Kernel panic in ext3:dx_probe, help needed
This may or may not be ext3 related but I am trying to find any pointers which might help me. I got a number of HP Proliant DL380 g5 with a P400 controller and also two qla2400 cards. The OS is RedHat EL4 U5 x86_64. Every time during reboot these systems panic after the last umount and I believe before the cciss driver is getting unloaded. The last messages I am able to see are: md: stopping

I suspect screen tearing (as it's usually defined) is to be expected. Can you take a photo of what you're seeing, since I'm suspecting it's more than regular screen tearing? OK. That's not tearing. That's like a bad pitch on an image. (Presumably you only find the second image, IMG_1968.jpg, problematic?) I'm guessing you're using a GL-based compositor, which I fully expect to work poorly. Please try a non-compositing or XRender-based compositing environment. cciss solution for CentOS 7
I've recently come across a thread in the CentOS forums [0] regarding the solution to getting hardware requiring the cciss driver, such as HP ProLiant G5 systems, to install and boot with CentOS 7. The thread was a start in the right direction, but I believe I've determined a better workflow and feel that it would benefit the community to have this published either in the release

qlogic qle2462 hba and freebsd stable on a dl360 g5
Hi. I'm looking at a qlogic qle2462 hba for my dl360 g5. The thread http://www.mail-archive.com/freebsd-stable@freebsd.org/msg99497.html mentions a deadlock when system is loaded. Has this issue been resolved? Are there other PCI Express hba's which are known to work with freebsd stable and dl360 g5? -- regards Claus When lenity and cruelty play for a kingdom, the gentler gamester is

nouveau on G5 Macs
Hi all, I have been trying to solve nouveau issues on my iMac G5 for ages. As far as I can understand it, there is a problem with nouveau and page size mapping. I tried both 64K and 4K page size kernels and the the result is always distorted video. There is an old To-Do list, which says "fix the page size mapping problem on G5/64 bit for exposing fifo regs" on

anyone using pxelinux.0 > 3.36 successfully with HP DLXXX G3, G5?
Hello * this morning I tried to upgrade from pxelinux 3.11 to 3.84 and discovered that the localboot stuff does not work on HP DL360 G3 and G5. The latest syslinux Version I found with a working localboot is 3.36. pxelinux.cfg/default: default harddisk prompt 1 label harddisk localboot 0 implicit 0 timeout 250 This so simple, it should just work, shouldn't it? Which GPU do you have? The NV40 AGP board (GeForce 6800) works particularly poorly. However as long as you go with 4k pages (and there's no real benefit to 64k pages for most applications), basic things should work. I wouldn't recommend using a GL-based compositor though. Which distortion are you talking about? Cheers, -ilia On Mon, Jun 22, 2020 at 11:10 AM Jeroen Diederen

Linux on an ancient Macintosh G5?
Has anyone experienced the conversion of the aluminum chassis Mac G5 to a Linux box? Curious in Pennsylvania. I need to obtain the power cable somewhere to try it. It is a 64-bit monster, so seems like it is worth trying if I can find the weird cable it needs. No luck to date regarding the cable. Thanks. The Bears will never win until number six leaves.

RAID on HP ML110 G5
I would like to run FreeBSD 7 on a HP ML110 G5. I understand from past posts to this list that the ML110 series is FreeBSD friendly, but what about RAID 1 using the on-board SATA controller? Will this work and how do you set this up? Regards Tom Munro Glass

TDM400P/FXS in a HP DL380 G5
The HP DL380 G5 (like many rack servers) has no AMP Mate-n-Lok connector available to attach to a card that needs more power than the PCI bus can provide, like the TDM400P when FXS modules are used. HP has confirmed that there is no part they sell to give you such a connector, and Digium says their business edition folks got it to work, but only by doing nasty warranty-voiding things to the
