appended to
/etc/passwd that include password hashes, is it still possible to use
pwconv to generate /etc/shadow entries for just the few newly appended
accounts?

HP DL585 - CentOS4.5 - kix woes
Hi
Well we are now using HP instead of Dell and have hit a major hurdle. We
dont seem to be able to kix any of these boxes. I have been most
recently trying on a dl585 and the issue appears to be that the kix
kernel does not detect any nic. Its strange as the box can be installed
using iso's and the nic appears as

Postfix dropping settings CentOS4.5
My company is using Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite 7.0
for linux. This setup uses Postfix as a mail gateway for MS Exchange.
The problem I'm having is ever so often Postfix 2.2.11 will lose the
Transport mapping lookup tables setting. When this happens, mail into
our domain will stop being relayed to our Exchange server.
FYI: please remember, I'm ok with understanding how

Intel VT-d Support
Hello all,
please tell me, how can I be sure that
my Xen installation is built with Intel VT-d support?
Something like
xm info | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
xm dmesg | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
What line I should look for?
And if it''s really built with it,
how can I be sure, that Xen has successfully
initialized VT-d hardware?
I have read [1] and the lists archives

CentOS-Base.repo baseurl commented out
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Weird, as all CentOS machines under my control are suddenly giving the
baseurl of Base repo not found error since this morning. Could be that
mirrorlist is leading but all other options I found online to debug
the error message seem to indicate that (un)commenting should fix it.

xen over quemu OR quemu in Xen domU on a system with HVM-capable CPU
Hello all,
I know that the question:
Is it possible to run quemu inside Xen domU
or run Xen domain 0 on quemu have discussed
earlier in this mail list.
As far as I remember this is possible
except such a configuration where kquemu acceleration is in use.
But what about HVM-capable systems?
Please tell me are there the same restrictions for the hvm-capable systems?
Thank you!

kernel: 4gb seg fixup messages...
Hey everyone,
I''ve searched through all of the previous posts and tried everything
mentioned but I am still getting these messages. Is there anything
else I can do? My host machine is running CentOS 5 w/ Xen 3.3.1. My
Xen VM is also running CentOS 5.
I''ve tried doing:
# echo ''hwcap 0 nosegneg'' > /etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc6-xen.conf && ldconfig

Loading FreeBSD in an HVM-domain on Intel-based host with GRUB
Hello all,
please tell me,
is it possible (at least theoretically)
to circumvent bug 622 [1] by using
GRUB instead of /boot/loader to load FreeBSD kernel?
Or it is silly idea: even if we bypass /boot/loader we will
not be able to run FreeBSD kernel in a HVM-domain on a
Intel-based host for some other reason?
As far as I know, GRUB can''t load FreeBSD kernel
directly, but only can

Xen and ACPI Sleep
Hi,
I am currently testing Xen on my laptop and was wondering if there was
any way to enable ACPI sleep so that I can resume sessions when I''m on
the go. Is this possible? If so, could you please highlight how to
achieve this? Thank you.
