Samba with multiple domains with LDAP backend
Hi. I need to setup a single Samba server with multiple domains. I did more than one setup with single domain, but I'm having troubles finding info about multiple domain, especially with LDAP. Can anyone point me to a link, possibly with examples, on how to configure such a setup? many thanks -- Lorenzo Milesi - lorenzo.milesi at yetopen.it YetOpen S.r.l. - http://www.yetopen.it/ Via Carlo

I know about this param, I configured it and log.smbd, log.nmbd and others are rotated, log.samba is not. ----- Original Message ----- > From: "samba" <samba at lists.samba.org> > To: "Lorenzo Milesi" <maxxer at yetopen.it>, "samba" <samba at lists.samba.org> > Sent: Thursday, May 21, 2020 7:29:04 PM > Subject: Re: [Samba] log.samba

Only domain admins can access shares
I've set up a single server with a DC and fileserver. I've read through all docs and the warnings on the wiki (VERY well done, many thanks to all the contributors) more than once so I hope I haven't missed anything. smb.conf: # Global parameters [global] netbios name = FILESERVER realm = WDC.DOMAIN.IT server role = active directory domain controller

Changing password on unix client joined to AD
Hi. I've set up a Samba PDC on Debian, working fine with XP Clients. I'm now trying to have a linux client join the domain. I managed to do that, but I cannot handle password expiration. When the domain pass is expired, in GDM I see a message "Your password is expired" but the user can log in anyway. I used the following guide to configure my Linux client, which is an Ubuntu

log.samba missing rotation
Samba 4.12.1 installed from source following the wiki. I noticed /usr/local/samba/var/log.samba is not being rotated at all, it starts since the day I installed and it's still growing (500M so far). Is this something which must be handled manually with a logrotate entry? What signalling does samba require after the file has been rotated? I didn't find anything on the wiki, is it worth

I've an annoying issue, where even if in LDAP for every user I set "password never expires", at every login Windows prompts me for changing it. Is there anything I can check? thanks lorenzo (on a side note I've also the problem that when the user logs

Security context stack overflow on Debian5+LDAP
Hi I'm setting up a Samba PDC, with auth over Zimbra's LDAP, with this howto: http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=UNIX_and_Windows_Accounts_in_Zimbra_LDAP_and_Zimbra_Admin_UI_6.0 System is a fully updated Debian 5. Both for Debian and Ubuntu it's better to use Michael repos, to get consistent minor release updates: http://www.corpit.ru/mjt/packages/samba/README

Weird access problem to files
> which share isn't working ? > is it 'CONDIVISIONE' ? What is really weird is: Computer01, Win10, user1 logged in as local (not using domain user), share mapped with domain user. In the path I've posted in the first message the user can access BUT cannot write. Computer01, Win10, user1 logged in as domain user: same as above, user can access the folder but cannot write.

Intermittent permission denied when accessing share
I never said the team does recommend it, still I don't see the purpose of saying "it's possible" when can be "fraught with problems". Maybe the wiki [1] should be more explicit on this, despite discouraging and suggesting better options it doesn't say it's highly problematic, it's still offered as an option.

He is the Debian Samba maintainer. With the repos you can select several minor versions (from 4.16 to .18), while backports only contains the latest (currently 4.18) IIRC. -- Lorenzo Milesi -
