What makes live migration so slow?
Hello, I have now shfited to Centos 5.5, and I am testing live migration between 2 physical hosts with XEN 3.1.2. XEN 3.1.2 (virtualization) is included in centOS 5.5 during the installation phase, so everything is handled by default. A third host with Ubuntu OS serves as the network file system. The three hosts are connected by one D-link gigabit switch (DGS-2205). The downtime of live

Network issue with vif-route method
Hello folks, I used to work with bridging for my xen networks, but my very last hosting provider doesn''t support multiple mac address on the switch port. So I''m trying to configure some virtual servers on xen 3.2.1 using the network-route and vif-route method instead of bridge. Everything works well, on the virtual server except the network. In the VM definition file, I have :

hvm networking with vif-route
Greetings xen gurus... I''m working with xen-3.0-testing downloaded on July 3, 2006. I have configured an hvm domain and want to use vif-route and network-route to configure the communication. The domU starts up fine. I was able to complete the installation of the OS (RHES3) and can restart the domain repeatedly. However, I cannot ping the network interface from dom0 using the

CentOS 5.1 and Xen HVM guest networking problem
I've asked this on the Xen users list, but had no response so far: I'm running CentOS 5.1 with all current updates: xen-libs-3.0.3-41.el5 xen-3.0.3-41.el5 kernel-xen-devel-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5 kernel-xen-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5 and have a domU config file from another (5.0) server which works. The difference is that on the new machine I want to use routed rather than bridged networking. In

Xen 4 + Debian Squeeze + one VM in route mode and another in nat mode
Hello, I''ve installed on a debian squeeze server, xen 4 with one VM which run in route mode configuration with an IP failover. I wanted to create another VM which turn in nat mode, so I make that : - I let my xend-config.sxp with : (network-script ''network-route netdev=eth0'') (vif-script vif-route) because my first VM is the most important.... For the second, I

Firewall problem resolved - cannot set up networking in domU

Hi everyone, I need your help. I would like to create a front-back architecture with Xen. My physical server has only one public Interface. Currently, my DOM0 is using the network-route configuration: *(network-script ''network-route netdev=eth0'') (vif-script vif-route)* My DOM1 is configured with a public IP + proxy_arp with DOM0. Frustrating experience - Xen networking.
Hello, I am having a frustrating time trying to get bridge networking working. I''ve gone over the Wiki page on the topic, a few of the howtoforge pages and everything that I am doing is failing utterly. What I want to achieve is to have Dom0 be a stub running two DomUs. One DomU being a router/firewall and the other being the rest of what is on the current machine.

xen networking troubles
Hi, I want to switch my server into a Xen instance. Right now there are 10 vlans ending up at the server. For each service that the server provides, there is an alias IP address on each of the vlan interfaces to serve the clients. I want ot install xen, and divide the services into 4 virtual nodes. The dom0 machine has three network interfaces, eth0, eth1, eth2. eth0 and eth1 are bonded

network issue, RHEL4, lack of peth0/peth1 device
Hi! I''m not new to Xen but I''m new to this list. I''m having a truely bizarre problem with Xen bridged networking at the moment. This is a new install, on RHEL4. The symptom is that any domU set up simply fails to talk to anything else. It''s there, and running, and it has an ethernet device, but there''s never any response. After digging through the

Network problem: packets are lost in domU
Hello, I am having big problems with Xen virtual network interfaces. First I tried typical bridge support, no luck. The packets sent from dom0 to domU seemed to disappear somewhere. Then, to debug the problem I have set up a simple point-to-point link and still have the same problem. I am using Xen 3.0.4-1 and Linux 2.6.16.x in both dom0 and domU. I have tried kernel 2.6.16.35 and 2.6.16.41. I

HVM vif without bridge
Hello, When using xen without a bridge but NAT or routing, HVM domains can''t boot, and qemu-dm-n.log contains: config qemu network with xen bridge for tap0 xenbr0 bridge xenbr0 does not exist! That''s because the qemu-ifup script always tries to add the vif to a default-named xenbr0 bridge. On the contrary, PV domains just work fine with the same configuration file except HVM

Starting Xenbr0 looses connectivity
