Switching screen resolution on the fly
Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT -
to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to.
Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later
take me to "1366x768" mode.
With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for
jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes
in the xorg.conf but

Screen resolution Problem
Hi all
This is my first post and I get the feeling that it will be a very easy one to fix and I will kick myself when I hear it but here it goes.
I have installed wine 1.0 on my Ubuntu HH desktop no problems with install etc.
However when I try to use wine i.e. configure or use a program the wine interface has a font size that is HUGE and I cannot change these settings i.e. ctrl scroll etc.

Re: Screen resolution changing not working (Debian Squeeze)
Check that you have required mode(s) listed in 'xrandr' output. If not, add them to xorg.conf. Alternatively you can use virtual desktop mode.

Changing the VNC Screen Size for XEN Guest - how to pick a resolution?
I have seen different screen-sizes for different types of guests (WinXP and Ubuntu).
I''m not sure what is going on here, but WinXP available resolutions are defined tpically 4:3 ratios and the Ubuntu one has tiny 800x600.
Unless I run a guest vncserver I can''t see how to specify the default vnc window size. The reason I dont want to use a guest vncserver is I want localhost

XRandR and Screen Resolution Again
Having spent all day researching xrandr and the use of metamodes, I want to know: Is there a way to monitor the wineserver process so that I can run xrandr immediately upon wineserver's termination? Correct me if I am wrong. I believe that is what I want done.
(My problem, like that of many others, is that a full-screen game leaves my display trashed. I've found the same solution,

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Hi everybody,
I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on an old desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce 7600
GS and a screen of 19 inches.
The maximal resolution of my screen with Nvidia drivers is 1280x1024.
(In particular, I use the Nvidia 331.89 driver)
With Nouveau driver, the maximal resolution falls to 1024x768.
Is there a solution for increasing the maximum resolution with Nouveau ?
Best regards,

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Output name 'default' is not the name of an output nouveau can produce
(or nvidia for that matter, afaik). This is the vesa driver or...
something. Can you supply xorg log + dmesg?

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
There is no sign of the nouveau kernel module being loaded. Make sure
it's loaded, otherwise it won't work. Some distributions blacklist it
in modprobe.conf or a related file. I believe the nvidia blob
installer might as well.
Actually, looks like you've explicitly disabled it --

Screen resolution in StarCraft
I have installed StarCraft succesfully, but the screen
resolution is only 600x480, how do I change it to 1024x768?
I have tried to write:
wine --desktop 1024x768 starcraft.exe
but that makes the area available 1024x768 inside a 600x480
resolution!

Screen resolution switch with DGA
This has me baffled. I run Diablo 2 under Wine, works absolutely
flawlessly in every way. I have DGA enabled, and a 800x600 desktop (also
tried the Managed and Unmanaged options). Thing is, my X desktop is
1600x1200x16bpp and of course Diablo 2 is only 800x600. Is there any way
to have this resolution automagically change to 800x600 (nothing seems
to do that here), and back when I exit it?

Wine just changes screen resolution.
I'm quite new to Ubuntu and so to Wine too. So I installed Oblivion using Wine, and everything went well. But when I tried to run the game, nothing else happened but the screen resolution changed to 640x480. That happened when I clicked "Launch Game" on the start up menu of the game. Should I change some conffigurations or something?

Hi,
I am using current Wine 1.2
on a Ubuntu 10.04 Linux 32bit system.
When I play a Windows game using Wine in full screen

How can I stop this?
Thanks!

Screen resolution changing not working (Debian Squeeze)
I have been playing an old game, "Knights and Merchants - The Peasants Rebellion" for a long time on wine, keeping track of latest wine beta releases.
Yesterday I found it not working. The screen goes black (as usual, as there is some resolution changing done and the game will come up full screen), but then it just goes back to the initial screen; There is hardly any output:
Code:
