Grant Tables between dom0 and domU?
Hi All, The interface manual says - grant tables provide a generic mechanism sharing between domains. Subsequent lines suggest mechanism sharing between only unpriviliged domains. Can grant tables be used for this capability based shared memory communication between dom0 and domUs? Thanks ~psr -- pradeep singh rautela "proud to be a TUXedo, BSDemons you are a little late" - me

xen over quemu OR quemu in Xen domU on a system with HVM-capable CPU
Hello all, I know that the question: Is it possible to run quemu inside Xen domU or run Xen domain 0 on quemu have discussed earlier in this mail list. As far as I remember this is possible except such a configuration where kquemu acceleration is in use. But what about HVM-capable systems? Please tell me are there the same restrictions for the hvm-capable systems? Thank you! -- WBR,

shared memory and event channel
Hi, For each domUs there is unique shared memory(2-way circular queue) and event-channel(one shared memory and event-channel per domU) or there is only one shared memory and interdomain event-channel(for every DomU)? regards: Amit _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

Creation of additional image within a domU
Chaps, Perhaps this question is a little basic for this list but I''m not really sure of the simplest method or best tool for the job. I''ve created some images with `dd=/dev/zero ....` and I''m using them for the domUs now. Some of them have been running for a few months with no probs. Trouble is that I''d like to create a separate partition within the domU.

We mount harddisk and try to install xp.hvm While,we are successful with FCs as DOM-U, for XP we get, VBD (768) could not be connected. We do have max_loop count to 64 and enough loop devices. Note that above error is consistent on both 3.0.3

How to debug XEN, in case where DomU/Dom0 gets unresponsive?
Hi all, I would like to know how to debug xen. To give some more informations, I would like to explain why I''d like to do this. I''ve compiled xen from source (3.1.x/unstable) and installed it on Debain etch. Furthermore I''ve installed 2 DomU, one HVM (Win2k3) and one EFW (Endian Firewall, RH-based 2.6.9-55 kernel). Both DomU''s are running fine for about 15

How to add cdrom in linux guest
Hi all, I have installed SLES10 as a guest on a para-virtualized XEN 3.0.4. the host system is SLES10. Now I want to add a cdrom to the guest machine, when I do that by using "xm block-attach" it adds a new hard disk to the guest not a cdrom. Also I need to make the guest boot from cd. New problem with winxp
Just installed winxp in HVM under Suse 10.2. Now, I cannot access the CDROM drive even though it worked fine during the installation. Windows exploer show it as D drive, but when I put in a data CDROM, it keeps asking to install cdrom. Device manager shows the CDROM as QEMMU CDROM drive. Any suggestions? xen kernel smp; but only one cpu
Hi Booting my Xen Dom0 on Debian Etch (Kernel is the prebuild one from bits.xensource.com), I found that only one cpu core (of two: dual core) is recognized by the (dom0-)Kernel. Googling this issue, I found on xen-devel-list that xen kernel is named smp but isn''t really doing so. Is there any (prebuild) kernel that I can use for smp? Thanks Gregor Reich

VT or paravirtualization?
Hello, What is the better solution now to run linux domUs under Xen3? Using a VT hardware, sould I install a xen-patched kernel as I would where no VT extension, or use an unmodified linux guest system? Is there any performance difference between a Pentium D 3 Ghz with vt (9xx) and without it (8xx)? Regards, Slapic _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

disk performance about half in domU? + question about XenSource
Based on some tests we ran, it seems the biggest performance hit you get from running within domU is from disk I/O. We did some mysql read and write tests, and for both, our performance is about half that compared to native. Has that been others'' experience? Is there any way to make this better? We are using physical partitions. In contrast, cpu/memory tests appear to be near

Xen PV drivers for FreeBSD
Hello, Does anybody know something about Xen PV drivers for FreeBSD? As far as I know there are no stable Xen PV-drivers for FreeBSD at the moment. But what about experimental drivers? Please, if you have any information about this, tell it. I think it would be interesting not only for me but for all who runs HVM domains FreeBSD. And the second question. I run FreeBSD in domUs

Best way to exploit VT chip
Chaps, I finally have access to a VT enabled box. What would be the best way to get the most out of Xen and VT? A number of questions here. Bear with me. They may seem simple but all I did previously was get the source code, study it a bit, read the README and build from source. Now that I have a dual-core machine how does Xen know how to split resources for the instances? Does one give any
