1 TByte (99,5%) data missing on rsync backup???
Hi, I have a weird problem with RSync: On a NAS are about 1,2 TB data. When I plug in a harddisk and make a backup with RSync, "df -h" shows the backup disk filling up to nearly 1,2 TB. But after RSync has finished, there are only 3.7 GB on the backup disk. System: Linux nas 2.6.37-gentoo-r4 #1 SMP Tue May 3 19:54:31 CEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz GenuineIntel

inspecting win32 .dll from linux
Hello, I'd like to look at the file properties of a win32 .dll file from Linux. I desire the entries that you normally see under the "Version" tab in the file's properties like: "Company", "File Version", "Internal Name". I suspect that there is nothing out there that is just a simple Linux program that does this, so that is why I am here.

Problems running samba in vmware
I have used samba for nearly 9 years with no problems and we have about 20 users. In the past we have had a dedicated samba server. We have recently virtualized this server to a quad core Q6600 using vmware virtual server 1.0.4 on a 64 bit host running ubuntu 7.10. As part of the virtualization I installed samba 3.0.26a in ubuntu 7.10. Since this has happened users have complained about

The saga continues ....
.... I have a 64-bit CentOS 5.6 VM running on a 64-bit FC14 host. Actually, I *HAD* a 64-bit CentOS 5.6 VM :-) .... After a read of the virt-install man page, I concluded that I could lose the current VM (but *NOT* its HDD image) & recreate it fairly easily w/ the right combo of arguments to virt-install. How-To create Windows HVM?
Hi, i''m a little bit stuck here with creating a HVM-Windows (w2k3) Guest under Xen 3.1. I''m using ubuntu 7,10 with a 2.6.22.16-xen-patched kernel which seems to be stable for single cpu-linux guests. Cpu is a Q6600 and XD,VT and VT-d is enabled in the bios. When i create the windows guest with ''xm create w2k3 -c" (conf below) I get: "Started domain

Instructions for clean Install of Wine, EVE, and Ventrilo
I built this box and was looking forward to running eve on it. 2 weeks later CCP dropped support for Linux and I haven't been able to get a decent install yet. I found some instructions last night that let me run eve in safe mode, but if I tried adding Vent, it would crash. Also, I can't get Vent to run either. Can somebody post a straight forward install so I can run this game as

Re: vmware inside Xen
Hello, all. I want to run VMWare on my dom0, for those special occasions when I need to boot unmodified OSes. I found some messages from 2005 on this list that explained that it''s not possible to run VMWare on a xen host. (Example message pasted below..) Well, it''s 2007 now.. Is it possible yet? Before you ask, no, I don''t have hardware support for virtualization.

[PATCH] HVM x86_32 PAE guest support on 64-bit Xen
The patch enables x86_32 PAE unmodified guests on 64-bit Xen when the hvm feature is present. We tested only Linux at this point, and we''ll improve the functionality as we test other guests. The SVM needs the equivalent changes to the vmc.c to get this functionality working, but this patch does not break the build. Signed-off-by: Jun Nakajima <jun.nakajima@intel.com>

Re: [Xen‑users] Should I use HVM?
Your decision on what platform to go with depends on your requirements of course. Some observations from my end: Running a non-HVM platform limits you currently to OS where the OS itself has been para-virtualized. An HVM-enabled platform enables your future for changes that you may not have planned for at this time. Also, keep in mind that as you look at the management tools available for
