URGENT problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Inn the error:
Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\folder:
initializing the SD failed
Does SD stand for Security Descriptor?
I have a server that doesn't want to make new folders without giving
this error. This only applies to folders!! Files don't give this
message.
I downgraded from 3.0.23c-1 to 3.0.21b-1 but that didn't solve it. It

Problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Hi,
We use Samba as backend for an IIS webfarm (shared hosting). Some of our
customers are using Frontpage extentions to manage their site. Now when
uploading a new folder or file the users are getting:
Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\file:
initializing the SD failed
When you click OK (you can only click OK at this point) the folder or
file is created and the rights

Re: Xen on production enviroment
Hi John,
And an excellent stab that was.
I have two network interfaces. eth0 is a 3Com with a
Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5701 Gigabit Ethernet chip,
and eth1 is a 3Com 3cSOHO100-TX Hurricane chip.
On the gigabit card, I couldn''t test anything, because I could not
find out how to disable/enable/check checksum offloading. Using
ethtool gives: Operation not supported

Someone already use xen as production server?
For example: 3 domains (mail, proxy and web server).
And what about stability?

[Off Topic] Managed desktop virus scanner in Samba 3 Enviroment
Hi,
As we are moving away from an NT based enviroment to SAMBA we are
looking for a managed virus scanner for our desktops. Managed means:
1. Remote deployment
2. Updates from a local repository
3. Notification and reporting.
The existing solutions (Symantec, TrendMicro, Mcafee) assume that you
have an NT server. I would much rather have a Linux/Samba based
managment console.
Any ideas/leads?

setting enviroment variable
I have a ror project which has been productized. There are several web
sites in one ror project
I need to set an "enviroment variable" to run different sites, can I do
that using mongrel? I tried to use mongrel''s -S option and set the
enviroment variable in that file but it seems mongrel runs that file
after it calls enviroment.rb
I also used apache''s

Again, I may be misunderstanding the vocabulary)

Command line App within Linux command line?
Hey guys.
I currently run a VPS which I run a couple of game servers on. It is currently running 2x Team Fortress 2 servers under Ubuntu Server 8.10 (no X). However to this list of servers I would like to add a Garrys mod server. If you are not aware, garry's mod is very popular HL2 mod which provides a sandbox style enviroment for the source engine. However due to the laziness of Garry

NVPTX Back-end: relocatable device code support for dynamic parallelism
Hi everyone,
CUDA allows to call some runtime functions also from the device code. On
a multi-GPU system this allows the GPU to determine its device id on its
own via cudaGetDevice().
Unfortunately i cannot get it working when compiling with clang. When
compiling with nvcc relocatable device code needs to be set to true
(-rdc=true) and the cudadevrt is needed when linking [0]. I did not

How to provide Rails hosting on Apache/FastCGI enviroment?
Hi, folks.
I am running a small Web Hosting service personally.
I hope to provide rails service on apache/fcgi to my hosting
users. So, I''ve been testing to setup rails application, and
there was no problem. But with Rails version 0.10.0 release,
previous way doesn''t work.
Following is a scenario which worked well before, but now beats me.

Asterisk in support enviroment, some CTI maybe & RT integration?
Hi,
Just wondering about using Asterisk for hosting a support line with a few
distributed operators taking calls.
My idea was for the calling party to be prompted for their support
number (maybe a unique
4 digit number) this would then get looked up in a database and then
place a pop up on
the operators screen with details of the caller. I'm guessing that
sort of thing is
being done a lot,
