Does XEN support crash carts?
While VNC is good enough, it doesn’t work if the NIC is down. So is there a way to switch amongst guest VM’s once a crash cart’s monitor/keyboard/mouse is attached to the video/USB/etc. ports (on the back of the physical box running XEN)? For the network down (out-of-band) emergencies, is there a way to switch amongst domain and/or guest VM consoles once a crash cart ‘terminal’

mkrootdev utility
The attached patch breaks out the /dev/root device node creation from do_mounts, placing it in it's own utility (called mkrootdev). This is worthwhile, as certain setups will need the device node there to run fstype and load a proper module (or other things). No, it does not currently configure raid devices.... I didn't know if that made sense in there or not.... Let me know what you

mkinitrd-4.2.1.3-1 unsuitable for 2.6.13+ kernels?
Hi all, I have a Opteron-machine with the MPT SCSI-controller (Symbios 53c1030). At least in i386-mode, mkinitrd does not seem to build a usable initrd for 2.6.13.x (.3 tested) with this kernel. With 2.6.12.6 it works fine. I have not tested this in x86_64 -mode yet. The symptom is that mptbase and mptscsih load, but mptscsih does not discover any controllers nor drives, and things like

how to obtain predicted labels for test data using "kerne lpls"
You need to do some extra work if you want to do classification with a regression method. One simple way to do classification with PLS is to code the classes as 0s and 1s (assuming there are only two classes) or -1s and 1s, fit the model, then threshold the prediction; e.g., those with predicted values < 0.5 (in the 0/1 coding) get labeled as 0s. There's a predict() method for mvr

Authentication via PAM posixAccounts in RH EL ASv3
To anyone who can help, I'm trying to setup samba to authenticate through PAM (ldap) but can't find /consistent/ documentation for this. POP/IMAP/ and local login works via pam_ldap, and samba was compiled --with-pam. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had any joy with this setup. ***************************************** My smb.conf is: [global] workgroup = NCC

Xen 3.0.3 troubles with a plain old ide disk.
Hi folks, After using 3.0.3 at work for awhile I decided to upgrade my 3.0.2 install at home to 3.0.3; however, I ran into issues with my IDE disk not being discovered. The full log can be seen here: http://www.techmonkeys.org/xen.txt I think this is the part most people will care about: Red Hat nash version 4.2.1.8 starting Mounted /proc filesystem Mounting sysfs Creating /dev Starting udev

Query on initrd
Hi In linuxrc(on initrd), there is one 'mkrootdev /dev/root' for creating root device, which it later mounts as root. Where does it get the information regarding the real root device from? Thanks Rachita.

do_mounts new sysfs support?
Looking at do_mounts.c, it does not seem to support the "major:minor" syntax exported in 'newer' sysfs (according to linux-2.6.15.6/init). The following is untested, but might work nicely... I will fully test this when I get home later today. PS, I also added some error output when it fails to parse the device number, just for kicks. As I said, I can't test this, so feel
