Web Service (server) and file_column issues
Hi there, I''m having some issues with using SOAP and file_column. The Web service I created is pretty straight forward. It gets the 5 most recently updated members from the database. Nothing too spectacular. However, the Members class uses file_column and when I try to connect to my web service I get this error: TypeError in Connect to serviceController#display_recent_updates Do

file_column - filtering uploaded file type and storing image size?
Sorry, more newby FC questions! I would like to use one file upload field to upload both PDFs and images. The images are in the listing_images table and PDFs are in the listing_pdfs table - both have a one-to-many relationship with listings. How do I do this? For listing_images, I would like to store the width and height of the image so I can produce valid xhtml image tags. I can''t

I''m working on an project to simply upload pictures with some extra information, I was able to get uploads working thanks to file_column, however, a couple things are troubling me. First of all, according to the file_column website, displaying images should go like this: <%= image_tag url_for_file_column("entry", "image")

Separating file_column upload directory by account
I''m working on an app right now that uses http://www.kanthak.net/opensource/file_column/index.html Sebastian Kanthak''s file_column plugin for file uploads. The usual directory structure it saves to is: model/attr/id/filename For my current project, I''d like to separate uploads by account so that it''s easier to monitor an account''s resource usage.

In Place Editor Fields and Safari
Hi, Does anyone else have any problems with Safari and in place editor fields? I''m specifically talking about trying to save a null value in a text box. In Firefox/IE/Camino/etc... saving a null value from an in place editor works how it''s supposed to. If the value is null, then ''click to edit'' is displayed. However with Safari when a null value is saved,

Mongrel + BackgrounDRb + File Column = Upload Progress Bar?
Hi there, I''ve been digging around trying to find some information (mostly examples) on how one would handle a progress bar upload using BackgrounDRb and File Column. I did read http://backgroundrb.rubyforge.org/ and Ezra''s blog of course, but I still have a few questions. I made a simple upload form (as a test) that is submitted to the "upload_song" action. def

zipping a file after upload, file_column
I''m using file_column and I''m not sure where to put code for zipping (compressing) a file. I want to upload an audio file, but compress it as a .zip file before saving. That way I can force downloads rather than having audio files load in visitor browsers. question is: Where do put code to do the zipping, so that it occurs before the file is saved? I want the database entry to

I have no idea where this coming from. Here are the important parts of my

problems with file_column plugin
1) installation is not as smooth as some other plug-ins. If you follow the instructions on http://www.kanthak.net/opensource/file_column/ it makes a directory called trunk instead of file_column. You have to manually rename it to file_column. I guess this is a minor annoyance but it gives me the feeling that things aren''t quite like other plugins. 2) I get this error: undefined

Restricting access to files uploaded by file_column
Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to restrict access on files that you upload in file column to certain users only? I notice that files being saved by the file_column by default are being saved under the public folder and can be accessed just by typing the URL directly. Let''s say you have a Login system where you restrict access to some pages and allow those users to upload their own
