Processor architecture
Hi,
How could i know the processor architecture whether this is x86 or x86_64 ?
arch returns the architecture of the OS installed on the machine.
But what happened when i installed x86 dom0 on x86_64 machine, then arch and
#uname -a as well as #xm info all shows. x86, but really the machine is
x86_64.
Could anybody tell me how i can get the system information that this is
x86_64 machine.

openSUSE in domU on a CentOS dom0
Hi there,
I am new to Xen. Just began trying it out from day-before.
I have a CentOS 4.4 install on my hda6 partition. And I have a
openSUSE 10.2 install on my hda8 partition.
For openSUSE 10.2, I chose the Xen options while installing, and so I
have the xen kernels too installed. For CentOS 4.4, I downloaded the
Xen 3.0.2 source and compiled from there. (I followed the instructions

ioemu in config file and O_DIRECT option
In config file, ''*type=ioemu*'' is added with vif . Does it make the
difference if we don''t add.
Because i did not notice any difference in para as well as full
virtulization.
Same as in case of exporting the disk to Guest dom. Is it just a placeholder
or else ?
Second thing, I am running RHEL3 as a HVM DomU on xen-3.0.4. Every thing
works fine, but i had a problem to

Guest-domain has no login
Hi *,
as this is my first post I want to say hello to everybody.
Well, and unfortunatly I''ve already got a question for you:
I''ve installed a guest domain (OS: CentOS 4) on my xen-machine and
it''s para-virtualised (just to provide the information ;) ).
After the installation and mount the image containing the guest to copy
the necessary modules for the xen-kernel,

Number of xenbr''s limited to four on openSuSE 10.2 ?
Hi Group
...
havin'' read whatever I could "google" on this
topic, I didn`t find any
solution:
openSuSE 10.2 (out
of the box), xenkernel, running on HP Proliant DL360G5
(dual
internal networking, plus additional 4-port adapter) gives me eth0 -
eth5, but only peth0 - peth3 (as well as vif0 - vif3 and consequentely
xenbr0 - xenbr3).
I increased the number of

xen 3.1/ RHEL5 vs. ethtool
I have the xensource 3.1.0 x86_64 tarball installed over
a RHEL5 clone distribution. The "ethtool" utility only
returns the following information:
[root@fermigrid5 etc]# ethtool eth0
Settings for eth0:
Link detected: yes
[root@fermigrid5 etc]#
Since I have no vanilla-installed rhel5 machines with which to compare,
I am not sure if I am dealing with a bug in the ethtool

Requirements for a PVM enabled distro
(My apologies if this is the wrong list or if this question has been asked
before. I’ve done quite a bit of searching and can’t find an answer)
I am working on a heavily modified version of CentOS with a user-land that
mostly matches 5.4 and a kernel based on 6.2. I''ve found tutorials on how
to create a CentOS PVM (such as
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU) but I

FNIC nested PVM
I''m trying to do nested XEN to give some of my colleagues a play area to
work in, and it seems to work - but not quite.
I can build the nested environment (using OVM, and I have to step back to
OVM3.2.2 to allow me to do PCI passthrough), but as soon as I start up a VM
with a phys device passed through, the first layer loses all connectivity to
the SAN.
Setup:

Convert Trixbox HVM to PVM
Hi list,
I recently installed the Trixbox distribution as an HVM and have now
converted it to a PVM. Found very few resources on Internet where
people had done this conversion so I had very little to compare with.
Wanted to ask for comments about the kernel used in the PVM after the
conversion.
Installing Trixbox and later installing the xenified kernel, gives a
kernel of 2.6.18-92.....

swapless pvm
What is the best practice in creating PVm domU''s - with or without swap?
>From the admin point of view, especially in HA environment it is temptating not to have
a seperate swap partition.
Could it be performance issue if swapping to swap-file insted of
swap-partition?
What about pure swapless- no swapfile, no swap-partition?
Any expirence out there?
