virtual machine installation Questions
hello,
sorry that I post it here again, as I have already posted it on www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-xen/.
Now I am working on fedora6Xen,i.e. 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6xen .Several questions:
1. After I have installed the windowsXP, the XP OS of course needs to reboot, but then the WindowsXP is automatically closed. How can I restart it? And I use #virsh start , the domain will be running, but when I

Role of Xen/Xenolinux in New IO networking
I know I have asked this before, but I am having trouble understanding
the role of each component in the new 1.3 world:
In 1.3 networking if Xen has no devices, and domain 0 owns and operates
the NIC - does Xen have any role at all in networking for the guest
OS''s?
Which network device driver will a guest OS use?
Do all the vnetif rules defined in Domain 0 now get interpreted by

XEN 2.0.1/Xenolinux 2.6.9 domain0 not booting on Debian Sarge / P4 Xeon
Hi all
I am in the process of upgrading my XEN servers from 2.4 to 2.6 kernels
as I am having better results on 2.6.
However one machine (the big daddy) refuses to boot a 2.6.9 xenolinux
kernel. It''s an IBM eSeries xServer x205.
I have selected what i think are the appropriate options in menuconfig
but it refuses to boot into dom0. By refuse I mean it initialises the

The identifier parameter in Dial() command
Hi All,
I am new to Asterisk. Now I got one question on the identifier parameter of the Dial() command. I saw as below:
exten => 20,1,Dia(Zap/3/5551234).
Would you please let me know the meaning of "5551234"?
Thanks,
Songtao

Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hello...
Currently in the process of upgrading Samba v2.0.10 to Samba v3.0.x, while
conducting some minimal testing, it turns-out that Samba v3.0.x is
performing slower than Samba v2.0.10.
Set-ups:
A. Samba v3.0.x -->
Same PC client is accessing the samba share running on Red Hat 4.5 (64bit,
HP DL380) which in turn has an NFS mount coming from another SAN attached

I've just received my new 6400 (T7400, 2GB, 160GB, Vista Home Premium)
and I'd like to install CentOS 5 too. With big surprise (looking at the

Coxme time-dependent covariate
Hi all,
I am using the coxme function to fit random effects survival models. The
base survival models show a typical "J" shaped curve where survival drops
sharply then plateaus over time interval. I want to include a time
covariate which could account for this non-linear decrease in survival over
time. However, I have not found a clear way to do this in the coxme
models. Any

[PATCH nbdkit] common/include/tvdiff.h: Add formal specification.
This commit adds a formal specification of tvdiff_usec and a partial
specification of subtract_timeval. These may be proved using Frama-C.
The existing functions ignored overflow, but it is possible to call
the functions with parameters that will cause overflow. So to create
a formal specification I had to modify the functions to signal
overflow. Luckily GCC and Clang have convenient

Not sure this part matters, but doesn't hurt either.

how to get QEMU detailed breakdown in Oprofile?
Hi,
as now i am doing profiling and found that the QEMU should be one of the major reason for the low network throughput on HVM Guest.
In order to know details about it, it will be better to get the breakdown of QEMU in Oprofile.
As see from the following results, there is only two breakdowns, how can I run the oprofile to get more detailed QEMU informations?

Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hi...
Same problem here,
running on CentOS 5.* and 4.5.
It was solved by installing the package lockdev.
Then you must restart the machine.
And problem fixed.

Problems with loading arm
Hello,
I recently updated to R 2.10 on my 64 bit Dell Precision T7400 running
Enterprise Linux and now I can't get the arm library to load when I run
R using Wine. Prior to the update I was able to use arm without any
trouble. My main goal is to use arm with WinBUGS on this machine,
calling it from R for Windows, which is executed with wine. After the
update, when I try to load the arm

guest domain couldn''t be started
Hi,
I install a guest Fedora inside the host Fedora. When I use the
service xend status
to check the status of xend. It shows xend is running.
However when I use
xm create xen1
to start the guest domain xen1, it failed. The corresponding file xen1 is
in /etc/xen/xen1. The error msg is as follows:
[root@phillis xen]# xm create xen1
Using config file "./xen1".

Kernel Crashing
Hi,
I''ve just attempted several times to install Fedora Linux domU''s on a Fedora
6 [32-bit xen kernel 2.6.20-1.2944], and it keeps crashing at various points
when trying to format domU''s virtual disk. I''ve tried allocating 1 vcpu and
2 vcpus, and it still keeps crashing dom0. The machine has a total of two
hyperthreaded 3.2ghz Xeon cpus, and 3GB of RAM.
