Xen 3.1 installation
Hello!
I have problems with installation of Xen 3.1 in OpenSUSE 10.2.
I have unpacked the xen 3.1 tarball and installed software using
#sh ./install.sh
Then I have modified /boot/grub/menu.lst and now it looks like:
title openSUSE 10.2
root(hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.2-34-default root=/dev/sda3 vga=0x314 resume=/dev/sda2
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18.2-34-default

initrd / initramfs future
Hello,
I would like to know if initrd is here to stay, now that klibc and
initramfs are ready.
As the multipath-tools maintainer, I'm facing the choice to
1) put the multipath configuration tool in the initrd
* dynamic binary is possible
* storage hba drivers as modules loaded
* no klibc limitations (no mntent for libsysfs ...)
2) put the multipath configuration tool in the initramfs

Problem using Xen - SATA
Hi,
I have an Slackware 12.1 running on Intel Core2Quad, 4 Gb RAM. (The result
of dmesg is attached on this e-mail)
I have downloaded ''Xen 3.3.0 official source distribution tarball'' from
www.xen.org. Run make world, make install. Have no errors.
Installed GRUB correctly and added the following lines on menu.list:
title Xen 3.3

windows 2003
I have finally gotten one version of windows 2003 r2 x64 installed as a
guest.
The bad news is no network.
The network tab says it''s a realtek 8139 when I know it is a intel. I tried
downloading the intel drivers and they wont install says it''s the wrong hard
ware. Is this common that it uses a 8139 as a generic network card?
Also the network card shows

Xen 3.0.2 on AMD64 - and initrd fun :)
Mm, I have a big Quad-Opteron.. thing.. that I''m trying to get Xen onto.
I''ve used the 3.0.2 binary-install mode, updated menu.lst as per the
README, but I need an initrd which contains the HP cciss RAID driver,
and no Xen initrd image was installed into /boot.
Now I notice
xen-3.0.2-2-install/install/lib/modules/2.6.16-xen/kernel/drivers

how to make initrd image for dom0
Hi.
I am trying to make initrd for xen0 but I am not successful. I receive
error:
#yaird error: Could not read output for /sbin/modprobe -v -n
--show-depends --set-version 2.6.16.33-xen0 evdev (fatal).
If I do that just for xen kernel (not xen0) it goes without any problem.
I guest I have to use initrd for xen0 otherwise it does not want to
boot. Similarly, xen kernel without initrd will not

Booting dom0: Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello list,
I tried to install Xen 3.1.0 on Scientific Linux (RHEL4), but this
mission failed.. Hope you can help me by finding the reason for my problem.
I downloaded the xen sources from
http://bits.xensource.com/oss-xen/release/3.1.0/src.tgz/xen-3.1.0-src.tgz
and compiled them by running "make" and "./install.sh". This seemed to
work.
After setting up grub like this,

How the Centos 5.0's kickstart initrd.img is build??
Hi,
Any one know how the Centos 5 kickstart initrd.img was built? I'll be
very appreciated if any light can be shed on this topic. The basic
problem to be solved here is: how to build a custom vmlinuz+initrd.img
for Centos 5 kickstart with my own custom built kernel?
I am not sure mkinitrd is the right tool for this purpose? If do, which
are the modules I should include with

OpenSuse 10.2 & Xen 3.1 initrd file missing
Hi,
I recently put together an OpenSuse 10.2 machine (Tyan motherboard with
Opteron dual-core) and downloaded the Xen 3.1 rpm''s. After loading them and
modifying grub to boot into the Xen kernel, I get a "file not found" error
on the xen initrd file. As it turns out, there is a link for the xen initrd
file in /boot/grub but the file doesn''t exist. Not sure what

no "ata" sub-folder in linux-2.6.18-xen.hg/driver
Hi all,
When I make the ram disk for xen-3.3.0, I encounter a problem.
$mkinitrd -v -f initrd-2.6.18.8-xen.img 2.6.18-xen

Compared part of source code between linux-2.6.18-xen.hg/driver/* and

I found that linux-2.6.18-xen.hg/driver/ata doesn''t exist.

How to make an initrd for xen
Hi
How do I make an initrd for xen.
I''m trying to boot rhel3 in fc4, and it keeps getting stuck at
Freeing unused kernel memory.
I''ve created the device files, but it still doesn''t boot up. I''m
pretty sure that the solution lies in makeing an initrd file.
Currently my xenU kernel is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4xen0. Can someone please
tell me how to do this?

Adding a kernel module to the ISO/installer initrd?
Greetings list!
Because of the sheer number of box (re)installations we do that have a CentOS base, I've converted our provisioning process to PXE. However, I've found that an alarming number of motherboards are coming with the Realtek RTL8168 ethernet controller onboard. When the system boots, it cannot find an ethernet controller and the installer process hangs.
I made a new initrd

correct order to rebuild init after libc6-xen?
Hello to all,
Its been requested that I stifle the /lib/tls warning given even with
xen-friendly libc6 because init was compiled otherwise.
I got the deb sources for sysvinit from Ubuntu, which build just fine.
The last time I tried this I ended up breaking signals to init (even
though /dev/initctl was there and 666) and could not reboot.
So for a new server, I''m going to :
