how to autoload modules on boot
Hi,
I want to autoload ide-scsi.o on each boot.
In debian there is a file
/etc/modules
in which I can iclude the names of the modules that are to be loaded
at boot time
As I remember in gentoo there was a similar /etc/modules.auto or something ...
is there an appropriate place in a redhat distribution or I should
write my own rc script?

Directory-like data organisation w/ environments?
Dear r-users!
I wonder if there is a way of designing a directory like structure for
holding my data using environments?
It would be nice if I could implement a kind of 'cd' command to change
to a differend environment etc.
Can anybody give me a hint?

master or client
Hello,
Dovecot auth protocol 1.0 defines differend command sets for client and
master.
How can a daemon distinguish a master connection from a client
connection? Clients do send CPID and master does not.
I have following auth configuration:
auth external {
socket connect {
master {
path = /var/state/dovecot/login/master-auth
}
}
}
I try to learn my authentication daemon to

RECORDNUMBER
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi!
I am going to encode almost 2000(!) CDs to OGG soon and I will use the tag
RECORDNUMBER (as opposed to TRACKNUMBER) to indicate which record in a
multi-cd-album it is. Maybe I'll also use the tag RECORDNAME if the record
also has a name (eg Nine Inch Nails/Fragile's records are called Left and
Right).
Please make this tag (at least

Multi-core processing in glmulti
Dear list,
I am trying to do an automated model selection of a glmm (function glmer;
package: lme4) containing a large number of predictors. As far as i
understand, glmulti is able to devide the process into chuncks and proceed
by parallel processing on on multiple cores. Unfortunately this does not
seem to work and i could not really fid any advice on the matter on other
forums. Specifically i

As long as it doesn't contain any references to global values
(functions, global variables & constants and aliases), yes.
For example: 'i32 0' is fine, as is 'i8*

Custom view helpers
Hi all,
I would like to write some custom helpers like the ones available as
form helpers text_field, text_area and the like. My first try was this:
custom_helper(obj, meth)
''some_string'' + obj.send(meth) + ''some_other_string''
end
Object and method are being passed as symbols like this:
custom_helper(:person, :name)
and Ruby rightfully complains that

Where to place custom classes?
Hi all,
I am writing a simple shopping cart which will consist of a single
class. There will be no DB table for carts so I do not want to make my
Cart a model. But where do I place my Cart class so that I can access
it in my controllers?
I want to be able do do things like this (for instance in a shop
controller):
def add_to_cart
@session[''cart''].add(article_id, amount)

Cannot ping DomU from Dom0 / cannot ping same site from two DomUs at the same time
Hello!
I have two problems. One is, that I cannot ping a DomU from Dom0 (or any
other host in my local network) and the second one is, that I cannot
ping the same site (eg. www.suse.com) from two DomU''s at the same time.
I have a fresh installation of openSuse 11.0 with Kernel
2.6.25.20-0.1-xen and my box has two physical ethernet cards.
As far as I have investigated, eth0 is the one

CentOS 6 Virt SIG Xen 4.6 packages available in centos-virt-xen-testing
Well when the last upgrade 4.2 > 4.4 went live and XM was disabled by
default it took many hosts down without warning. 4.4 > 4.6 may cause the
same issues. It's a dangerous upgrade for sure. Why can't 4.4 be LTS for
C6? as it's the last build with XM. Any XSA patches should not be hard to
backport. and maybe the optional xen4.6 for C6.

CentOS 6 Virt SIG Xen 4.6 packages available in centos-virt-xen-testing
Its my impression that as a general rule from RH once some software has
been released into a major release any further release of that software
does not change major version or fundamental features..
For C6 I would argue Xen 4.2 should stay packaged as xen and Xen 4.4 be
packaged as xen44 ...
I do not believe that Xen has been released for C7 yet so what ever
package version is released
